Considering the difficulties associated with the experimental determination of binary mixture adsorption isotherms, pure-gas adsorption information becomes vital in the prediction of these isotherms and the corresponding phase equilibria necessary in the design of adsorptive separation units. Experimental equilibrium isotherms describing the adsorption of pure N\rm\sb2,\ CH\sb4, and CO in a natural aluminosilicate molecular sieve (clinoptilolite from Cuba) and two synthetic small-pore aluminophosphate molecular sieves (AlPO\sb4-17 and AlPO\sb4-18) have been determined using the volumetric method at 40\sp\circC over a pressure range up to about 1000 mm Hg, and subsequently fitted with the Langmuir and Flory-Huggins Vacancy Solution Theory equations. Additional Langmuir and FH-VST fits of equilibrium isotherms previously measured over the same pressure range at room temperature and 40\sp\circC to describe the equilibrium adsorption of the same three adsorbates in two aluminosilicate molecular sieves (natural clinoptilolite from Turkey and zeolite 5A), as well as in a medium-pore aluminophosphate molecular sieve AlPO\sb4-11 were also obtained. The Freundlich equation was found to yield a better fit than either the Langmuir or FH-VST equations for the experimental adsorption isotherms of N\sb2 and CO on AlPO\sb4-17. The higher observed capacities of the aluminosilicate molecular sieves, compared to the aluminophosphates, were attributed to the energetic heterogeneity conferred by the presence of framework-charge compensating cations. The model parameters obtained by fitting the experimental pure-component adsorption isotherms permitted the prediction of the mixture adsorption phase diagrams and the binary adsorption isotherms by the Extended Langmuir Model and the Flory-Huggins Vacancy Solution Model for the three possible binary mixtures at 101.3 kPa total pressure and the pure-component adsorption temperatures investigated. The Ideal Adsorbed Solution Theory was also applied with the explanation of the behaviour predicted by each model for each adsorption system was attempted. (Abstract shortened by UMI.

Entre os principais resultados, destacamos a possibilidade de criar diálogo entre autores-roteiristas e teorias recentes relacionadas à profissão e identificamos algumas obras de ficção televisiva brasileira que exibem notadamente essas características autorais em suas extensões transmídiaThe following research has as its study object the figure of the author-screenwriter relating to the transmedia universe of Brazilian television fiction. The research starts from the hypothesis that the author-screenwriter acting in all dimensions of creating transmedia content is something viable, possible and recommended. Thus, it\'s comprehensible that the authorscreenwriter has initial agglutinative power to stablish more creative strategies to generate fictional products with a superior symbolic dimension than its material dimension. Stories, that is, fictional narratives in Brazilian television, by having inherent expression, have the potential of larger and more expressive circulation and redundancy if they were, at first glance, created and disseminated by the author-screenwriter. To reach the objectives of the research, we developed a methodological strategy that used qualitative methods of data analysis and used concepts and operations common to the ethnographic method, more specifically of virtual ethnography. While investigating related content, we collected data through a classic bibliographic research; internet bibliographic research and research of articles and other non-academic materials. We created and applied an online survey which had the objective of discovering the work methods that related to transmedia content (concept) between authors-screenwriters (target population). We developed, also, a method of syntheticanalytic studies that served as base for the scaling of authors, from the most theory-based to the practical-based. Among the main results, we highlight the possibility of the creation of dialog between authors-screenwriters about recent theories related to the profession and identified some works of Brazilian television fiction that notably exhibit those authorial characteristics on its transmedia extensions

Em síntese, com a Dimensão Sensível, sublinhei a importância do/a analista estar-com o outro/paciente em comunidade de destino, uma vez que tal é a própria condição do devir humanoTwo were the initial points of this thesis: 1) the consideration of the human becoming by the vertex of creativity, which conceives that the experiential existence of the human occurs in the space between the reality subjectively created and the reality objectively perceived, linking creativity with the possibility of feeling life as something real and as something worth living, and; 2) the issues related to the emergence of creative processes in the psychoanalytic clinic. From the study on what are the foundations that support those two points, I approached the concept of Winnicott`s potential space that, in general lines and in the context of the primitive emotional development, means a mutual affectation area between mother/infant. This concept means also an intermediate field, a third area of experience associated with the transitional phenomena and transitional objects related with the perpetual human need to maintain the internal and external realities separated, yet interrelated. Intermediate area outside of which there is not the illusion of contact necessary to achieve the feeling of self-realization. In the clinical context, the relevance of this area, of a space in-between analyst/analysand, emerged questions about the clinical management, about the analyst`s sensibility and about the establishment of the (counter)transference relationship. As a result of the explanation of inherent elements therefrom, stemmed the proposition of the Sensitive Dimension. The factors listed in this thesis, for its description, were: the conquest of confidence; sincerity; mirroring; availability and devotion; concern; empathy, and; shared play. The research problem occurred, therefore, from my clinical experience and my main authors of reference and dialogue were Sandor Ferenczi and Donald W. Winnicott. The work is divided into four parts, of which the first three were constituted to clarify what I named of space in-between analyst/analysand, space which works as support of the proposition of the Sensitive Dimension and which announces, in terms of treatment direction, the encounter with otherness. The fourth and final part of the work aimed at the description of the Sensitive Dimension from factors that affect it and/or it comes (above listed factors). In short, with the Sensitive Dimension, I emphasized the importance of the analyst be-with the other/patient, by a community of destiny, since this is the very condition of human becomin

Baseband-Function Placement with Multi-Task Traffic Prediction for 5G Radio Access Networks

    No full text
The 5G Radio Access Network (RAN) virtualization aims to improve network quality and lower the operator's costs. One of its main features is the functional split, i.e., dividing the instantiation of RAN baseband functions into different units over metro-network nodes. However, its optimal placement is non-trivial: it depends on the application requirements and on the expected traffic volume, whose daily variation highly impacts the total power consumption. Current optimization solutions fail to provide a placement solution capable of handling traffic fluctuations. In fact, the standard machine learning algorithms used in the literature for planning the network resources in advance result in an allocation that is inadequate to carry the actual traffic at all the time-slots. Hence, we must reserve an artificial buffer capacity in the nodes to ensure feasibility. Instead, our proposed method exploits a fine-grained two-step multi-task algorithm that predicts the mean and quantile traffic, making the artificial capacity no longer necessary. The subsequent placement uses mixed-integer linear programming and a heuristic. The former considers the expected traffic in the objective function (to estimate costs) and the quantile in the constraints (to enforce capacity limits). The heuristic combines the mean and quantile results to minimize the power and comply with the requirements. While using sufficiently large artificial buffers guarantees robustness with a mild power increase compared to the oracle, the fine-grained multi-task model improves the results, reducing the power consumption compared to the mean and meets all constraints. The heuristic enables significant computational time reduction.Green Open Access added to TU Delft Institutional Repository 'You share, we take care!' - Taverne project https://www.openaccess.nl/en/you-share-we-take-care Otherwise as indicated in the copyright section: the publisher is the copyright holder of this work and the author uses the Dutch legislation to make this work public.Cyber Securit
