Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Aprendizagem matemática através de situações emergentes do cotidiano: relatos de experiência
Get PDFtrabalho tem por objetivo relatar as experiências de uma acadêmica do Curso de Licenciatura em Pedagogia se constituindo professora em formação inicial, enquanto trabalha como auxiliar de professora em escolas da rede privada da cidade de Porto Alegre. A pesquisa tem o intuito de apresentar atividades de educação matemática que foram realizadas no período de 2017 a 2020 com alunos de Educação Infantil e Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental, especialmente no que tange a abordagem de situações que emergem do cotidiano. A pesquisa foi qualitativa, no formato de narrativa autobiográfica, utilizando para a produção de dados as memórias da autora e registros em fotos e quadros. O referencial teórico e a análise dos dados estão pautados em referências que abordam a formação de professores e educação matemática fundamentadas na Teoria Histórico-Cultural. A narrativa está apoiada nas reflexões sobre as práticas mais significativas sendo dividida em três categorias, a saber: uma breve contextualização das escolas, um olhar para o ensino da matemática nesses espaços, e, por último, vendo a matemática de um modo diferente. Em cada uma dessas categorias também são apresentadas as contribuições teóricas de autores estudados na produção deste trabalho de curso. Por fim, destaca-se como resultado da pesquisa a compreensão de diferentes modos de ensinar matemática aos alunos e assim a importância e necessidade de a professora estudar, organizar o ensino intencionalmente, e pautar atividades de ensino em situações emergentes do cotidiano que possam contextualizar o que vai ser ensinado, especialmente o conhecimento matemático.
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
O clube de matemática : reflexões sobre a organização do Ensino de matemática nos anos iniciais do ensino fundamental
Get PDFEste trabalho investiga as possíveis contribuições do Clube de Matemática na atividade de ensino de quatro professoras atuantes nos Anos Iniciais do Ensino Fundamental. Na perspectiva de atingir esse objetivo, a questão central que serve como fio condutor na pesquisa é: de que forma o Clube de Matemática pode contribuir na organização do ensino no cotidiano do professor? Os referenciais teóricos utilizados partem dos princípios da Teoria Histórico-Cultural proposta por Vygotsky, da Teoria da Atividade de Leontiev (1978, 1983) e, de forma mais específica, da Atividade Orientadora de Ensino apresentada por Moura (1996, 2000). No percurso metodológico do trabalho, de natureza qualitativa, os dados utilizados na análise foram produzidos através de um questionário respondido por quatro professoras participantes do Clube de Matemática, e de quatro gravações ocorridas nos encontros semanais do projeto com integrantes da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Norte (UFRN) e da Universidade Federal do Rio Grande do Sul (UFRGS). Os dados foram sistematizados a partir de três unidades: algumas compreensões das professoras acerca do ensino e aprendizagem de conhecimentos matemáticos; estratégias utilizadas na abordagem de conteúdos matemáticos; e aspectos considerados na organização do ensino. Na análise percebemos que as experiências vivenciadas pelas docentes no contexto do projeto proporcionaram a elas uma perspectiva teórica e metodológica para o ensino de matemática diferenciada em relação a sua formação inicial nas disciplinas de graduação e ao ensino tradicional, orientada nos pressupostos da Atividade Orientadora de Ensino. Deste modo, concluímos que as apropriações e vivências oriundas do projeto influem nas nossas compreensões acerca da função social do professor e do papel do conhecimento matemático. Decorrente a isto, essas concepções refletem nas ações dentro da sala de aula, nas escolhas dos recursos, conteúdos, intervenções e até mesmo na organização do ambiente físico
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. No full textWe have done our best to complete the author checklist relating to the use of animals in the hut study. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
