No full textEn los contenidos de este texto se intenta principalmente que los estudiantes del primer año de la Licenciatura y Profesorado en Ciencias Biológicas comprendan como se forma el registro fósil y cómo se datan los diferentes acontecimientos geológicos para construir un calendario donde ubicar los eventos biológicos a lo largo del tiempo geológico. Quaternary palynology history in Argentina: looking back at ninety years since its beginning
No full textEste trabajo reseña la historia del desarrollo de la palinología del Cuaternario en la Argentina durante los últimos 90 años. Se focaliza en el desempeño y las publicaciones de los investigadores en dicha disciplina en el contexto del desarrollo de las políticas institucionales y su relación con los procesos económicos y políticos, más que en el aporte que estas contribuciones han hecho a la comprensión de la historia de la vegetación, el clima y los ecosistemas. Se han priorizado los momentos y las contribuciones más significativos que representan hitos de esta historia. La reseña se ha dividido en cuatro períodos: (1) los comienzos (1929–1966); (2) la continuación (1977–1989); (3) el desarrollo (1990–2001) y (4) la consolidación (2002 al presente). En los últimos 20 años ha habido un gran impulso del análisis polínico del Cuaternario en la Argentina y, por lo tanto, se consideran finalmente los progresos y desafíos futuros en esta disciplina.This paper reviews the history of the development of the Quaternary palynology in Argentina during the last ninety years. This work focuses on the performance and publications by researchers in this discipline in the political and economic context of the development of institutional policies, rather than on advances about the history of vegetation, climate and ecosystems. The most significant moments and contributions that represent specific milestones of this history have been prioritized. This revision has been divided into four periods: (1) the beginnings (1929–1966); (2) the following years (1977–1989); (3) the development (1990–2001); and (4) the consolidation (2002 to present). In the last twenty years there has been an enormous development in Quaternary pollen analysis in Argentina, and thus future developments and challenges in this area are finally considered.Fil: Prieto, Aldo Raul. Experimental High-Frequency Parameter Identification of AC Electrical Motors
No full textIn order to predict conducted electromagnetic interference in inverter-motor drive systems, high-frequency (HF) motor models are requested and the involved parameters have to be available. In previous studies, the authors have presented an accurate HF model for induction motors and they have defined the procedures to identify the model parameters. In this paper, these results are extended to several types and sizes of industrial ac motors such as induction, synchronous reluctance (without interior permanent magnets), and brushless motors. The model parameter-identification procedure has been improved, and it is based on a least-squares data fitting applied to the measured magnitude and phase-frequency-response curves of the phase-to-ground and the phase-to-neutral impedances. The aim of this paper is to provide quick indications to select the suitable values of the HF model parameters, with reference to the size and type of the ac motor, to evaluate the HF voltage and current components in inverted-fed ac motor system

No full textDurante las celebraciones del Centenario de la Revolución de Mayo se organizó en Buenos Aires el Congreso Científico Internacional Americano (CCIA), el acontecimiento científico más importante de 1910. La Paleontología figuraba en el programa del CCIA como una subsección a desarrollarse en la sección Ciencias Geológicas. En este trabajo se analizan: (1) las posibles razones de la ausencia de ponencias y el desinterés de los paleontólogos en la subsección Paleontología, aun cuando los temas deseables estaban muy bien planteados, eran de interés continental y había un número importante de paleontólogos/geólogos nativos y/o naturalizados y extranjeros que practicaban las diferentes disciplinas paleontológicas en instituciones públicas y privadas; (2) la función que desempeñó Florentino Ameghino, quien tenía el papel protagónico dentro de la Paleontología, en las actividades científicas durante el Centenario y (3) la manera en que pudo haber influido su pensamiento en el desarrollo de las reuniones científicas durante ese tiempo. F. Ameghino estaba más preocupado por la Antropología física y por la antigüedad del hombre en el Plata que por la Paleontología de vertebrados. Su obsesión por la paleoantropología influyó en el desarrollo de las reuniones y marcó el rumbo hacia donde apuntaba el interés paleontológico argentino y el de sus colegas americanos durante el Centenario. Para la historia de la Paleontología argentina es notable la ausencia de trabajos paleontológicos en el congreso científico más importante del Centenario.During the celebrations of the Centenary of the May Revolution in Buenos Aires the American International Scientific Congress, the most important scientific event in 1910, was held. Paleontology was listed as a subsection in the Geosciences section in this congress. This study analyses (1) the possible reasons for the absence of contributions and paleontologists in the Paleontology subsection, even when the "desirable" topics were very well raised, of continental interest, and there was a large number of native and/or naturalized and foreign paleontologists/geologists practising different paleontological disciplines in public and private institutions; (2) the role played by Florentino Ameghino, who had the lead role in Paleontology, in the scientific activities during the Centenary; and (3) the way in which his thinking on paleontology could have influenced the development of the scientific meetings at that time. F. Ameghino was more concerned for the Physical anthropology and the early man in South America than for vertebrate paleontology. His paleoanthropological obsession influenced the development of meetings and marked the direction the paleontological interest of Argentineans and his American colleagues was taking during the Centenary. For the history of Argentine paleontology the absence of paleontological papers in the most important scientific congress of the Centenary is remarkable.Fil: Prieto, Aldo Raul.
