INTERORGANIZATIONAL NETWORKS IN SLAUGHTERING AND TANNING INDUSTRIES: A COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS ACROSS FOUR REGIONAL DISTRICTS
In complex and turbulent environments, organizations frequently develop formal or informal relationship in order to work together to pursue goals, address common concerns, and/or attain mutually beneficial ends.
In the recent years, the number and significance of collaborative forms of organizing, including inter-organizational teams, partnership and networks, have increase tremendously.
The value of effective collaborative relationship as well as the complexities and challenges they present have been recognized by many researchers.
This chapter is aimed at analysing the inter-organizational networks of Abruzzo’s slaughtering firms and leather tanning firms belonging to the district of Igualada, S.Croce sull’Arno and Arzignano. The methodology approach adopted in this study is social network analysis (SNA), which represents a method of collecting and analysing data from multiple organizations that may be interacting with one other.
This chapter is structured as follows: first, we give an overview of the SNA and of the main network concepts employed in this analysis. Second, we present the data collected within the four districts surveyed. The subsequent sections contain the analysis and results achieved. We conclude with a brief discussion of our results

Validation of a gyroscopes-based protocol for the assessment of gait symmetry in above-knee amputees
There is an urgent need in the rehabilitation of above-knee amputees (AKA) for inexpensive systems able to provide, in real-time, quantitative information about gait symmetry. Traditional optoelectronic systems fail in this task being restricted to the laboratory workspace, expensive and time consuming. As a solution, a protocol named Symmetry Evaluation of Amputee Gait (SEAG) has been proposed (Raggi, 2006). SEAG is based on the acquisition of the medio-lateral angular velocity of both shanks with mono-axial gyroscopes, and on the identification of specific features of these signals related to heel-strike and toe-off of both sides. Since the real-time features identification proved to be reliable (Raggi, 2006), the aim of this paper was to verify the overall precision of SEAG in the estimation of steps and strides duration
accoppiamento ottico e sensore CCD.
As part of the "Energy for Motion" research program proposed by the Department of Energy, the "NDT @ Polimi" (Non-Destructive Testing @ PoliMI) project is an initiative that aims to develop an X-ray Computed Tomography system for the morphological characterization of electrochemical devices. X-ray Computed Tomography (CT) is a non-destructive imaging technique based on the processing of radiographic images, which enables to reconstruct the 3D structure of materials and objects across different spatial dimensions.
The purpose of this thesis is to develop a theoretical-numerical model of the X-ray imaging system consisting of: scintillator, optical coupling system and CCD sensor. The objective is to understand the physical aspects that mostly affect signal conversion efficiency and image quality offered by the aforementioned system, in order to assist the design of the facility. The study starts from an analytical model, and explains how the conversion efficiency of the system depends on the energy of a monoenergetic
X-ray beam. Subsequently, the theoretical estimates are validated through a Monte Carlo approach. The comparison of the results highlights the role of fluorescence photons in determining the energy deposited by X-rays in the scintillator.
Resolution properties were investigated by following a numerical approach based on calculation tools of figures-of-merit. Finally, after introducing a realistic energy distribution of the photons emitted by the X-ray tube, a monochromatic source superposition model is proposed, including
the effect of filters and corrections for fluorescence. The presented model is meant to offer a computational approach to evaluate a given experimental configuration, ultimately useful in guiding choices towards the system optimum
[C. Iu]lius Menodorus, il primo tribuno militare dalla provincia d’Asia
A funerary inscription found at Ephesus records the cursus of a certain Menodorus, a fresh Roman citizen inscribed in the tribe Cornelia as well as praefectus fabrum and tribunus militum during his lifetime. The author believes that he must be identified with the Menodorus/Menas recorded by our literary sources as a sea-captain in the war against Sextus Pompeius, who at a certain point switched sides and was thence rewarded by Octavian with the inclusion in the ordo equester.A funerary inscription found at Ephesus records the cursus of a certain Menodorus, a fresh Roman citizen inscribed in the tribe Cornelia as well as praefectus fabrum and tribunus militum during his lifetime. Therapeutic drug monitoring of recent antidepressants in patients under polypharmacy
The introduction into clinical practice of the so-called second generation antidepressants has improved the treatment of depression, since these drugs, compared to the first generation antidepressants (such as imipramine and clomipramine), show a more favourable safety profile with respect to cardiovascular effects, whilst maintaining efficacy. Nevertheless, patients treated with these newer antidepressants can present undesired effects, including serotonin syndrome, sedation, body weight changes, sexual dysfunction and suicidal ideation. Therefore, with the aim of reducing the risk for toxic/side effects, therapeutic drug monitoring (TDM) of second generation antidepressants is advisable, particularly in case of patients under polypharmacy. During the last years, a number of methods have been developed in our Laboratory for the accurate determination of antidepressant drugs and their metabolites in plasma samples obtained from patients, including drugs belonging to different classes of second-generation antidepressants (SSRI, NaSSA, SNRI). Sertraline, together with its main metabolite N-desmethylsertraline, can be analysed in plasma samples using a method based on capillary electrophoresis with laser-induced fluorescence (LIF) detection. The method employs a 488 nm wavelength laser and a sample pre-treatment procedure consisting in solid-phase extraction followed by derivatisation with fluorescein isothiocyanate. The high selectivity obtained allows the determination of sertraline in plasma samples from patients under polypharmacy.
Capillary electrophoresis with diode-array detection has been employed for the enantioselective determination of mirtazapine and its active metabolite N-desmethylmirtazapine in human plasma. The method is quite fast: after a solid-phase extraction procedure, the electrophoretic run lasts 2.5 min.
HPLC with fluorescence detection has been used for the determination of venlafaxine together with its main metabolite O-desmethylvenlafaxine, while HPLC coupled to UV detection was employed for the analysis of duloxetine in plasma of depressed patients

The dispersal and reuse of the spolia of Ostia are phenomena that have been thoroughly investigated. The novelty of this essay resides in some new hypotheses regarding the extent and the dynamics of the reuse, which seems to start in late antiquity. The identification of some discriminant criteria (based on typology, onomastics, and formulas) have led to an analysis being carried out on some centers along the Tyrrhenian coast, which in its turn has enabled the identification of inscriptions whose provenance appears to be Ostia or Rome, in the sites of Civitavecchia, Gravisca, Giglio Island, Pisa and some Sardinian locations such as Tergu. What has emerged is a situation wherein the reuse of the spolia from Ostia followed a developmental trajectory that expanded over time and in space, ranging from the first redistribution in late antiquity to the political-religious use made of the spolia in 11th-12th-century Pisa, the surrounding countryside, and the archipelago of islands in its possession
