CULTURAL AND HISTORICAL HERITAGE OF THE VILLAGE KOTOR

Village on the hill above the fith of river Dubračina itno the sea is a well known medieval ecclesiastical center whose inhabitants moved to the sea after a sequence of changes in cultural and safety conditions and built the town Crikvenica. Kotor didn’t have many inhabitants but it had an important role because of the carefully chosen location between the Littoral region and the central part of Vinodol region. This is confirmed by the number of churches and chapels that today are ruined or even totally destroyed. In last few years with great efforts (the material needed for reconstruction can only be carried to Kotor by donkeys) researches, reconstruction and presentation works are made on the ruins of the former parish church of Saint Simon and Jude Tadeus that was originally one-naval church with an arch in romanic style, reconstructed in the 15. century when they enlarged the sanctuary and added chapels on both sides so the church (governed by franciscan monastery in Trsat) now has the form of latin cross. In future, small church of St. Juraj from the early Middle Ages and the spacious pilgrim church of Holy Trinity, between Kotor and Podbadanj, will be reconstructed. First villages in Kotor are much older. The name comes from the croatian translation of antique coastal town Ad Turres, under the today’s sport center in Crikvenica. It shows the coexistence between romanized inhabitants and new inhabitants, Croatians, was pacific. New inhabitants accepted the traditional local name, but since they were a majority they change it into croatian and connected Kotor with Grižane and Belgrad forming one parish, e.i,. adminstrative and territorial unity. Walking around Kotor hill rare pieces of antique bricks and amphora, but also pieces of house objects, can be found. The prehistorical part of Kotor has not yet been searched, but judging by dish fragments and ruined wall from the late Bronze Age, this hill must have been a fortified town. From this period we have evidence in the grave on Stolnić, that was an occasional discovery above the stone mine on Podbadanj

Autor iznosi arheološke, topografske i dostupne povijesne podatke i činjenice o stanju, očuvanosti, broju, položaju i kulturno-povijesnim karakteristikama srednjovjekovnih crkava na tlu Vinodola, odnosno područja današnjih općina Crikvenica, Novi Vinodolski i Općine Vinodolske. Sve gradnje karakterizira rustičnost izraza i relativno skromna graditeljska vještina bez izraženih kvalitetnih radova u oblikovanju kamene skulpture. U drugoj polovici 14. st. započinje izgradnja crkava u gotičkom stilu. Taj tip gradnje traje sve do početka 16. st. kada je zbog ekonomske, političke i sigurnosne krize uzrokovane turskim provalama te izmjenom dijela pučanstva došlo do opće recesije i prestanka izgradnje crkava. The aim of this work was to complement previously published informations on the number and conditions of majority of middle-aged churches found on the territory of Vinodol. Under respective consideration were also the closeness and sites of the antique and late antique finds and possible locations of early Christian worship places. We have further description of the historical vacuum interval between the 7th to 12th c, which is the time of a slow and unefficacious Christianization of this part of Croatia governed by Ban, which is proved also by a markedly pagan character of the old-Croatian grave-yards of that time. With the establishment of Diocese of Krbava some time middle 12Ul c. began systematic process of the construction of churches. So, during the subsequent two centuries was completed construction of almost all today well known sacral objects. The rustic look and relatively modest constructive skill, deficient in high-quality works in moulding the stone sculptures, are characteristic for all the constructions of that time. In the second half of the 14lh c. started construction of Gothic style churches, which continued until early 16lh c. when, due to economic, political and safety crisis, result of Turkish raids and also because of the exchange of a part of population, general recession and cessation in the construction of churches took place.

Opisuju se otkriveni dijelovi triju prostorija prostranog arhitektonskog kompleksa, s djelomice očuvanim mozaičkim podovima. Analizom okolnosti nalaza i preliminarnom komparacijom otkrivenog motiva na mozaičkom ulomku autor navodi mogućnost da je riječ o ranokršćanskom mozaiku unutar bazilikalnog kompleksa građevina, nad čijim ruševnim ostacima uz poštovanje položaja i tradicije kultnog prostora nastaje današnja katedrala sv. Marije i sv. Jurja. Some probing archeological researchings were made on the north side of the Cimiter Square opposite the cathedral church facade early in the 1993. Some parts of the huge building complex were found there and, by comparing the style of building, the accompanying tiny archeological materials, specially the characteristic decoration of the mosaic floors, it was dated back to the 5th century. The motif of "Salomon's knot" has been one of the series of a frequently exploited symbolic narrative on the mosaic floors of early-christian monuments of the Aquilean cultural circle. This discovery has been rather encouraging for possible future explorings of the cathedral church circuit and defining of an early christian origin of the ancient Senia, which must had been an important centre during the Ostrogothic and early Byzantine rule to which were gravitating simultaneously the settlements and control stations along the coast of neighbouring east part of the island of Krk.Anfangs des Jahres 1993 wurden archaeologische Untersuchungen auf dem noerdlichen Teil des Platzes Cimiter gegen die Vorderseite der Senjer Kathedrale ausgefuehrt.

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    Get PDF
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    Get PDF
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
