Inclusive Strategy for Small and Marginal Farmers in Tapioca Production, Processing and Marketing
This study was conducted to explore the post-harvest value addition opportunities for tapioca, identify the constraints faced by small and marginal farmers in processing and to suggest a strategy. Primary data from 60 tapioca farmers of Elamadu Grama Panchayath of Kollam district, Kerala were collected through interview schedule. Expert opinion was collected from the Scientists of Kerala Agricultural University (KA U), KVK, and CTCRI etc. to screen the appropriate technology for tapioca value addition. The data obtained were analysed using percentage analysis, SWOC and COWS analysis. It was found that a number of farmers were involved in tapioca cultivation and could produce marketable surplus, but were not engaged in any post-harvest value addition activities. Indeed, farmers have expressed their willingness to start value addition jointly as a group. The technocrats opined that tapioca snacks and chips are better options for value addition at farm level. The study highlighted the need for an exclusive organisation for tapioca cultivation, marketing and processing. Initiating farmer driven producer organisations and consumer linked value chain would be a promising strategy for livelihood of small and marginal farmers of tapioca

Constraint Analysis of Paddy Promotion Programmes under Decentralized Planning
A study was conducted in Thrissur district of Kerala, with the objective to find out the constraints felt by the beneficiary farmers and extension personnel while implementing of paddy promotion programmes under decentralized planning. Ex-post facto research design was employed and multi-stage sampling method was followed. Thirty farmers, each identified from three gramapanchayats viz;Adat, Arimpur and Chelakkara and 30 extension personnel representing 3 blocks of Thrissur district were surveyed. Analysis was carried out using Kruskal Wallis test. The dimension wise constraints perceived indicates that financial, time, infrastructural, knowledge, market and scheme feature were the most severe, followed by manpower and input constraints as more severe in Arimpur panchayat. The major constraints perceived by the extension personnel were manpower constraints, financial, scheme feature, input, time and infrastructural constraints, in that order

Perception of Farmers about Kisan Credit Card Scheme
In order to ensure a hassle-free system in dispensing credit to farmers, the concept of Kisan Credit Card (KCC) was introduced in 1998 and operated at the grass root level. This study was conducted with 60 KCC holders of Adat Farmer\u27s Service Co-Operative Bank (A FSCB) in Adat village of Thrissur district. Eighty seven percent of KCC holders have agriculture as the mainstay of livelihood. Majority of the respondents opined that the interest rate and present credit limit of KCC was at a moderate level. Two thirds of the respondents expressed that procedural formalities were moderate for getting KCC and also to get credit in time. The Scheme was perceived as good by a majority of respondent
Awareness and Utilization of Information and CommunicationTechnology (ICT) in Agriculture - Farmer’s perspective
In recent times, Information and Communication Technology (ICT) has become relevant in the Indian agricultural sector. In this age of information technology, extension can empower the farming community with agricultural knowledge through /CT for the inclusive development of agriculture. The physical distance and logistic problems are the major impediments for extension services. In this context, strengthening extension services with effective use of JCT seems indispensable. Hence a study was conducted with an objective to know the awareness and utilization of JCT among farmer users of Aksahya e-kendra in Adat Crama Panchayat of Thrissur district, Kerala. The data were collected by administering a pre-tested, structured interview schedule. · The study reveals that the awareness regarding information provided through /CT tools was medium. The utilization of computer enabled /CT tools for seeking agricultural information was not substantial. However, the information provided through /CT tools was found to be useful to farmers and they have expressed medium level of satisfaction towards its usage. Enhancing off-grid wind energy systems with controlled inverter integration for improved power quality
Introduction. Off-grid wind energy systems play a pivotal role in providing clean and sustainable power to remote areas. However, the intermittent nature of wind and the absence of grid connectivity pose significant challenges to maintaining consistent power quality. The wind energy conversion system plays a central role in tapping renewable energy from wind sources. Operational parameters such as rotor and stator currents, output voltages of rectifiers and converters, and grid phase voltage variations are crucial for stable power generation and grid integration. Additionally, optimizing power conversion output through voltage gain analysis in boost converters is essential. Moreover, ensuring electricity quality via total harmonic distortion reduction in inverters is vital for grid compatibility. Goal. Enhancing the power quality of grid-integrated wind energy conversion systems. Methods. The proposed topology is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink with optimized control strategies for enhancing power quality in off-grid wind energy systems. Results. Control strategies with a grid-connected wind energy conversion system yields substantial improvements in power quality. This includes effectively mitigating voltage fluctuations and harmonics, resulting in smoother operation and reduced disturbances on the grid. Practical value. Автономні вітроенергетичні системи грають ключову роль у забезпеченні екологічно чистої та сталої електроенергії віддалених районів. Однак переривчастий характер вітру та відсутність підключення до мережі створюють значні проблеми для підтримки сталої якості електроенергії. Система перетворення енергії вітру відіграє важливу роль у використанні відновлюваної енергії з джерел вітру. Робочі параметри, такі як струм ротора та статора, вихідна напруга випрямлячів і перетворювачів, а також коливання фазної напруги мережі, є вирішальними для стабільного виробництва електроенергії та інтеграції в мережу. Також важлива оптимізація вихідної потужності за допомогою аналізу посилення напруги в підвищувальних перетворювачах. Забезпечення якості електроенергії за рахунок зменшення повного гармонійного спотворення в інверторах є життєво важливим для сумісності з мережею. Мета. Підвищення якості електроенергії інтегрованих в мережу систем перетворення енергії вітру. Методи. Запропонована топологія реалізована в MATLAB/Simulink з оптимізованими стратегіями керування для підвищення якості електроенергії у автономних вітроенергетичних системах. Результати. Стратегії керування за допомогою підключеної до мережі системи перетворення енергії вітру дають суттєві покращення якості електроенергії. Це включає в себе ефективне послаблення коливань напруги та гармонік, що призводить до більш плавної роботи та зменшення завад у мережі. Практична цінність. Power quality enhancement of grid-integrated solar photovoltaic system with unified power quality conditioner
Introduction. To enhance the quality of power and ensure a consistent electricity supply, this study proposes the utilization of a unified power quality conditioner (UPQC) system integrated with solar photovoltaic (PV) technology. The innovation involves single DC-link connecting back-to-back voltage-compensating components arranged in series and shunt, forming the PV-UPQC. The shunt compensator utilizes energy from a PV array to address harmonics in the load current. The objective is to mitigate voltage dips and spikes by injecting voltage that is either in phase with or out of phase with the common coupling point through a series compensator. The method combines the benefits of generating renewable energy to enhance electrical quality. The goal of the paper is the power quality enhancement of grid-integrated solar PV system. The novelty of the proposed work consists of enhancement of grid-integrated solar PV system with UPQC. The purpose of integrating a UPQC into a grid-connected solar PV system is to enhance power quality by mitigating issues such as voltage fluctuations, harmonics and reactive power imbalance. Methods. The proposed topology is implemented in MATLAB/Simulink with grid-integrated solar PV system with UPQC. Results. Integrating UPQC with a grid-connected solar PV system yields substantial improvements in power quality. This includes effectively mitigating voltage fluctuations and harmonics, resulting in smoother operation and reduced disturbances on the grid. Practical value. Для підвищення якості електроенергії та забезпечення безперебійного електропостачання пропонується використовувати систему уніфікованого стабілізатора якості електроенергії (UPQC), інтегровану із сонячною фотоелектричною (PV) технологією. Інновація включає одиночну лінію постійного струму, що з’єднує зустрічно-паралельні компоненти компенсації напруги, розташовані послідовно, і шунт, утворюючи PV-UPQC. Шунтуючий компенсатор використовує енергію від масиву PV батарей для усунення гармонік струму навантаження. Мета полягає в тому, щоб пом’якшити провали та стрибки напруги шляхом подачі напруги, яке або збігається по фазі із загальною точкою з’єднання, або не збігається по фазі з нею через послідовний компенсатор. Метод поєднує переваги генерації відновлюваної енергії підвищення якості електроенергії. Метою статті є підвищення якості електроенергії інтегрованої в мережу сонячної фотоелектричної системи. Новизна запропонованої роботи полягає у покращенні інтегрованої у мережу сонячної PV системи за допомогою UPQC. Метою інтеграції UPQC у мережеву сонячну PV систему є підвищення якості електроенергії за рахунок пом’якшення таких проблем, як коливання напруги, гармоніки та дисбаланс реактивної потужності. Методи. Запропонована топологія реалізована у MATLAB/Simulink з інтегрованою в мережу сонячною PV системою з UPQC. Результати. Інтеграція UPQC із підключеною до мережі сонячною PV системою дає суттєве покращення якості електроенергії.
