Analisi energetico-ambientale dello smaltimento del PET finalizzata all’ottimizzazione del grado di integrazione tra le metodiche di trattamento degli RSU

    No full text
The study is aimed at optimizing MSW treatment methods, through the LCA metodology and using PET as the critical element in choosing the best method of disposal. The results are referred to the environmental quality and the energy output of the various treatment processes

New configurations of housing facilities developed in height. Pico hydraulics, consumption become energy

The continuous growth of the population and the increasing demand of urbanization expansion towards the development of high-rise buildings. To meet their energy demand, the European Community is trying to address the designers to nearly zero-energy buildings. It is reasonably simple to produce a small residence totally energy efficient however it will be a real challenge to do the same for high-rise residential buildings. In the general research of the “P> 20” a building of more than 20 floors, equipped with renewable energy systems and with low impact technologies, with complete energy efficiency is studied energy self-sufficient. The first technology introduced in this paper will be the Pico Hydraulics system, a technology for the exploitation of hydro electric potential of grey water to produce electricity. Finally, the economic, environmental and social advantages of P> 20 is to be illustrated, for Albanian and European cities

    Challenges of Development: Asian Perspectives

    No full text
Asia is certainly one of the key areas of the developing world. What is the role assigned in Asian countries, to crucial factors like fundamental rights, the rule of law, environmental protection, trade liberalization? A distinguished group of scholars, practitioners and officials analyses the concepts of development, environmental protection, climate change, use and distribution of natural resources through the well-known paradigm of sustainable development. This reflection is carried out through the lens of some key ideas: the rights to life and to development, and more generally human rights, equitable distribution of resources, common but differentiated responsibility, the pivotal role of finance, trade and knowledge-and-technology transfer to developing countries to trigger and support sustainable development. Analyzing the challenges of development from an Asian perspective does not lead to results which are only of limited interest to this continent: Asia can offer useful lessons for other areas of the developing world – and maybe even beyond

The Definition of Subsidy and State Aid: WTO and EC Law in Comparative Perspective

    No full text
This book presents a conceptual framework for analysing the definitions of State aid and subsidy in EC and WTO law. This is done through a comparative analysis, examining the coherence of the conceptual understanding of the crucial, but still elusive, issue of the definition of subsidy. The first, important finding is that the topic is not only technical but raises more fundamental questions about the objectives of subsidy control in a given legal system and, more radically, about the goals of that system itself. The analysis does not only concentrate on the state of the law but critically looks forward, offering suggestions for new interpretations and law reform. The book focuses on the substantive provisions of the EC and WTO relating to what are identified by the author as the core properties of a notion of subsidy, i.e., a form of public action, the grant of an economic advantage and the ensuing impact on the competitive process. The current regulation in EC and WTO law is analysed, compared, and assessed in depth, and tested against a baseline represented by a notion of subsidy inserted in a subsidy regulation pursuing certain objectives. Drawing on the results of the comparative exercise, the book argues that both systems can learn valuable lessons from each other to achieve a greater coherence and a more efficient regulatory system

An assessment of the impact of possible CAP reform scenarios on Romanian agriculture

    No full text
Using a simplified model, with key-variable the prices of two different possible scenarios of CAP reform after 2013 (moderate and radical), this paper present a comparison between the price effects of implementation of each reform scenario at 2015 horizon on Romanian agriculture. This short analysis shows that, under the presented hypotheses, the net welfare effect, due to the price changes, for the selected products, is positive in both reform scenarios, yet greater in the case of the radical reform. Integrated in the large context of Romanian development, it seems that the influence of CAP reform upon agriculture and rural areas will be most likely a gradual one: an interpenetration between the two scenarios is foreseeable, starting with the moderate reform that will dominate the period around 2013, the reform measures acquiring a more radical character afterwards.CAP reform, Romania, welfare effects, Agricultural and Food Policy,
