Construct validity, dimensionality and factorial invariance of the Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale: A bifactor modelling approach among children of prisoners
The Rosenberg Self Esteem Scale (RSES; Rosenberg, 1989) has traditionally been conceptualised as a unidimensional measure of self-esteem but empirical evidence is equivocal, with some studies supporting a one-factor solution and others favouring multidimensional models. The aim of this study was to examine the factor structure, factorial invariance and composite reliability of the RSES within a European sample of children affected by parental imprisonment (N = 724). The study specified and tested six alternative factor models using conventional confirmatory factor analytic (CFA) techniques and a confirmatory bifactor modelling approach. The RSES was most effectively represented by a bifactor model including a general self-esteem factor comprising of all ten scale items and separate method effects for the positively and negatively phrased items. This model was found to be factorially invariant among boys and girls. Composite reliability indicated good internal consistency for the general self-esteem dimension but slightly less so for the positive and negative methods effects. Results are discussed in terms resolving the debate surrounding the appropriate factor structure and scoring of the RSES

The Factor Structure and Composite Reliability of the Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale among Ex-Prisoners
The aim of this study was to examine the factor structure and composite reliability of the
Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (RSES) using a sample of 669 ex-prisoners identified in the National Survey of American Life. Six distinct factor models, with uncorrelated measurement error terms, were specified and tested using confirmatory factor analysis (CFA). Results indicated that the two-factor model consisting of positive and negative latent variables provided a better fit to the data than the alternative models. Moreover, only positive self-esteem was a significant predictor of recidivism. Composite reliability indicated that the two factors were measured with very good reliability. The results consequently provide additional support for a two-dimensional model of the RSES within offender populations
Malignant mixed müllerian tumor of the fallopian tube coincident with a primary serous carcinoma of the ovary. Case report
.Malignant mixed müllerian tumors are very rare neoplasms of the fallopian tube, and treatment is not well defined. A case of malignant mixed müllerian tumor of the tube concomitant with a primary serous carcinoma of the ovary is reported. It was unclear if there were two distinct neoplasms in the same patient, or if it was a single tumor with a sarcomatous fallopian conversion of the serous component, as described for some recurrent ovarian carcinomas. Chemotherapy for ovarian carcinoma with intraperitoneal metastasis was performed, with about a three-year interval-free period of disease, as could be expected for ovarian carcinomas at the same stage. Such coexistence of these two tumors does not afford adequate staging of the malignancy. Therapy for the very rare cases similar to the one reported here needs to be improved
Positive Scalar Curvature on Spin Pseudomanifolds: the Fundamental Group and Secondary Invariants
In this paper we continue the study of positive scalar curvature (psc) metrics on a depth-1 Thom-Mather stratified space M sigma with singular stratum beta M (a closed manifold of positive codimension) and associated link equal to L, a smooth compact manifold. We briefly call such spaces manifolds with L-fibered singularities. Under suitable spin assumptions we give necessary index-theoretic conditions for the existence of wedge metrics of positive scalar curvature. Assuming in addition that L is a simply connected homogeneous space of positive scalar curvature, L = G/H, with the semisimple compact Lie group G acting transitively on L by isometries, we investigate when these necessary conditions are also sufficient. Our main result is that our conditions are indeed sufficient for large classes of examples, even when M sigma and beta M are not simply connected. We also investigate the space of such psc metrics and show that it often splits into many cobordism classes
