Laser indirect ophthalmoscope (LIO) retinopexy and epiretinal maculae membranes
Purpose: To evalute the efficacy of the LIO retinopexy in preventing the onset of epiretinal macular macular membranes. Methods: We reviewed the notes of 157 patients vith rhegmatogenous retïrTâlattachment (RD) who drainage (SRF) between Jan. 94 and Jul. 96. AU of the patients presented with a RD whose features and extension were similar. None of them underwent intraoperative and/or postoperative complications. We evaluated 101 patients underwent cryogenic retinopexy and 56 patients underwent ophthalmoscope indirect Argon green laser photocoagulation. In all thr patients we performed visual acuity (VA) examination, biomicroscopy and fundus photographs before and after surgery. Results: Mean VA of first group was 0,53 and 0.49 for the second (p: 0,9WmTe incidence of epiretinal macular membranes in the first group was 4,9% (5/101) and in the second group was 1 ,77% ( 1,56). Conclusion: We consider the LIO retinopexy effective in reducing the occurrence of epiretinal macular members in patients operated for RD. None
