Estimation of residual stresses for multi-layer circumferential welds of oil and gas pipelines
The article presents results of investigation of residual stresses for multi-layer circumferential welds of oil and gas pipelines. The research was carried out on a designed and manufactured testing equipment for the experimental determination of the stress state parameters in the zone of multi-layer welded joints of pipe segments with the external diameter of 1020 mm and the wall thicknesses of 9.5 mm, of 14 mm, and of 22 mm which were made of carbon steels of different quality (13G1S, 13G1SU, 17G1S and 17G1SU). Determination of residual stresses in the zone of multi-layered circumferential welds of pipe segments was carried out by means of the method by the electronic speckle-interferometry and by the method of magnetoelasticity. On the basic of analysis of the obtained graphic dependences, the recommendations for engineering practice are suggested
The Court of Rostyslav Mykhailovych, Prince and Dominus of Machou, in Hungary (An Excerpt from a Family History between the Late 13th and Mid 14th Centuries)
One of the least-explored aspects of the biography of the Ruthenian Prince Rostyslav Mykhailovych, a maternal nephew of King Daniel Romanovych of Rus’, is his court in a new homeland, the Kingdom of Hungary, between 1242/43 and 1262/64. It is known from various sources that he had numerous supporters among the secular and clerical nobility not only in Hungary but also in the lands of Galicia, Chernihiv, and Bolokhov. To date, however, too little information has been obtained from historical records containing clear mention of individuals who threw in their lot with the runaway prince in the lands of King Bela IV, especially after the defeat at Yaroslav on August 17, 1245. Having verified chronicles and Hungarian charters, the author concludes that the family of Rostyslav Mykhailovych and Princess Anna might well have been related to Lev and his sons, Fedir and Stephan, who were lords of Borod Land near Mukachevo in Bereg County. These people, who must have been descended from the nobility of Chernihiv or Galicia, succeeded one another in an effort to put Prince Rostyslav himself or his second cousin Iziaslav Volodymyrovych on the Galician throne throughout the 1240s and 1250s, all to no avail. What is important is that such attempts were always timed to coincide with the Mongol threat to the lands of the Romanids, which provided the claimants to the Galician throne with additional (albeit missed) chances of success. Their loyalty to the son-in-law of the Hungarian king was rewarded by the latter’s daughter Anna (terminus ante quem 1264); she granted them lands, which were afterwards in the successive possession of the last members of the Arpad dynasty on the Hungarian throne as well as the new kings from the Anjou dynasty. Borod Land remained in the family’s possession at least until the second half of the 14th century
Development of a fatigue-based asphalt binder purchase specification for airfield asphalt pavements
The Port Authority of New York/New Jersey (PANYNJ) has recently been experiencing a wide range of service lives with their asphalt runways. In particular, PANYNJ are noting pavement lives ranging from 3 to 15+ years, with major distress observed being top down cracking. To help explain the varied degree of fatigue cracking performance, a research study was undertaken to evaluate six different asphalt runways of different fatigue cracking lives. Airfield cores from PANYNJ were supplied to the Rutgers Asphalt Pavement Laboratory (RAPL) for forensic study. Six runways were cored to evaluate the asphalt binder cracking properties of the different mixtures placed. Each runway resulted in varying degrees of fatigue cracking performance. Therefore, an extensive study was conducted to determine what asphalt binder correlated best to the field performance. Laboratory binder testing showed that both the Bending Beam Rheometer (BBR) ∆Tc and Double Edge Notched Tension (DENT) Critical Opening Displacement (CTOD) properties correlated to field observations. The Glover-Rowe parameters provided reasonable comparisons to the observed field performance. However, the results from the Linear Amplitude Sweep Test (LAS) conflicted with intermediate PG grade in terms of field observations. Further binder testing showed that “fatigue” properties of extracted and recovered asphalt binders improved with depth and appears to have little aging at depth greater than 1 inch. The testing program indicated that binder tests were capable of capturing the differences in the observed field performance. Furthermore, the research study refined laboratory PAV conditioning to match field aging, and also proposed test parameters thresholds to be used as asphalt binder purchase “PG-Plus” specification for airfield asphalt pavements.M.S.Includes bibliographical referencesby Rostyslav Shamborovsky

Analysis of the force and power characteristics of a twin crank-type mechanism of an enhanced vibration exciter
The crank-type vibration exciters represent innovative and promising actuators for a variety of vibratory technological equipment. Extensive research has demonstrated their potential for generating specific trajectories of the working components of various technological machines. This study builds upon previous investigations of the authors, focusing on the kinematics and dynamics of crank-type vibration exciters, with a specific emphasis on analyzing the forces, moments, and torques acting on the elements of the twin crank-type actuating mechanism. The research methodology involves the development of a simplified dynamic diagram of the mechanism and derivation of the analytical expressions to describe its force parameters. Mathematical modeling and computer simulation are then conducted to analyze the forces, moments, and torques experienced by the mechanism during its motion under different operational conditions and design parameters. The results obtained provide time-dependent profiles of these parameters across various conditions and design configurations of the twin crank-type mechanism. A key scientific contribution of this paper consists in the development of the theoretical basis for creating novel techniques of dynamic and strength analysis and optimization of design and operational parameters of enhanced vibration exciters equipped with twin crank-type mechanisms. The research findings offer valuable insights for engineers involved in the development and enhancement of vibratory technological machines equipped with crank-type vibration exciters
Dynamics and stability analysis of a single-mass oscillatory system with a slider-crank vibration exciter
Traditional slider-crank mechanisms transmit high loads through the mechanical structure, hindering the design of compact machines. The paper considers the dynamic behavior of a single-mass oscillatory system actuated by a slider-crank excitation mechanism. The research methodology involves mathematical modeling and computer simulation to analyze the trajectory and kinematic characteristics of the considered oscillatory system. The dynamic diagram of the single-mass vibratory system is considered, and the mathematical model describing its motion is derived using Euler-Lagrange equations. The obtained results show the time response curves of the oscillating mass plane-parallel motion under different excitation conditions, as well as the amplitude and phase responses as functions of frequency. The primary scientific novelty of this research is determining the influence of specific design parameters of the vibration exciter on the trajectory of the working member motion, as well as defining the stability of the response at different frequencies. The research highlights the possibility of generating circular, elliptical, and rectilinear vibrations of the working member depending on the specific operation, such as conveying, screening, sieving, or compacting. This adaptability is crucial for tailoring the system to different industrial applications and optimizing its performance for specific tasks
Burlesque And Satire In The Works Of Bohdan Zholdak
The article analyses modes of humor in the prose of Bohdan Zholdak, who is quite recognizable author in Ukrainian literature in the end of the 20th and the beginning of the 21st century. The broader literary context comprehended in the article demonstrates a wide application of different comic forms in the said period. B. Zholdak is seen as the successor of Ukrainian humoristic tradition that has been developing since the latest three centuries. The article proposes the hypothesis that burlesque and humor dominate in colonial / postcolonial literature, while metropolis develops a satirical tradition. In his prose B. Zholdak moves form humor and sporadic burlesque of his early stories towards satire in his late cinematic short novel “Ukry”. This transformation testifies to the overcoming of the colonial complex by the author

Background. It is known that the state of physical fitness of people who come to rehabilitation varies considerable range. We know also that this contingent characterized significant deviations in both sides of the gender and age norms of a number of parameters hemodynamic and autonomic regulation as well as of lipid and electrolytes exchange. Hence the assumptions listed parameters related to the state of the physical form. We set a goal by correlation analysis to detect hemodynamic and metabolic as well as hormonal factors of fitness level. Materials and methods. The object of observation were 29 women (average age 45 years with a range of 29-61 years) patients with chronic cholecystitis in remission who arrived at spa Truskavets’ (Ukraine) for rehabilitation. Physical form evaluated on a 5-point Ǻstrand scale using veloergometry. State of central hemodynamics was investigated by echocardiography. Plasma levels of cortisol, aldosterone, estradiol, TSH and triiodothyronine determined by ELISA, of triacylglycerides, cholesterol in lipoproteins of different density, uric acid, phosphate, calcium, magnesium, sodium and potassium determined by methods reflometry and spectrophotometry. In addition, determined levels of sodium and potassium in erythrocytes as well as the activity of Na,K-, Ca- and Mg-ATPase of erythrocyte membranes. Testing was performed twice. Results. Ascertained wide variety of fitness level on a 5-point Ǻstrand scale: unsatisfactory in 15,5%, satisfactory in 64% and good in 20,5%. The method of correlation analysis revealed both positive (levels in plasma estradiol, cholesterol of alpha-lipoproteines, triiodothyronine, magnesium and level in erythrocytes sodium) and negative (blood pressure, levels in plasma cortisol, triacylglicerides, TTH, uric acid and Mg-ATPase activity) actotropic factors which together determine the level of physical fitness on 55%. Conclusion. Identified actotropic factors may be viewed as objects of targeting of fitness rehabilitation in women.
