Gluteal fibrosis
After reviewing the literature the authors discuss the aetiology and pathogenesis of gluteal fibrosis. We believe that the condition occurs more frequently than is thought. If this is borne in mind when dealing with children from four to six years old, presenting with abnormal gaits, an early diagnosis can be made. As regards treatment, we agree with those authors who maintain that if diagnosed early the lesion can be treated successfully by physiotherapy alone. In more advanced cases, Z lengthening of the tendon is indicated

The work hereby uses a cross-sectional design in the study field of ethnolinguistic vitality perception. It is the first one to compare ethnolinguistic vitality perception, and its related factors, between young people and adults in relation to the catalan-speaking and the spanish-speaking groups in catalonia. to do so, the subjective ethnolinguistic vitality questionnaire was used on a sample of 527 participants, 268 young and 259 adults, among which there was a sub-sample of individuals who had Catalan as their mother-tongue and identified themselves as Catalan people (n=301). In both the total sample and the sub-sample a tendency to positively discriminate perceived vitality of the Catalan group is alleged, an aspect that is emphasized significantly in the group of emerging adulthoods. results are discussed based on the theoretical and pragmatic repercussions of studies done on intergroup communication field.
The instability of the second metatarsophalangeal joint is a frequent pathology. We can find it in isolation or as a part of a global alteration of the forefoot. It can be presented as acute, subacute or chronic. The cause may be mechanical or inflammatory. It is the result of the failure of the plantar plate and ligaments, which stabilize the metatarsophalangeal (MTP) joints. It occurs in middle-aged women. These patients go to the clinic for presenting pain initially on the back of the MTP joint, and metatarsalgia secondary appears located below the head.Different treatments have been proposed both orthopaedic and surgery
The aim of the present study was to assess the efficacy of the Advansys® DLP (dorsal Lisfranc plate) plate for performing arthrodesis of the Lisfranc joint. To this purpose, the various osteosynthesis procedures proposed in publications over the past 10 years were reviewed. The actual results with the DLP plate were assessed on 4 patients, with a mean follow-up period of 14.5 months. For the evaluation of the results, the postoperatory midfoot AOFAS scale was used; the mean score in this series was 78.7 points. We discuss the advantages and disadvantages of this particular model of plate as compared to other osteosynthesis methods
Tobillo cóncavo-convexo.
The ball and socket ankle is a deformity that affects the joint surfaces of the tibia and the talus. The tibia presents a concave shape in the frontal plane and the talus a convex shape. The ankle changes from a trochlear joint to a spherical joint. There are several etiopathogenic theories. It is frequently associated to tarsal coalitions and, in these cases, the shape of the joint is considered as an attempt to compensate the lack of movement of the hindfoot joints. We report a case of a 10 year old patient with bilateral ball and socket ankle joint, more severe in the left side. No tarsal coalition or any other congenital disorder was found. The patient was treated with a medial closing wedge tibial osteotomy, plate fixation and an oblique fibular osteotomy
An Ouzo emulsion of toluene in water characterized by NMR diffusometry and static multiple light scattering
An Ouzo emulsion is an emulsion that is formed spontaneously by adding water to a system comprising a hydrophobic substance (like anethole in the Ouzo beverage), a water-miscible solvent and (optionally) water. Formation of such an emulsion does not require the use of surfactants, dispersing agents, or mechanical agitation. In this work, Ouzo emulsions were prepared from the ternary mixture toluene-ethanol-water and the emulsion stability was studied by a combination of two techniques: static multiple light scattering and NMR diffusometry. A bimodal distribution of the droplets was found. The light scattering technique revealed the presence of large drops, several micrometer in size. NMR measurements confirmed the large drops but also showed the additional presence of droplets of the order of 100 nm in diameter. The distribution of toluene between the three environments (i) large drops, (ii) small droplets, and (iii) the continuous ethanol-water phase could also be assessed. It was found that addition of an anionic surfactant to the system yielded an improved dispersed system, i.e., more toluene was present as small droplets and less toluene was dissolved in the ethanol-water phase; however the presence of the amphiphile reduced the emulsion stability.
