Hubungan Stunting dengan Prestasi Belajar Anak Sekolah Dasar di Daerah Kumuh, Kotamadya Jakarta Pusat

Background: Wasting is an acute malnutrition form that interrupts immune function, prolong duration of infection and in the end increase mortality risk of children. It is not clear yet which risk factor leading to wasting, simply because wasting-suspected risk factors were also involved in another kind of malnutrition such as stunting and underweight.
Objective: To determine whether infant and young child feeding practices is risk factor for wasting in under two year children.
Method: This research was mix method research which used matching case control design for quantitative research and focus group discussion to gather information in qualitative research. Case were wasting children age 3-23 months old (z-score WHZ <-2 SD) while control were non-wasting children age 3-23 months old (z-score WHZ ≥-2 SD). This research involved 106 under-two years old children and 14 nutritionist from 14 community health center which randomly chosen. Control group was matched by age and socio economic to case group.
Results: Case group had more proportion of inappropriate feeding practices (26.41%% vs 20.75%). More than half respondent failed to meet Indonesian recommended dietary allowance for energy (57.55%). Inappropriate infant and young child feeding practice significantly did not increased risk of wasting in under two children at Yogyakarta (OR=1.4; 95% CI:0.62-3.36; p=0.523). Nutritionist from community health center focused in consultation and counseling in effort to increase infant and young child feeding practice.
Conclusion: Feeding practices in under-two children in Yogyakarta was already good. Infant and young child feeding practice was not risk factor for wasting in under two years old children at Yogyakarta

AbstractProblems on nutrition deficiencies can occur in all age groups, including in school-aged children (6-12 years old). Families who live in slums were more likely to fail to meet the nutritional needs as well as unhygienic practice may increase the risk of infectious diseases. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between stunting and learning achievement of primary school children in slum areas in Central Jakarta. This study was an observational study with cross sectional design. Data were collected between June to November 2012 from students in six elementary schools of Kramat and Tanah Tinggi Sub-districts. Data collected were basic characteristics, hemoglobin (Hb) level, anthropometry, concentration score, learning achievement and food recall 1x24 hours. Respondents were 141 children consist of 86 girls (61%) and 55 boys (39%). Stunting proportion was 21.5% based on the screening measurement. Bivariate analysis revealed there was a relationship between HAZ (stunting indicator) and learning achievement of school-aged children.Keywords: stunting, learning achievements, school-aged children, slum area, learning concentrationAbstrakMasalah kekurangan gizi dapat terjadi pada semua kelompok umur, demikian pula pada anak umur sekolah (6–12 tahun). Keluarga yang hidup di daerah kumuh memiliki kecenderungan kurang dalam pemenuhan kebutuhan gizi beserta sanitasi lingkungan yang tidak sehat dapat meningkatkan risiko penyakit infeksi pada anak. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui hubungan antara status gizi pendek (stunting) dengan prestasi anak sekolah dasar di daerah kumuh di Kotamadya Jakarta Pusat. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian observasional dengan desain potong lintang. Pengambilan data dilakukan pada bulan Juni hingga November 2012 dari siswa/i dari 6 sekolah dasar di Kelurahan Kramat dan Tanah Tinggi. Data yang diambil meliputi karakteristik dasar, kadar hemoglobin (Hb), antropometri, skor konsentrasi, prestasi dan food recall 1x24 jam. Responden sejumlah 141 anak yang terdiri dari 86 anak perempuan (61%) dan 55 anak laki-laki (39%). Didapatkan proporsi status gizi pendek sebesar 21.5% dari pengukuran skrining. Dari analisis bivariat dapat disimpulkan bahwa terdapat hubungan antara z-score TB/U (indikator stunting) dengan prestasi belajar anak.Kata kunci: status gizi pendek, prestasi belajar, anak sekolah, daerah kumuh, konsentrasi belajar
PENGARUH LINGKUNGAN SUHU TINGGI DAN SUHU RENDAH TERHADAP KONSUMSI ZAT GIZI DAN STATUS GIZI ORANG DEWASA
ABSTRACTThe imbalance nutrition intake for a long term period can cause changes in weight, body composition andmay alter health problem. The environment temperature can affect the 24 Hours Energy Expenditure (24-hEE) magnitude. This research was aimed to investigate the differences of adult's nutrient intake pattern inhigh-temperature and low-temperature area. Research was held in high-temperature area (Jakarta) and lowtemperaturearea (Tawangmangu). Frequency distribution analysis was done to obtain the respondentcharacteristics, while bivariat test was done to determine the difference of energy consumption rate andnutritions. The results showed that the subjects in high-temperature area consumed higher total protein,total vitamin B2 and total calcium than the subjects in low-temperature area. Subject in low-temperaturearea consumed more partial calcium compare to subjects in high-temperature area. There was a signifiCantdifference in average of total vitamin A intake between less and overweight group (p=0,049); normal andoverweight group (p=0,007) and between overweight and obese group (p=0,004).Keywords: Nutrient intake, nutrition status, environment temperature ABSTRAKKetidakseimbangan asupan zat gizi pada jangka waktu yang lama mengakibatkan perubahan berat badan,komposisi tubuh dan memungkinan timbulnya gangguan kesehatan. Suhu lingkungan mempengaruhibesaran 24 Hours Energy Expenditure (24-h EE). Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui perbedaan polakonsumsi zat gizi orang dewasa di lingkungan bersuhu tinggi dan lingkungan bersuhu rendah. Penelitiandilakukan di area bersuhu tinggi (Jakarta) dan area bersuhu rendah (Tawangmangu). Analisis distribusifrekuensi dilakukan untuk mengetahui karakteristik responden sedangkan uji bivariat dilakukan untukmengetahui beda jumlah konsumsi energi dan zat gizi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa subyek padaarea suhu tinggi mengonsumsi protein total, vitamin B2 total dan kalsium total lebih banyak dibandingkansubyek di area suhu rendah. Sebaliknya subyek pada area suhu rendah mengonsumsi lebih banyak kalsiumparsial dibandingkan subyek di area suhu tinggi. Terdapat perbedaan rerata yang bermakna pada asupan VitA total antara kelompok gizi kurang dan lebih (p=0,049); kelompok gizi normal dan lebih (p=0,007) danantara kelompok gizi lebih dan obese (p=0,004).Kata kunci: Konsumsi zat gizi, status gizi, suhu lingkunga
