The Formation and Development of Blood Qi in Pre-Qin
This thesis intends to explore the formation and development of the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin dynasty. The formation of the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 is closely related to the body, which involves rituals, medicine, nature, cultivation, religion, and clan orientation in the intellectual context of the pre-Qin dynasty, and is a field where carious concepts are interwoven and co-constructed. The \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 develops a connotation beyond the physical.
This paper takes the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 as the object of study and attempts to comprehensively analyze the understanding of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin period, summarize the main aspects of its concept formation and development, and further discuss the role of the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin period and its significance in the overall context of pre-Qin thought.
The formation of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 implies a change in the understanding of the body in the pre-Qin period, from ghosts and gods causing illness to illnesses caused by blood and qi disharmony, and the different understanding of causes of illness reflects the development of medicine in the pre-Qin period. The use of blood and qi in rituals reflects the symbolic of pre-Qin thought.
After categorizing the origin of the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin period, the meaning of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin context can be classified. The meaning of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin period was first of all physiological, and the state of \ue3Blood Qi\ue3was used as a measure of physical health. As a manifestation of the body\ue2s state, \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 was used to regulate the practice of rituals by considering the physiological performance of the ritual performer to determine whether he or she was fully engaged in the rituals. The \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 is also a channel to connect people with heaven and earth. Through blood and smoke sacrifices, the rituals create a symbolic correspondence between the body and heaven and earth, thus realizing the induction of nature. In the process of induction, the subject of the ritual reveals his or her cosmic nature through the atmosphere of the ritual, and his or her body\ue2s blood is transformed into internal cultivation and work, which is manifested in the form of majestic manners. At the same time, \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 also carries the connection between individuals and their ancestors and clans, and they relate to society as members of the clan.
In summary, this thesis analyzes the changes and developments in the intellectual context of the pre-Qin dynasty, starting with the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2. The structure of the paper adopts a typology and analyzes the concept of\ue3Blood Qi\ue3in different aspects, hoping that the meaning of the concept of \ue2Blood Qi\ue2 in the pre-Qin period can be made more concrete through the discussion of this paper

The Formation of “the Biography of Su Qin” (蘇秦列傳 Su Qin Liezhuan)
Su Qin 蘇秦 is one of the most prominent figures of the Warring States Period. There are, however, glaring contradictions in the biography devoted to him in the Shiji (『史記』蘇秦列傳). These contradictions gave rise to controversies around Su Qin from early on. Some scholars went so far as to claim that all the accounts associated with Su Qin were pure fiction. Analyses of the Zhanguo zonghengjia shu 戰國縱橫家書 from the tomb in Mawangdui 馬王堆, which was discovered in 1973, have facilitated the study of Su Qin. On the one hand, it now seems to be generally agreed that Su Qin was engaged in a plot against Qi 齊 in the 280s BCE, there are still some scholars who, on the other hand, argue for the accuracy of the Shiji. The problems involving Su Qin are still not completely resolved. In this paper, I will argue that the cause of these problems lies in the lack of understanding of the historical development of the images of Su Qin. From this perspective, this paper will examine the editorial process of Su Qin's biography by analyzing the Shiji and other texts such as the Zhanguoce 戰國策. The story of Su Qin in his biography roughly falls into two parts. The first part narrates Su Qin's success in his official career. In this part, Su Qin persuaded the sovereigns of the six states to ally with one another, thus forming the vertical alliance (hezong 合從) which was to counteract Qin 秦. He was conferred a fief as the Lord of Wu‘an (Wu'an jun 武安君) for this accomplishment. The second part recounts Su Qin's conspiracy against Qi and his assassination. I propose that the latter narrative, in which Su Qin is involved in the fall of Qi, was created at the end of the Warring States Period while the former was invented later in the Han Dynasty. The author of the Shiji adopted these two narratives, using them as a framework into which details of Su Qin's biography were inserted. According to this analysis, it is impossible to claim that Su Qin's biography has a factual basis. However, it is not fair to blame the author of the Shiji for having adopted unreliable information about Su Qin. On the contrary, his biography provides substantial and valuable information for scholars to trace the change of Su Qin's images in history
