Unknown input and state estimation for linear discrete-time stochastic systems in the presence of constraints
This thesis presents an unknown input and state estimation algorithm for linear discrete-time stochastic systems with inequality constraints on the inputs and states. The proposed algorithm consists of optimal Bayesian estimation and information aggregation. The optimal estimation provides minimum-variance unbiased (MVU) estimates, and then they are projected onto the constrained space in the information aggregation step. It is shown that the estimation errors and their covariances from the proposed algorithm are strictly less than those from the unconstrained algorithm when projected. The Conservative Treatment of a Rare Postoperative Complication of DBS—Brain Abscess: Case Series

This case series primarily discusses a very rare complication following DBS surgery —— brain abscess.Case Presentation: We administered vancomycin and metronidazole to patients who developed brain abscesses after undergoing DBS surgery based on previous literature. After treatment, the abscess lesions and infection symptoms completely resolved, resulting in a good therapeutic outcome without the removal of the DBS system.Conclusion: In previous studies, similar cases always involved surgical intervention to drain the pus while also removing the DBS system; however, in our cases, the patient did not have the DBS system removed and achieved a good prognosis. To our knowledge, our two cases are among the few where a conservative treatment approach has been used for brain abscesses after DBS surgery.Keywords: DBS, brain abscess, STN, GPI, dyskinesi
Decentralized/distributed failure diagnosis and supervisory control of discrete event systems
Discrete event systems (DESs) are event-driven systems, which change their discrete states upon asynchronous occurrence of certain events. This dissertation addresses decentralized/distributed failure diagnosis and supervisory control of DESs.;In a decentralized diagnosis architecture, a local diagnoser performs failure diagnosis completely based on its own observations without communicating with others. A notion of codiagnosability is introduced to capture the property that a system should satisfy such that its failure behaviors are diagnosable by one of the local diagnosers within a bounded delay of their occurrences. Algorithms with polynomial complexity in the size of system/specification models are presented for verifying codiagnosability, computing diagnosis delay bound, synthesizing local diagnosers, and online diagnosis using them. Further diagnosis properties are investigated through the introduction of strong-(co)diagnosability and safe-codiagnosability.;In a distributed diagnosis architecture, local diagnosers exchange their individual observation with each other to perform failure diagnosis collaboratively. Finite automata models are constructed to capture communication delays, and the system/specification/sensing models are augmented with respect to the communication delay models. Via those augmented models, a distributed diagnosis problem is converted to a decentralized diagnosis problem. This allows distributed diagnosis analysis to be performed in same as decentralized diagnosis analysis. Also, in the unbounded delay case decidability of the problem is established.;For supervisory control of DESs, prioritized synchronous composition (PSC) based decentralized control and nondeterministic decentralized control are introduced. A PSC based decision fusion rule is more general than the conventional conjunctive/disjunctive decision fusion rule since it has control-authority besides control-capability. Algorithms are presented for existence and synthesis of PSC based supervisors. Computational complexity of the former is polynomial in the size of both system and specification models, while complexity of the latter is polynomial in the size of systems model, and exponential in the size of specification model. By using nondeterministic supervisors, a weaker condition than the condition of controllability together with co-observability is obtained for decentralized control. Algorithms of polynomial complexity are presented for both existence and synthesis of nondeterministic supervisors in target control and range control problems.</p
Research and Analysis of Cooling System for Diesel Locomotive
With the continuous development of diesel locomotives in the direction of single power, the heat dissipation ofthe locomotive cooling system is getting bigger and bigger, and its performance directly affects the economy andreliability of the locomotive. Due to the limitation of locomotive axle load and structural space size, there is a greattechnical problem between the cooling system design and the arrangement of the cooling device and the overalllayout of the locomotive. The increase in the number of radiators, making the number of cooling system processesare correspondingly increased, resulting in locomotive cooling system water resistance and water system pressure aregreatly improved. The traditional cooling system form and the radiator structure are diffi cult to meet the developmentrequirements of high power locomotive. Based on the conventional cooling system design method, a multi-processradiator is proposed. The multi-process cooling system has the advantages of high cooling effi ciency, simple structure,small auxiliary power consumption of the pump and high reliability of the cooling system components. In this paper,the cooling system and its function, the existing cooling technology and the multi-process radiator are studied andanalyzed, and the three-process radiator and the single-process radiator are tested and compared. In this paper, a newmulti-process radiator structure scheme is proposed for the design requirements of CKD9 diesel locomotive coolingsystem. The program eff ectively uses the radiator cooling water and cooling air temperature diff erence, to achieve thepurpose of increasing heat dissipation
