Alexandru Puiu –Passion for Building
As long as the Department of International Economic
Relations, within the Academy of Economic Studies in
Bucharest (AES), belonged to the Faculty of Commerce,
until 1991, by the positions held and his personality, in the
‘70s and ‘80s, the destiny of the faculty was influenced by
Professor Alexandru Puiu, Ph.D. In 1977, as Dean, he was
the initiator of a new specialisation – Economy of public
food services and tourism (ESAPT). He was awarded the
“Petre S. Aurelian” Prize of the Academy for the
contribution brought to the literature. He used to invite the
best experts of the time for his courses; so in the ’80s, for
the academic subject of International economic relations,
the courses on international financial-currency relations
were given by the distinguished Professor Costin Kiriţescu
and by the young researcher from the Institute of World
Economy Mugur Isărescu. Although perceived as
demanding, both with himself and with the others, Professor Alexandru Puiu has imposed
himself as a righteous and impartial leader. Immediately after 1989 he reinvented himself
while fulfilling his vocation as “builder”. In 2011 he was awarded the “Virgil Madgearu”
Diploma of AES, with a Gold Medal. His professional projects are continued by his son
Ovidiu Puiu, already Ph.D. Professor and rector of “Constantin Brâncoveanu” University.

Metropolitan Alexandru Sterca-Şuluţiu in the National Movement
This study examines the activities of the Romanian Greek Catholic (Uniate) Metropolitan (Archbishop) of Blaj, Alexandru Sterca-Şuluţiu in support of the Romanian national movement in the Habsburg province of Transylvania between 1860 and 1865. His colleague, the Orthodox Bishop Andrei Şaguna, is the better known Transylvanian Romanian leader in this story, but Sterca-Şuluţiu made a unique contribution through his combative style that reflects his social origin as a member of the minor nobility of Transylvania's western mountain region

There are several aspects that willsignificantly mark internal audit in the 21st century, and the organizations that will takeaccount of these issues will have an internal audit service that will truly bring them addedvalue.internal audit, corporate governance, risk management, credit institutions.
The civil position of Alexandru V. Boldur
The article is devoted to the civil position of the Bessarabian historian Alexandru Boldur in certain life circumstances. The author on the basis of archival materials presents and analyzes a concrete example - two appeals, the first to the Bucharest authorities through the newspaper "Romany Libera", and the second on the occasion of the obituary dedicated to the historian Alexander Gonts. This is a convincing evidence of the personality of a man who was distinguished by courage and perseverance, such as Alexandru Boldur
Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning using Centralized Critics in Collaborative Environments
Agents trained through single-agent reinforcement learning methods such as self-play can provide a good level of performance in multi-agent settings and even in fully cooperative environments. However, most of the time, training multiple agents together using single-agent self-play yields poor results as each agent tries to learn how to perform their task while their teammates are also learning. Thus, training models to reach an optimal behaviour in such situations becomes a challenging, if not impossible issue to overcome. One possible solution to deal with this problem is to facilitate a centralized training process in which the policies of all agents are evaluated by a centralized critic that has access to the observations and actions of all the agents in the environment. By using this approach, the environment becomes stationary and the agents learn in a similar way to using a single-agent algorithm in settings where only one agent needs to be trained. In this paper, we test whether by using a multi-agent reinforcement learning algorithm with centralized critics, as opposed to single-agent ones, we would obtain an agent that generalizes better to new partners in a collaborative environment such as Overcooked, where coordination is critical for good performance. The results display a similar performance between the two algorithms when evaluated through self-play and slightly better or worse results when paired with the human model, representing a mediocre agent, depending on the map. Thus, the multi-agent, centralized critics algorithm used in this study did not train agents that generalize better to new partners. However, the training metrics clearly indicate that the centralized critics method makes the agents learn and converge twice as fast as its single-agent version.https://github.com/andrei-07/rp-overcooked-centralized-critics Link to GitHub repositoryCSE3000 Research ProjectComputer Science and Engineerin
ON THE MOLECULAR STRUCTURE OF THE CO-AUTHOR NETWORK OF ALEXANDRU T. BALABAN
Scientometric networks based on the bibliography of Professor Alexandru T. Balaban are analyzed. His position in the topological index research community and the structure of his own co-author network are considered. An analogy is suggested between coauthor networks and molecular structures.</p
BOOK REVIEW: Alexandru Ciocîltan, „Comunitățile germane de la sud de Carpați în Evul Mediu (secolele XIII-XVIII)” [“The German Communities from South of the Carpathians in the Middle Ages (13th-18th Centuries)”], Brăila, Editura Istros a Muzeului Brăilei, 2015, 517 p., ISBN: 978-606-654-121-3
The result of a daring doctoral research, Alexandru Ciocîltan’s volume contributes to the historiographical debate through a subject less familiar to the Romanian historical writing, though very rich in first-hand sources – the history of an ethno-confessional community surveyed throughout its entire existence, which had lasted for about five centuries. Put under the sign of several paradigms of historical research – covering local, minority or urban perspectives – the present work is a genuine milestone in this historian’s career, more and more specialized in decrypting the medieval and early-modern history of the German communities in Wallachia.
The particularity of the subject allowed the author to undertake a rather exponential approach throughout the seven chapters of his book, which resulted in a linear yet convincing historical monograph, sometimes strongly polemic and demanding when confronting historiographical blunders. In this regard, Ciocîltan resorted to the latest contributions of present-day historians, without ignoring the previous and more or less valuable works, to the results of older or newer archaeological excavations, but also to a multitude of written sources of diplomatic and epigraphic nature, chronicles or reports of Catholic missionaries. From this point of view, perhaps the biggest problem faced by the less-initiated reader in the space, the periods and the themes under scrutiny, is the absence of a critical and broad survey of the primary sources in a distinctive part of this work, afar from the few such aspects mentioned in the introduction
Andrei Tarkovsky:
The author studies the originality of the film language of Andrei Tarkovsky, one of the great filmmakers of the twentieth century. For this purpose he considers the symbolic, poetic, technical and mystical elements of Tarkovsky’s seven films. Beyond the standard critics, he builds an unitary language for the interpretation of a work reputedly tight.El autor estudia la originalidad del lenguaje cinematográfico de Andrei Tarkovsky, uno de los grandes directores de cine del siglo XX.
