Interior Color and Psychological Functioning in a University Residence Hall
The research exploited a unique architectural setting of a university residence hall composed by six separate buildings that matched for every architectural detail and differed only for the interior color (violet, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red). Four hundred and forty-three students living in the six buildings for an average of 13.33 months participated in a study that assessed color preference (hue and lightness), lightness preference, and the effects of color on studying and mood. The results showed a preference for blue interiors, followed by green, violet, orange, yellow, and red. A preference bias was found for the specific color in which the student lived. Gender differences emerged for the preference of blue and violet. Room-lightness was significantly affected by the interior color. Room ceiling was preferred white. Blue as interior color was considered to facilitate studying activity. The use of differentiated colors in the six buildings was evaluated to significantly facilitate orienting and wayfinding. A significant relation was found between a calm mood and preference for blue

The intervention focuses on the identification and chronological problems concerning the historical and literary figure of Iacopo from Benevento, judge and poet who lived in the Frederick era, author of the elegiac comedy «De uxore cerdonis» and of the «Carmina moralia», too often confused with another Iacopo from Benevento, a contemporary of him, a Dominican friar, author of the «Viridarium consolationis» and other writings of a homiletic and exegetical nature

Occupational Welfare Arrangements Negotiated at the Transnational Level. A Laboratory for European Social Dialogue?
This paper discusses the role of European social dialogue in the establishment of occupational welfare arrangements at the transnational level. In the first part, dedicated to the definition of the key concepts, it is argued that occupational welfare should be framed into the flexicurity context; hence, the analysis of occupational welfare schemes permits the shedding of light on certain characteristics of the flexicurity approach, especially as long as the conditions for the pursuit of ‘high road’ policies is concerned. In the second part, building on the findings of an international research project coordinated by the author, a sample of transnational texts that contain provisions dedicated to occupational welfare is presented, with the aim of explaining whether and under what conditions European social dialogue can be mobilised as a regulatory resource for the implementation of occupational welfare policies linking, from a ‘high road’ perspective, flexibility and competitiveness-oriented strategies with the protection of workers' needs. </jats:p
Per la biografia di fr. Iacopo Passavanti OP (1302 ca.-1357)
Iacopo Passavanti is currently known for his sermons and as the author of one of the oldest theological treatises, which was redacted both in Latin and Vernacular. However, he was also a leading member of the Order of Preachers and a spokesman of an innovative reli- gious and cultural project which, it seems, he held in common with the entirety of the Order of St. Dominic. With this paper, we intend to recreate the friar’s biography and shed light on his works. Thus, we will proceed with a critical reading of the documents that concern him, which we organized, for the occasion, in a new Diplomatic Code
Verification of an energy-based design procedure for seismic retrofit of a school building
A viable design criterion of supplemental damping strategies for seismic retrofit of frame structures, recently proposed by the first author (Terenzi, 2018), is applied in this paper to a school building in Florence dating back to the early 1980s. The building is composed of two portions, with reinforced concrete and steel frame structure, respectively. Similarly to several other buildings of the same period, the structure is infilled by heavy reinforced concrete panels interacting with the frame elements under horizontal loads. A careful reconstruction of the structural characteristics of the constituting members, based on the original design documentation and on-site testing campaigns, highlighted specific drawbacks in current state, related to a remarkable degration of the materials and a poor performance of several elements. The retrofit solution considered in this study consists in removing the infill panels and replacing them with a set of dissipative braces incorporating fluid viscous dampers as protective devices. The design is carried out by the sizing criterion mentioned above, targeting an elastic structural response up to the maximum considered earthquake normative level

Abstract: Iacopo Stefaneschi (1260/70-1341) was one of the most important witnesses of the formidable years marked by the papal election of Celestine V, by his subsequent resignation, and finally by his canonization. Connected with his “great refusal” were the election and coronation of Boniface VIII, which are celebrated in the work here published for the first time with an Italian translation, an introduction and commentary notes.
This edition is based on the ms. of the Vatican Apostolic Library, Vat. lat. 4933, the only ms. that contains the fully first draft of the work: controlled directly by the author, the text is dotted with explanatory glosses attributable to the same Stefaneschi.
