    Memory characteristics in individuals with savant skills

    In this chapter it is argued that memory performance provides a coherent picture of savant abilities, even though the talents displayed make different demands on memory and learning. The chapter opens with an introduction to savant talent, to issues in relation to domain-specificity and modularity, as well as the role of practice and implicit memory. These topics have been picked out because of their relevance to memory and also because of associations with autism. Three sections then follow which focus on savant memory performance amongst numerical and calendar calculators, musicians and artists, where the evidence from empirical studies is placed in the context of the issues raised in the Introduction. Finally, a theoretical interpretation is presented which, it is argued, provides a convincing account of the development of savant abilities

Skripsi, Jurusan Biologi, Fakultas Matematika dan Ilmu Pengetahuan Alam Universitas Negeri Malang. Pembimbing: (I) Drs. Agus Dharmawan, M. Si. (II) Dr. Vivi Novianti, S.Si, M.Si Abstrak:  Kawasan Boon Pring Andeman merupakan salah satu unit Badan Usaha Milik Desa (BUMDES) berdasarkan peraturan Desa Sanankerto No. 5 Tahun 2009. Kawasan ini memiliki daya tarik berupa hutan bambu. Penelitian ini bertujuan mengetahui jenis tumbuhan penyusun vegetasi bambu, struktur vegetasi dan memetakan vegetasi bambu di Kawasan Boon Pring. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah cluster sampling (two-stage cluster) kemudian untuk pemetaan diawali dengan melakukan penjelajahan menggunakan jalur cruising berupa line pada tiap sub cluster. Untuk mengetahui struktur vegetasi dilakukan analisis vegetasi dengan menghitung indeks keanekargaman (H), indeks kemerataan (E) dan indeks kekayaan (R) pada rumpun bambu, INP herba kemudian kerapatan mutlak serta kerapatan relatif untuk tegakan. Kawasan Boon Pring bukan termasuk ke dalam kawasan konservasi melainkan termasuk ke dalam TWA yang merupakan bagian dari KPA. Sehingga dibagi menurut zonasi untuk mempermudah pengelolaan. Zonasi terdiri dari zona pemanfaatan, zona penyangga dan zona inti.  Hasil analisi vegetasi bambu diketahui nilai H termasuk kategori stabil, nilai E termasuk kategori kemerataan tinggi dan nilai R termasuk kategori kekayaan jenis rendah. Hasil penelitian ini ditemukan 7 jenis herba, 7 jenis tegakan dan 9 jenis bambu. Jenis tumbuhan penyusun vegetasi bambu terdiri dari herba, tegakan dan bambu. Pemetaan vegetasi bambu berdasarkan zonasi yang diolah menjadi peta tematik menggunakan ArcGis. Kata kunci : pemetaan, vegetasi, bambu, herba, tegakan,  cluster.

    Evaluating the use of a Teacher’s Diary to illuminate the moral dimensions of a teacher educator’s everyday work.

    This paper aims to evaluate my early attempts at using my Teacher’s Diary as a method (Aleskewski 2006, Holly & Altrichter 2011, Bold 2012) to gain a deeper insight into the moral dimensions of my day to day practice as a teacher educator in the tertiary sector in the UK. I chose this method of data collection firstly for its potential to be authentic, trustworthy and systematic due the very nature of the researcher as participant (Ellis 2004, 2009; Piper & Simons 2011) and secondly as a genuine method to interpret my everyday actions as moral ones. This evaluation aims to highlight the extent to which I was able to reach these aims as a novice auto-ethnographical researcher. Much of the literature reflecting upon the use of diaries and narratives in research is able to demonstrate the rich data that can emerge from the text that is then analysed and interpreted by both researcher and reader (Ellis 2004; Anderson 2006; Sparkes 2007; Kenton 2011; Bold 2012). This rich data is often put forward as best placed to help readers connect with the author and understand their experiences of their cultural context more fully. The first aim of this paper is to share my experiences of using this method of data collection by highlighting the contradictions and challenges and sometimes ‘messy’ nature of maintaining diaries (Holly & Altrichter 2011) within education research contexts as both the teacher-participant and researcher. The second aim of the paper is to reflect upon the usefulness of the dairy as a way of ‘seeing’ practice. The third aim is to briefly draw upon literature from the work of Pring (2001), Goodlad et al (1990) and Mahony (2009) and Fallona (2000) Noddings (2010) who suggest that teaching is a moral endeavour and that teacher’s morals can be visible in their practice and to analyse examples of the diary entries that show moral dimensions. The paper will add to the work of Webb & Blond (1995) and Husu & Tirri (2003) who also explore the extent to which a Teacher’s Diary can, in a practical way, show the moral aspects that arise, and the decisions taken, on a day to day basis by one teacher educator. The paper begins to highlight the extent to which morals can be taught or caught in this context, namely teacher education (Mahoney 2009), and makes the point as Kiss and Euban (2010) do, that developing the virtues of intellect either through explicit curriculum, pedagogical choices or institutional values, cannot be separated from developing virtues of character

    This study aims to describe: the management of the Batik Pring Sedapur industry through the Mukti Rahayu Joint Business Group (KUBE) in Magetan Regency. This type of qualitative research with ethnographic design. There are four research subjects, namely one leader and three batik makers. The data collection techniques are interviews and documentation. The validity of the data uses source triangulation. The data analysis technique uses an interactive model, namely data reduction, data presentation and conclusion drawing. The results of this study indicate that several aspects that are important in the management of the Batik Pring Sedapur industry through the Mukti Rahayu Joint Business Group (KUBE) in Magetan Regency are planning, organizing, implementing and monitoring. The existing planning in the Batik Pring Sedapur industry is regarding the selection of locations and buildings, capital planning and the provision of tools and materials. The organization has been organized because it has a clear organizational structure. Aspects of its implementation include production mechanisms, production time, production targets, product development, labor, working hours system, work placement, payroll system and marketing. The nine aspects of the implementation have been going well. Meanwhile, in the aspect of supervision, the industry still has shortcomings, namely the leadership is too trusting of all activities to all members so that the leadership does not carry out supervision and also rarely conducts work evaluations

    ABSTRAK Skripsi dengan judul “Keanekaragaman Ciri Morfologi Tumbuhan Bambu di Wisata Jajan Ndeso Sor Pring Desa Ngadi, Kecamatn Mojo, Kabupaten Kediri sebagai Sumber Belajar Biologi” ini ditulis oleh Lailatul Khikmiati, NIM. 17208163033, pembimbing Tutik Sri Wahyuni, M. Pd. Kata Kunci : Morfologi, Bambu, Sumber Belajar. Penelitian ini dilakukan berdasarkan latar belakang permasalahan kurangnya informasi atau pengetahuan masyarakat atau pengunjung wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Desa Ngadi, Kecamatan Mojo, Kabupaten Kediri mengenai jenis dan morfologi tumbuhan bambu. Selain itu, peserta didik tingkat SMP mengalami kesulitan dalam memahami morfologi luar pada tumbuhan karena kurangnya referensi dan sumber belajar yang kurang mendukung. Peneliti menghubungkan kedua permasalahan yang kemudian disusun menjadi produk sumber belajar berupa booklet jenis-jenis morfologi bambu di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Kediri dengan tujuan yaitu (1) untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis bambu yang terdapat di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Desa Ngadi, Kecamatan Mojo, Kabupaten Kediri, (2) Untuk menegetahui ciri morfologi dari setiap jenis bambu yang terdapat di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Desa Ngadi, Kecamatan Mojo, Kabupaten Kediri dan (3) untuk mengetahui kelayakan booklet keanekaragaman ciri morfologi bambu yang terdapat di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Desa Ngadi, Kecamatan Mojo, Kabupaten Kediri sebagai sumber belajar biologi. Penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian dan pengembangan (Research and Development). Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini meliputi observasi, dokumentasi, dan studi literatur sedangkan metode pengembangan yang digunakan adalah ADDIE yang meliputi tiga langkah pengembangan yaitu analisis (Analysis), desain (Desaign) dan pengembangan (Development). Pengumpulan data diawali dengan mencari jenis-jenis bambu yang terdapat di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring dengan pengamatan karakteristik morfologi setiap jenisnya dan studi literatur yang mendukung data morfologi tumbuhan kemudian penyususnan angket digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data hasil validasi kelayakan booklet jenis-jenis morfologi bambu di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Kediri yang akan dijawab oleh responden yaitu ahli materi dan ahli media. Metode yang digunakan dalam menganalisis data menggunakan skala likert dengan rentan skala lima dan kategori skala penilaian telah ditentukan. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian diketahui (1) terdapat tiga jenis bambu yaitu Gigantochloa apus, Gigantochloa atroviolacea dan Bambusa spinosa, (2) hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ketiga jenis tumbuhan bambu tersebut memiliki persamaan pada akar yaitu perakaran serabut, yang membedakan pada ketiga jenisnya adalah daun, batang dan pelepah bulunya. Anak daun pada bambusa spinosa lebih keci dibanding dengan keduanya, ukuran ruas batang gigantochloa apus lebih panjang dibanding keduanya, warna batang pada gigantochloa atroviolacea hitam, pelepah buluh bambusa spinosa berukuran lebih kecil dibanding keduanya dan (3) Hasil penelitian ahli materi diperoleh persentase sebesar 85,88% hasil penilaian ahli media diperoleh persentase sebesar 83,07%. Hasil rata-rata nilai keseluruhan booklet jenis-jenis morfologi tumbuhan bambu di wisata jajan ndeso sor pring Kediri adalah 84,5% sehingga dapat disimpulkan sumber belajar “Sangat Valid” untuk digunakan
