    Learned IE thesis: Docker image

This dataset contains a Docker image for reproducing the numerical experiments in the PhD thesis Title: Learned infinite elements for helioseismology Author: Janosch Preuß Advisors: Prof. Christoph Lehrenfeld, Prof. Thorsten Hohage, Dr. Damien Fournier Doctoral programme: Georg-August University School of Science (GAUSS) It includes all software and most of the data for the reproduction. To keep the image of a reasonable size, the remaining data has been uploaded in the following datasets on GRO.data: Learned IE thesis: Comparison of different atmospheric models for helioseismology Learned IE thesis: Comparison of transparent boundary conditions for the Atmo model Learned IE thesis: Transparent boundary conditions for the VAL-C model There is no need for action from the user here since the docker image contains scripts which automatically download this data for further postprocessing if required. The image was built based on the github repository https://gitlab.gwdg.de/learned_infinite_elements/diss_jp_repro at commit: ac895f4a341444e5eb186d93276345578ef765a1. The tarball diss_jp_repro.tar.gz contains an archive of this repository. A README file is included in the repository as well as in the docker image learnedIE_diss_repro.tar, which contains detailed instructions (which commands to execute and so on) on how to obtain the results given in the thesis. An online version of the README file can be found here. The image can additionally be found on Docker Hub: janosch2888/diss_jp:191021. Important note: If you have a problem with downloading the docker image, please use the alternative URL https://data.goettingen-research-online.de/download/learnedIE_diss_repro.tar

Learned IE thesis: Comparison of different atmospheric models for helioseismology

This dataset contains intermediate data products for some experiments in the PhD thesis "Learned infinite elements for helioseismology" (J.Preuß) which compare different models for the solar atmosphere. A brief description of the provided data is given below: The files "power-spectrum-VALC-meshed.out" and "power-spectrum-Atmo-whitw.out" contain the power spectrum computed with a meshed VAL-C atmosphere and with the exact Atmo condition obtained by evaluating the Whittaker function, respectively. Harmonic degrees up to l=1000 and 7200 equidistant frequencies ranging from 0.0 mHz up to 8.3 mHz have been computed. The files "dtn_nr_VALC_intro.out" and "dtn_nr_Whitw_intro.out" contain the corresponding Dirichlet-to-Neumann numbers (for the Atmo model taken about 500km above the photosphere and for the VAL-C model directly at the photosphere). The file "mdi_medium_l.np" is a reference power spectrum obtained from satellite observations (HMI). Please see here for the corresponding publication. A description how the computed data has been obtained and how it should be postprocessed further is available at this Gitlab repository.</a

This dataset contains intermediate data products for some experiments in the PhD thesis "Learned infinite elements for helioseismology" (J.Preuß) which compare different transparent boundary conditions for the Atmo model of the solar atmosphere. A brief description of the provided data is given below: The file "power-spectrum-Atmo-whitw-comp.out" contains the reference power spectrum obtained from the exact transparent boundary condition for the Atmo model based on evaluation of the Whittaker function. The corresponding dtn numbers (at 500 km above the solar photosphere) are available in the file "dtn_nr_Whitw-comp.out". Harmonic degrees up to l=1000 and 2400 equidistant frequencies ranging from 0 mHz up to 12 mHz have been computed. The files "power-spectrum-nonlocal.out", "power-spectrum-SHF1a.out" and "power-spectrum-ARBC1.out" contain the power spectra obtained from the respective atmospheric radiation boundary conditions (i.e. nonlocal, S-HF-1a and A-RBC-1). The corresponding dtn numbers are available in the files "dtn_nr_nonlocal.out", "dtn_nr_S-HF-1a.out" and "dtn_nr_ARBC1.out". The files "power-spectrum-Nj-Atmo.out" contain the power spectra computed using learned IEs with N=j for j in [0,1,2,3,4]. The corresponding dtn numbers are available in the files "dtn_nr_learned_Nj-Atmo.out". A description how the computed data has been obtained and how it should be postprocessed further is available at this Gitlab repository.</a

This dataset contains intermediate data products for some experiments in the PhD thesis "Learned infinite elements for helioseismology" (J.Preuß). We study the accuracy and efficiency of learned IEs for representing a solar atmosphere based on the VAL-C model. A brief description of the provided data is given below: The file "power-spectrum-VALC-meshed.out" contains the reference power spectrum computed with a fully meshed atmosphere. Harmonic degrees up to l=1000 and 7200 equidistant frequencies ranging from 0 mHz up to 8.3 mHz have been considered. The files "power-spectrum-Nj-VALC.out" contain the power spectra obtained with learned IEs using N=j for j in [0,1,2,3,4]. A description how the computed data has been obtained and how it should be postprocessed further is available at this Gitlab repository.</a
