No full textDie hier vorgestellte Untersuchung zeigt, welche hohe Priorität das Thema "Standortsicherung" für Politik, Forschung, Gewerkschaften, Verbände und vor allem für die Unternehmen hat. In kurzer Zeit entstand eine umfassende Liste von Perspektiven, Pflichten und Chancen für alle an der Standortsicherung beteiligten Kräfte. Dabei beließen es die Mitarbeiter der Untersuchung nicht bei der Formulierung relevanter Themen. Konkretes Handeln war gefragt. Folgerichtig ging die Untersuchung nahtlos in industrienahe Forschungs- und Umsetzungsprojekte über, die in Teil 3 skizzierten "Prioritären Ersten Maßnahmen". Die Sonderstellung der Studie zu "Strategien für die Produktion im 21. Jahrhundert" wird zusätzlich untermauert durch den interdisziplinären Charakter. Ingenieure, Ökonomen, Sozialwissenschaftler mit unterschiedlichsten Erfahrungshintergründen arbeiteten intensiv zusammen und erzielten - dieses Buch ist der Beweis - greifbare Ergebnisse. Zudem: Die Untersuchung war keine Theoriedebatte un ter Forschern. Zahlreiche Industrievertreter in den Arbeitskreisen sorgten dafür, daß die Erfordernisse der unternehmerischen Praxis gebührende Berücksichtigung fanden. Alle Experten sind sich in einer Erkenntnis einig: die Suche nach zukunftsträchtigen Strategien für die Produktion muß unverzüglich begonnen und mit aller Kraft betrieben werden. No full textGoing beyond H. Richard Neibuhr’s famous paradox model on “Christ and Culture,” Dr. Paul Raabe contends for a biblical, dynamic tension that exists between the culture and the faith. Using the image of a house, Raabe explores four “rooms” : (1) Christianity affirms culture in some respects; (2) Christianity opposes culture in some respects; (3) Christianity leavens culture in some ways; and (4) Christianity uses cultural forms to communicate its message. Dynamic strain aging studied at the atomic scale
No full textDynamic strain aging arises from the interaction between solute atoms and matrix dislocations in strained metallic alloy. It initiates jerky dislocation motion and abrupt softening, causing negative strain rate sensitivity. This effect leads to instable flow phenomena at the macroscopic scale, appearing as a serrated stress-strain response and deformation banding. These macroscopic features are referred to as the Portevin-Le Chateher effect (PLC). Here we study the atomistic origin of dynamic strain aging in an Al-4.8 at.% Mg alloy using atom probe tomography (APT) and transmission electron microscopy (TEM). Samples were prepared from as-cold rolled (90% thickness reduction), stabilized (120 degrees C, 20 h) and recrystallized sheets (400 degrees C, 10 min), respectively. In the stabilized state, Mg was found to decorate <1 10> aligned dislocations with up to similar to 12.5 at.%. Tensile tests in combination with thermographic and laser speckle observations were used to map the deformation bands for the site-specific extraction of APT samples from regions inside the PLC bands. We observed an asymmetrical Mg distribution along some of the dislocations, matching model predictions for high dislocation speeds at peak drag stress by Zhang and Curtin. In this case, the Mg distribution is characterized by depletion in the compressive regime above the dislocation slip plane and enrichment in the dilatation region below the slip plane. Mg also depletes in a tail-like form behind fast-moving dislocations, further promoting slip localization. (C) 2014 Acta Materialia Inc. Published by Elsevier Ltd. All rights reserve
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
No full textThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
