    Biplot analiza uticaja prajminga semena na početni porast ponika kukuruza

    The objectives of this study were to determine the effects of different priming treatments and genotypes on maize germination and early seedling growth traits, as well as to examine the associations among these traits. In addition, the application of genotype by trait biplot methodology in this type of analysis was evaluated. Seed priming treatment was conducted on ten maize inbred lines by soaking seeds in water (hydropriming) or in 0.5% KNO3 solution. Seed was sown in sterile moistened sand and placed at suboptimal (15°C) and optimal temperature (25°C) for seven days. After that, seedling length and seedling weight were measured, final germination, time to 50% emergence and vigour index were calculated. The results showed that seed priming can improve seedling growth traits at both temperatures. There are differences in genotype responses to various seed priming solutions. The observed differences represent useful information for the selection of adapted maize inbred line and adjustment of priming treatment for sowing in different temperature conditions. This study showed that biplot could easily be used for assessing the effect of seed priming, or some other treatment, on seedling growth traits. Moreover, it can be used to understand the associations among the seedling growth traits.Cilj ovog ispitivanja bilo je utvrđivanje uticaja prajming tretmana i genotipa na klijanje i rani porast ponika kukuruza, kao i sagledavanje povezanosti ovih osobina. Takođe, analizirana je mogućnost primene GT biplot metodologije u ovom tipu ispitivanja. Prajming tretman se sastojao od potapanja semena deset inbred linija kukuruza u vodu (hidroprajming) i rastvor KNO3. Seme je zatim posejano u posude sa vlažnim sterilnom peskom i stavljeno na suboptimalnu (15°C) i optimalnu temperaturu (25°C) u trajanju od 7 dana. Nakon toga je izmerena dužina i masa ponika, utvrđena je klijavost i izračunato vreme potrebno za 50% nicanja, kao i vigor indeks. Rezultati su pokazali da početni porast ponika na obe temperature može biti poboljšan prajmingom semena. Primećena je različita reakcija linija na korišćene prajming tretmane. Ove razlike predstavljaju korisnu informaciju za izbor odgovarajuće inbred linije i pogodnog prajming tretmana za setvu u različitim temperaturnim uslovima. Ispitivanje je pokazalo da se biplot analiza može koristiti kao brz vizuelni metod za proučavanje efekta prajminga ili nekog drugog tretmana semena na različite parametre klijanja, nicanja i početnog porasta ponika. Takođe, ova analiza se može koristiti i za sagledavanje veze između ispitivanih osobina

    Uticaj insekticida na klijavost semena i parametre porasta ponika inbred linija kukuruza

    In some years, polyphagous insects can threaten production of maize seed. Use of insecticides through seed treatment is known to be the most economical chemical control, which imposed the need to determine the impact of used insecticides on seed quality. Concen­trated suspensions for seed treatment, based on active substances clothianidin, imidacloprid, thiamethoxam, tefluthrin + thiamethoxam and fipronil are included in this test. The results indicate differences in germination capacity and seedling growth parameters of maize inbred lines when insecticides with different active substances were applied. All applied insecticides decreased the percentage of germination (93.3 to 94.3%) when compa­red to control (96.6%). Insecticides based on active substances tefluthrin + thiamethoxam, imidacloprid and fipronil increased the number of abnormal seedlings. Products based on active ingredient clothianidin, increased shoot length of seedlings (146 mm) when compared to the control, while products based on active ingredient thiamethoxam + tefluthrin increased the root length of seedlings (154.6 mm).U pojedinim godinama, napadi polifagnih insekata mogu da ugroze semensku proizvodnju kukuruza. Od hemijskih mera zaštite najekonomičnije je tretiranje semena insekticidnim preparatima, a to je dovelo do ispitivanja njihovog uticaja na kvalitet semena. Koncentrovane suspenzije za tretiranje semena na bazi aktivnih materija klotianidin, imidakloprid, tiametoksam, teflutrin+tiametoksam i fipronil su obuhvaćene ovim testiranjem. Dobijeni rezultati ukazuju na postojanje razlika u ispitivanjima klijavosti semena i parametara porasta ponika samooplodnih linija kukuruza kod primene insekticida na bazi različitih aktivnih materija. Svi primenjeni preparati su uticali na smanjenje procenta klijavosti semena (93,3-94,3%). Primenom preparata na bazi aktivnih materija teflutrin+tiametoksam, imidakloprid i fipronil došlo je do povećenje broja atipičnih ponika. Preparat na bazi aktivne materije klotianidin uticao je na povećanje dužine nadzemnog dela ponika (146 mm) u odnosu na kontrolu, dok je preparat na bazi aktivne materije teflutrin+tiametoksam uticao na povećanje dužine korena ponika (154,6 mm)

    Uticaj biostimulatora na dužinu korena i nadzemnog dela ponika roditeljskih linija suncokreta

    The aim of this paper was to examine the effects of biostimulators on root and shoot length of sunflower seedling deriving from seeds treated with biostimulators prior to sowing. Experiment was conducted at the Institute of Field and Vegetable Crops on five cytoplasmic male sterile lines: OCMS: - 98 (L1), HA-NS-26 (L2), PH-BC2-74 (L3), VL-A-8 (L4), and HA-26-PR (L5). The seed was produced in the period from 2010 to 2012. Two seed variants were tested - non-treated seed and seed which was prior to application of biostimulators treated with metalaxyl-m. Prior to sowing, seed was treated with commercial preparations Slavol S, Bioplant Flora and the combination of the two. Results of this research point out that application of appropriate biostimulator has positive effect on growth and development of roots and shoots of seedling, while inadequate combination of biostimulators leads to inhibitory effect.Cilj rada bio je da se ispita kako biostimulatori deluju na dužinu korena i nadzemnog dela ponika kada se pre setve njima tretira seme. Testiranje je sprovedeno u novosadskom Institutu za ratarstvo i povrtarstvo na semenu pet citoplazmatski muško sterilnih linija suncokreta: OCMS- 98 (L1), HA-NS-26 (L2), PH-BC2-74 (L3), VL-A-8 (L4) i HA-26-PR (L5) koje je proizvedeno u periodu od 2010.-2012. godine. Testirane su dve varijante semena: netretirano seme i seme koje je pre primene biostimulator a tretirano metalaksilom-m. Seme je pre setve tretirano komercijalnim preparatima Slavol S, Bioplant Flora i njihovom kombinacijom. Rezultati ovog istraživanja ukazuju da primena adekvatnog biostimulatora utiče pozitivno na rast i razvoj korena i nadzemnog dela ponika dok neadekvatna kombinacija biostimulatora dovodi do inhibitornog delovanja. Tretiranje semena pre setve preparatom BIOPLANT FLORA pokazalo je dobre rezultate obzirom da je koren ponika duži u proseku za 2,4 cm kod varijante koja je tretirana ovim preparatom odnosno za 2,2 cm kod varijante semena gde je osim biostimulatora upotrebljen i fungicid na bazi metalaksila-m. Ovaj preparat je imao najbolji uticaj i na dužinu nadzemnog dela ponika povećavši ga u proseku za 1,5 cm odnosno za 1,2 cm u odnosu na kontrolnu varijantu

    The effects of different doses (0, 90, 270, 810 kg/ha) of selenium, molybdenum and zinc microelements on their translocation and accumulation in grains, seedling growth and grain infestation were examined under field conditions on a calcareous chernozem soil. Thirteen years after the application of selenium, molybdenum and zinc, significant translocation and accumulation of these elements in the grain were established, indicating a long-term effect of these microelements on triticale plants. The highest degree of accumulation in grains and seedling shoots was found for selenium, then molybdenum, while the detected amounts of zinc were significantly lower. The degree of accumulation of all three microelements in the grain and seedling shoot increased as doses increased. Translocation index from shoot to grain at the grain-filling phase was the highest when zinc was used, then selenium, and the lowest when molybdenum was applied. The highest translocation index from the grain during germination into seedling shoots was obtained with zinc, then molybdenum and selenium. Translocation indexes of the investigated elements significantly decreased as the doses of elements increased. Dry weight of seedling shoots decreased as molybdenum and zinc in grain increased. High selenium concentration moderately stimulated seedling development, pointing out a high tolerance of triticale to higher concentration of this microelement at initial development stages. Infestatation with grain weevil was provoked by high concentrations of these microelements in the grain. High concentrations of zinc and selenium, in particular, significantly decreased the percentage of damaged grains, while molybdenum moderately increased their numbers. The effect of zinc and molybdenum may be attributed to their chemical effect, while selenium effect may also be referred to a negative effect of the volatile selenium compound. The effect of selenium, molybdenum and zinc contamination of grains on the seedling growth and frequency of grain weevil was different, and the emphasis was on selenium.Na karbonatnom černozemu, u poljskim uslovima proučeno je dejstvo različitih doza (0, 90, 270, 810 kg/ha) mikroelemenata selena, molibdena i cinka na njihovu translokaciju i akumulaciju u zrnu tritikalea, na rast ponika i zaraženost zrna pšeničnim žiškom. Trinaest godina posle upotrebe selena, molibdena i cinka utvrđena je njihova značajna translokacija i akumulacija u zrno, što ukazuje da je dugi niz godina nakon njihove primene značajan deo ostao u zemljištu u obliku pristupačnom za biljke. Stepen akumulacije u zrnu i u izdanku ponika bio je daleko najveći kod selena, manji kod molibdena, a znatno manji kod cinka. Stepen akumulacije sva tri elementa u zrnu i u izdanku ponika se povećao povećanjem primenjenih doza. Indeks translokacije iz izdanka u zrno u toku njegovog nalivanja bio je najveći kod cinka, zatim kod selena, najmanji kod molibdena, a iz zrna u toku klijanja u izdanak ponika kod cinka, molibdena i selena. Indeks translokacije ispitivanih elemenata značajno se smanjio povećanjem primenjenih doza. Masa suve materije izdanka ponika smanjila se povećanjem sadržaja molibdena i cinka u zrnu, dok je visoka koncentracija selena u zrnu delovala blago stimulativno na razvoj ponika, što ukazuje na visoku tolerantnost tritikalea u početnim fazama razvoja na prisustvo veće koncentracije ovog elementa. Visoka koncentracija ispitivanih mikroelemenata u zrnu uticala je i na pojavu pšeničnog žiška. Visoke koncentracije cinka, a posebno selena, značajno su smanjile udeo oštećenih zrna, dok ih je prisusutvo molibdena blago povećalo. Dejstvo cinka i molibdena može se pripisati njihovom hemijskom dejstvu, dok se u slučaju selena ne isključuje i odbojni efekat isparljivog jedinjenja selena. Uticaj kontaminacije zrna selenom, molibdenom i cinkom na rast ponika i intenzitet pojave pšeničnog žiška bio je različit, posebno u slučaju selena

    Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

    The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed.     “Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

    Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

    We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature.     Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

    We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
