Salix alexeii, a new name for the extant Salix elongata L.He & Z.X.Zhang (Salicaceae)
Salix Linnaeus (1753: 1015) is the most speciose genus in the family Salicaceae and comprises about 450 species (Argus et al. 2010). The genus is widely distributed in temperate and boreal regions of the Northern Hemisphere and a few species also occur in the Southern Hemisphere (Heywood et al. 2006). China is the centre of diversity for the genus Salix with 279 species (Wang et al. 2015) of these 189 species are endemics (Fang et al. 1999, He et al. 2016).</jats:p
Second-step lectotypification of the name Capparis parviflora J. D. Hooker &amp; Thomson (Capparaceae)
The genus Capparis Linnaeus (1753: 503) has about 600 species (Zhang & Tucker 2008), distributed in tropical and subtropical regions worldwide and some in temperate regions (Fisci 2015). There are 30 species of Capparis in India (Viswanathan 2000), of these Capparis fusifera Dunn (1914: 377), Capparis grandiflora Wallich ex J. D. Hooker & Thomson (1872: 174), Capparis kollimalayana M.B. Viswanathan (2000: 245), Capparis nilgirinesis Subba Rao, Kumari & V. Chandras. (1981: 146), and Capparis rheedii Candolle (1824: 246) are endemic to Peninsular India (Sundararaghavan, 1993, Singh et al. 2015).</jats:p
Barleria gandhii, a new name for Barleria pauciflora (Acanthaceae)
Barleria Linnaeus (1753: 636) is a pantropical genus comprising about 250–300 species (Balkwill & Balkwill 1998, Darbyshire et al. 2012), with its greatest centre of species diversity in tropical Africa, followed by South Africa and Asia (Balkwill & Balkwill 1998, Darbyshire 2010). It can be easily distinguished from other genera of Acanthaceae by a combination of three characters: a 4-partite calyx with 2 large outer (anterior and posterior) segments and 2 smaller inner (lateral) ones, spheroidal, pollen grains with coarsely reticulate exine and the predominance of double cystoliths (calcium oxalate crystals) in the epidermal cells (Balkwill & Balkwill 1997, Champluvier 2011, Darbyshire 2010).</jats:p
Symplocos ståhlii Kottaim., a new name for extant Symplocos globosa B.Ståhl (Symplocaceae)
Symplocos Jacquin (1760: 24) is the largest genus in the family Symplocaceae and comprises about ca. 340 species (Fritsch et al. 2008). It is distributed in the tropical and subtropical regions of eastern and southeastern Asia, the Americas and Australia (Nooteboom 2004). The genus Symplocos Jacq. is known to have 33 species in Ecuador (Ståhl 2010; Ulloa et al. 2015), the majority of which occur in Andean forests (Ståhl 1995). While revising the genus Symplocos in Ecuador, Ståhl (1991) described 15 new species. Among these, the name S. globosa B.Ståhl (1991: 27) is illegitimate, being a later homonym (Art. 53.1 of the ICN; McNeill et al. 2012) of the fossil taxon S. globosa R. Ludwig (1857: 98). Therefore, the new name Symplocos ståhlii Kottaim. is proposed here as a replacement name for the extant S. globosa.</jats:p

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.
