No full textPer la riproduzione di ciascuna novella sono stati consultati gli esemplari originali, pubblicati su rivista tra il 1919 e il 1923. Si è ritenuto opportuno, infatti, riproporre i testi con la maggiore fedeltà possibile, tenendo al contempo presenti i criteri adottati nelle precedenti edizioni, da cui sono state mutuate alcune soluzioni: si fa riferimento, in particolare, a La “Cocotte” e altre novelle, a cura di S. Zappulla Muscarà, Curcio, Roma 1979, e a Novelle di guerra, a cura di R. Abbaticchio, Palomar, Bari 2010, che raccolgono le nove novelle di argomento bellico qui riprodotte; ma anche ad altre edizioni, come Romanzi, novelle e saggi, a cura di C.A. Madrignani, Arnoldo Mondadori, Milano 1984 e La disdetta e altre novelle, a cura di G. Traina, Avagliano Editore, Cava de’ Tirreni 2004, in cui ritroviamo La paura, o come La paura e altri racconti della grande guerra, Introduzione di A. Di Grado, E/O, Roma 2014, nella quale sono inoltre comprese Il rifugio, La retata e L’ultimo voto.
Pur nel rispetto della princeps di ogni novella, si è quindi operata la distinzione tra accento grave e acuto: è il caso, in particolare, dell’accento grave su “e”, che è stato sostituito con l’accento acuto (perché, finché, sé, né...). Nel testo de Il rifugio le virgolette che racchiudono il discorso diretto sono state eliminate e sono stati introdotti, per analogia con gli altri testi, i trattini. I refusi più evidenti, inoltre, sono stati tacitamente emendati (è il caso, ad esempio, di gammella corretto in gamella)

fino alla produzione di massa e all’attuale crisi, implicando tutte le tipologie e dimensioni del patrimonio industriale dell’automobile e tutte le modalità di valorizzazione delle corporate identity, con le loro ricadute anche sul turismo culturale industriale.
In visioni multiple del patrimonio dell’automobile, nella prima serie di saggi l’attenzione è posta sulla conoscenza fisica delle fabbriche sottoposte a processi di conservazione/trasformazione, con il confronto fra casi europei nei territori principali dell’automotive in Gran Bretagna, Francia e Italia (Paul Smith, Kathryn A. Morrison
e Rossella Maspoli). Una seconda serie di saggi riguarda il tema della connessione fra patrimonio materiale e immateriale nei processi di valorizzazione dei distretti storici: prodotti e veicoli, imprese e marchi, archivi e patrimonio documentario. Il tema è affrontato dal punto di vista della grande istituzione museale (Museo Nazionale dell’Automobile), della documentazione delle esperienze originarie del motorismo (Guido Ardizzon, Giovanni Luigi Fontana, Luigi Casaretta) e dalla cultura del collezionismo d’auto (Nataša Grom
Jerina) nelle prospettive della Fédération Internationale des des Véhicules Anciens - FIVA. Infine, altri contributi aprono al ruolo di strutture trasformate/ in trasformazione (Benedetto Camerana, Rossella Maspoli) e di forme di comunicazione innovativa dell’automotive brand, considerando opportunità e rischi presenti nel corporate brand heritage di una grande azienda storica (Fiat Chrysler Automobiles - FCA), e prospettive generali del turismo industriale che coniughino culture industriali e del territorio (Jacopo Ibello e Maria Concetta Perfetto)

No full textIl tema dell’accessibilità è dedicato in particolare a idee, azioni e prospettive di futuro per il superamento delle barriere tangibili, intangibili e digitali ai luoghi della cultura. La rubrica curata da Rossella Maspoli mira a presentare riflessioni teoriche o casi di studio in questa prospettiva.
L’accessibilità culturale è intesa, quindi, in termine fisico e cognitivo, che sono entrambi di grande rilevanza per il patrimonio industriale.
La condizione pandemica ha evidenziato l’impatto essenziale delle esperienze virtuali per l’accesso al patrimonio e la fruizione museale, con modalità di visita che costituiscono uno strumento per ampliare i target di accesso, offrire al visitatore esperienze di conoscenza e rispondere ai bisogni emergenti di identità e di presa di coscienza
Latest Update on Outer Membrane Vesicles and Their Role in Horizontal Gene Transfer: A Mini-Review
No full textOuter membrane vesicles (OMVs) are spherical, lipid-based nano-structures, which are released by Gram-negative bacteria in both in vitro and in vivo conditions. The size and composition of OMVs depend on not only the producer bacterial species but also cells belonging to the same strain. The mechanism of vesicles’ biogenesis has a key role in determining their cargo and the pattern of macromolecules exposed on their surface. Thus, the content of proteins, lipids, nucleic acids, and other biomolecules defines the properties of OMVs and their beneficial or harmful effects on human health. Many studies have provided evidence that OMVs can be involved in a plethora of biological processes, including cell-to-cell communication and bacteria–host interactions. Moreover, there is a growing body of literature supporting their role in horizontal gene transfer (HGT). During this process, OMVs can facilitate the spreading of genes involved in metabolic pathways, virulence, and antibiotic resistance, guaranteeing bacterial proliferation and survival. For this reason, a deeper understanding of this new mechanism of genetic transfer could improve the development of more efficient strategies to counteract infections sustained by Gram-negative bacteria. In line with this, the main aim of this mini-review is to summarize the latest evidence concerning the involvement of OMVs in HGT
Antimalarial Agents from Medicinal Plant and Fungal Sources
No full textMalaria is the fourth major parasitic infectious disease for humans, causing severe symptoms and life-threatening complications, which, if untreated within 24–48 h may evolve in the fatality. In the past five decades, major initiatives in the treatment and prevention of this devastating disease have been implemented in endemic areas, leading to significant progress and declining trends.
The majority of the reports presented here are focused on the activity of the extracts and fractions of plant or fungal origin: this approach has its rationale in the observation that crude materials are often more active than isolated compounds, due to the manifestation of beneficial synergistic and additional effects and/or pharmacokinetic/pharmacodynamic interactions. Consideration has been given to the antiplasmodial activities in relation to the different herbal part and nature of extracting solvents and to safety studies; whenever available, phytochemical fingerprint has been reported, disclosing a variety of unique molecular scaffolds with a potential as
new pharmacophores. Despite the general lack of mechanistic information for the curative effects of the reported plants and fungi, these studies may undoubtedly pave the way to a new generation of antimalarial agents
