Hoffmann). Each Syriac word is defined in Arabic, often with more than one Arabic equivalent; in addition, the author deals not just with individual Syriac words, but in some cases with phrases. Gottheil used 21 manuscripts (from Oxford, London, Paris, Berlin, Leiden, and Rome) for this edition, and he has supplied a thorough critical apparatus; the manuscripts are described in the introduction. While some manuscripts give the Arabic glosses in Syriac characters (i.e. Garshuni), Gottheil has presented them here in Arabic script. These two volumes will be of great interest to Syriac lexicographers and those who study interactions between Syriac and Arabic.Contains an English introduction by Richard J.H. Gotthei

Mimari ve resim alanındaki sanatsal ifade, üst düzey bürokrasinin estetik anlayışını yansıtır ve sanatın biçimsel dilini belirler. Sanatçılar tarafından ortaya konan bu sanatsal dil, Osmanlı'da alınan mirasla Cumhuriyet'in ilk yıllarında kendini gösterir. Cumhuriyet'in, çağdaş bir geleceğin yaratımı için ortaya koyduğu devrim ideolojisi ve bu ideolojiye bağlı köklü değişimler, sanat alanında biçimsel değişimleri de beraberinde getirir. The past scene of hospitality ethics: A citation analysis perspective
No full textThe literature on ethics research in hospitality has significantly expanded in recent years. The objective of this study is to present a comprehensive overview of ethical research in the field of hospitality literature. This will facilitate insight into future developments by examining the past. A two-step approach is employed, comprising citation analysis, a bibliometric analysis technique, and a systematic review. The former is used to identify themes, which are then discussed in the latter. The citation analysis revealed five main themes of the domain: environmental concerns, organisational citizenship behaviour, reputation management and ethical leadership. Environmental concerns were examined from two perspectives: the viewpoint of hotels and the environmental behaviours of tourists and consumers. Subsequently, a systematic review was conducted using the TCM framework (theory/context/methodology) with the objective of identifying the most prominent theories, contexts, and methodological issues associated with each theme. The issue has predominantly been discussed using quantitative analysis and social-based theories. Research has been mainly conducted in the US and the EU. Environmental ethics is likely to remain a significant area of concern in the future. This study offers a perspective that can aid researchers in developing future studies on ethics and help practitioners enhance the ethical climate of the industry. © The Author(s) 2024
Topology optimization of an anti roll bar of a heavy commercial truck for vehicle dynamics and durability
No full textMeeting the stringent requirements on fuel economy and emissions is still a challenge for automotive original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). In this study, we consider the light weighting opportunities of a heavy commercial truck by evaluating the various requirements of its anti-roll bar. First, an MSC.ADAMS model of the truck is analyzed under some standard vehicle dynamics maneuvers and a target for the anti roll bar is set. A topology optimization study is then performed using Solid Isotropic Material with Penalization (SIMP) method to determine its dimensions and material to meet this target. For this purpose, a finite element (FE) model of the anti-roll bar is developed in order to determine its torsional stiffness using MSC.Nastran commercial software. The advantages and disadvantages of various optimization results are discussed. Finally, fatigue performance of the anti-roll bar is assessed under the road load data coming from various road simulations. The results prove that the simulation tools and optimization methods offer great capabilities to meet challenging requirements of automotive industry
Examining the effects of economic policy uncertainties on the stock market index: Analysis by nonlinear ARDL method for G7 countries
Get PDFUncertainties are important factors that influence the decisions made by societies. Economic uncertainties closely affect society's consumption and investment behaviour. Rising stock markets increase investors' confidence, resulting in more purchases and higher stock prices and, in this context, an increase in consumer spending. When stock prices decrease, company investments are also negatively affected as consumer spending declines. Thus, increases and decreases in stock prices affect the general economy as they affect business confidence and consumers. The study analyses the effect of uncertainty in economic policies on stock markets, leading to a decrease in investor confidence in the economy. Such effects in G7 countries were examined using the nonlinear autoregressive distributed lag (ARDL) model for the period 1998:M05-2020:M09. This method was able to capture symmetries and asymmetries in the relationship between economic policy uncertainties and the stock markets. The results showed that heightened un- certainty in economic policy in Japan has a significantly negative effect on the stock market index, but in Germany and Italy, it has a significantly positive effect. Rising interest rates have negatively affected the stock market index in the United States, Canada, Japan, Italy, and the United Kingdom. The increase in the industrial production index is positively related to the stock market index in the United States, Canada, Japan, Italy, and France. Additionally, uncertainties in economic policy have asymmetric impacts on the stock market index in the United States, Canada, Japan and Italy, and symmetrical impacts in Germany, France and the United Kingdom
