Sorelle d'Italia. Scrittrici e identità nazionale. Introduzione

    No full text

    No full text

Abstract. The Author claims that the protection of minors in our contemporary society is primarily concerned with the changes in family transitions. As a matter of fact, family transitions loose the normative regulations they had in the past. The emergent effect is an overall increase in the risks and uncertainties that minors have to face. What does it happen when the relative stability of the transitional stages that families meet wither away? What are the consequences on children? What kind of interventions (social policies, personal social services, etc.) addressed to minors can be envisaged in a society which configures family transitions as an unbound morphogenesis of its relations? The social condition of minors becomes an unceasingly transition due to many factors, but basically because the societal morphogenesis makes the reflexive abilities of the families more and more problematic. The paper suggests that, in order to protect children, we have to go beyond the conditional and muddling through models of the past. We need to adopt a new model of analysis and intervention, called ODG-system, which is relational and reflexive. It consists in developing the relational reflexivity of the family as a social system able to cope with children’s needs

The rice transcription factor OsWRKY47 is a positive regulator of the response to water deficit stress

OsWRKY47 is a divergent rice transcription factor belonging to the group II of the WRKY family. A transcriptomic analysis of the drought response of transgenic rice plants expressing P (SARK) ::IPT, validated by qPCR, indicated that OsWRKY47 expression was induced under drought stress in P (SARK) ::IPT plants. A PCR-assisted site selection assay (SELEX) of recombinant OsWRKY47 protein showed that the preferred sequence bound in vitro is (G/T)TTGACT. Bioinformatics analyses identified a number of gene targets of OsWRKY47; among these two genes encode a Calmodulin binding protein and a Cys-rich secretory protein. Using Oswrk47 knockout mutants and transgenic rice overexpressing OsWRKY47 we show that the transcription of these putative targets were regulated by OsWRKY47. Phenotypic analysis carried out with transgenic rice plants showed that Oswrky47 mutants displayed higher sensitivity to drought and reduced yield, while plants overexpressing OsWRKY47 were more tolerant

Price caps, efficiency payoffs, and infrastructure contract renegotiation in Latin America

Twenty years ago, as the United Kingdom was getting ready to launch the privatization of its public services, Professor Littlechild developed and operationalized the concept of price caps as a regulatory regime to control for residual monopoly conditions in those services. Ten years later, Latin American countries, as they embarked into their own infrastructure reforms, also adopted the price cap regulatory model. Relying on a large data base on the factors driving contract renegotiation in the region and a survey of the literature on efficiency gains, the authors assess the impact of this regulatory regime in Latin America. They show that while the expected efficiency gains were amply achieved, these gains were seldom passed on to the users. Instead they were shared by the government and the firms. Moreover, the adoption of price caps implied higher costs of capital and hence, tariffs, and brought down levels of investment.International Terrorism&Counterterrorism,Decentralization,Labor Policies,Banks&Banking Reform,Environmental Economics&Policies,Banks&Banking Reform,Environmental Economics&Policies,International Terrorism&Counterterrorism,Water Supply and Sanitation Participation,Community Participation in Water Supply and Sanitation

Anhedonia and Emotion Regulation in Delay Discounting

    No full text
This study focused on two research questions. First, it examined how one’s low regard for future reward can influence one’s time-bound decision making also known as temporal decision making. Second, it examined how the control (i.e. emotion regulation) of negative emotion also influenced temporal discounting. The study hypothesizes that 1) low anticipatory wanting and 2) employing suppression and reappraisal predict discounting behavior. TEPS was used to measure anticipatory and consummatory anhedonia whereas the emotion regulation task and delay discounting task were adapted from previous experimental studies and appropriately designed using Superlab 5. The data were collected from participants composed of 206 and was analyzed using process macro SPSS version 21. The results failed to show that the proposed predictors were directly associated with discounting. The author resolved to conditional indirect process analysis using different models. The initial pathway modeling showed a conditional indirect effect of anticipatory anhedonia on delay discounting mediated by negative affect and moderated by suppression condition (template 14 in Haye's Process model in SPSS 2013). This project designed two readily available experiment materials. First, the emotion regulation tasks in inducing negative affect derived from Dan-Galusser and Gross (2011) using IAPS (Lang, 1998) wherein 75 photos will be shown to participants. The other one is the delay discounting task using Philippine peso currency which is derived according to Rachlin, Raineri & Gross’s (1991) method of titrating hypothetical monetary rewards until the indifference points are reached in each delay time points
