    Organising for servitizing: a PSS provider’s perspective

    Despite the numerous benefits that the implementation of a servitization strategy can bring to manufacturing companies, several challenges have to be faced. Among others, changes of intra- and inter- organisational relationships are required in order to create, capture and deliver new value. In such a context, this paper investigates how the servitization level of a PSS offering impacts on the organisational dimension of a PSS provider as well as on its value-creation network. A theoretical conceptual model, derived from a literature analysis, is refined and expanded into an explanatory conceptual framework through an empirical investigation. Finally, some directions for future research are pointed out

    Despite the numerous benefits that the implementation of a servitization strategy can bring to manufacturing companies, several challenges have to be faced. Among others, changes in competences, resources, organisational structure and value network relationships are required in order to create, capture and deliver new value. In such a context, this thesis investigates how the servitization level of a PS offering impacts on a PS provider as well as on its value-creation network. A theoretical conceptual model, derived from literature, is developed and then expanded into an explanatory conceptual framework through a case-based methodology. Evidence from the empirical investigation are then discussed and summarised into twelve propositions. Finally, contribution to both theory and practice, as well as some directions for future research, are pointed out

    A new Product-Service offering taxonomy: an application to the Italian Truck Industry

    The transition toward a service dominant logic has pushed product-based manufacturers to develop new customer value propositions, to support their emergent business models. Current literature fails to explain and provide a comprehensive structure of the different servitization configurations that organisations are currently experiencing. In order to fill this gap a product-service offering taxonomy is proposed. For ascertaining its capability to map and benchmark different product-service offerings, the taxonomy has been applied to chart the service portfolio of four different organisations belonging to the Italian truck industry. In particular the purpose of this application is to show how a company can design its product-service portfolio consistently with its servitization strategy and the environment where it operates
