Market power analysis in Mongolian wheat industry
Mongolia has been in transition from a planned economy to a market economy for more than 20 years. In many sectors of the economy, it is necessary to define which market mechanisms exist. Grain occupies important economic sector in Mongolian economy. The current state of the wheat market has been studied based on NEIO research methods. In this study, the data for years from 2000 to 2017 and from 2007 to 2017 about wheat and wheat seed sector were taken through 6 indicators. We estimated the supply and demand functions for wheat and wheat seed. Using these functions, we defined market behavior, cost function, price elasticities, and market equilibrium. The capacity setting for product prices of wheat producers is weak, and this market is likely free-style competition

The Innovative Directions in Agriculture of Kazakhstan
In this article ways of increase of competitiveness of agrarian production, on the basis of introduction of the innovative directions in agriculture are considered. For a sustainable development of agriculture the innovative policy which basis there is an increase of efficiency of use of scientific and technical achievements has defining value. Becomes obvious that without harmonious, scientifically reasonable and balanced innovative policy, the system principle of its realization it is impossible to solve a problem of increase of profitability of agricultural production with scientific, resource, organizational and information support. Innovative process is connected with creation, development and distribution of innovations. It is process within which producers of innovations for receiving profit create and advance innovations to their consumers. The organization of innovative activity for the purpose of innovation finishing to the end user accepts huge value. Activization of innovative activity is the main condition in system of the factors providing development and increase of efficiency of agrarian production in market economy
Pastureland degradation and poverty among herders in Mongolia: Data analysis and game estimation

Includes bibliographical references.Presented at the Building resilience of Mongolian rangelands: a trans-disciplinary research conference held on June 9-10, 2015 in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.Mongolia has one of the strongest climate warming signals on Earth, and over 40% of the human population depends directly or indirectly on pastoral livestock production for their livelihoods. Thus, climate-driven changes in rangeland production will likely have a major effect on pastoral livelihoods. We examined patterns of climate change and rangeland production over 20 years in three ecological zones based on meteorological records, remote sensing and herder observations. We found the strongest trends in both instrument records and herder observations in the steppe zone, where summers are getting hotter and drier, winters colder, and rangeland production is declining. Instrument records and herder observations were most consistently aligned for total annual rainfall, and consensus among herders was greatest for changes in rainfall and production and lowest for temperature changes. We found more differences in herder observations between neighboring soums within the same ecozone than expected, suggesting the need for more fine-scale instrument observations to detect fine-scale patterns of change that herders observe
