No full textThe article deals with the position Michael Psellos has taken with regard to
the readers/listeners of his Chronographia. The intended readers are, in
addition to Constantine Leichoudes and Emperor Michael VII which he addresses
directly, the educated people at and around the imperial court. Psellos deals
with his story in full command as a sovereign author and by many remarks
which guide the readers. It is set out how the six provable real readers of
the Chronographia (Michael Attaleiates, Skylitzes Continuatus, Nikephoros
Bryennios, Anna Komnene, Ioannes Zonaras and Michael Choniates) have made use
of the text

Η ανάλυση παραθεμάτων από τον Όμηρο και την Καινή Διαθήκη που χρησιμοποιούνται από την Άννα Κομνηνή στην Ἀλεξιάδα υποδεικνύει ότι η συγγραφεύς χειρίζεται ελεύθερα τις πηγές της διασκευάζοντας, παραφράζοντας και προσαρμόζοντάς τις ανάλογα με τις αφηγηματικές ανάγκες του κειμένου της. Οι αποκλίσεις, επομένως, από το αυθεντικό κείμενο δεν μαρτυρούν σύγχυση, αλλά συνειδητή επεξεργασία. Until now only Herbert Hunger and Warren Treadgold had pointed out that Michael Psellos has his Chronographia not written by his own hand but dictated to a professional scribe. Therefore also the structure of this work clearly has an oral character: many references back and forward, transition formulas, dialogues instead of orations. All this corresponds to its almost entirely oral sources and its aural reception. Psellos thinks of the recipients of the Chronographia not als readers but as listeners, may it be in a public θε?ατρον or privately, of course always read out loudly
