No full textDer Stuttgarter Physikprofessor Heinz Pick (1912 - 1983) besucht im Juni 1974 seinen Doktorvater Robert Wichard Pohl (1884 1976). In einem Interview sprechen die beiden über die Anfänge von Pohls Arbeit in Göttingen. Von der Photoleitung in Isolatoren kommen sie auf die F-Zentren als Donatoren und auf die Bedeutung sorgfältiger Kristallherstellung. Bei den Untersuchungen an F-Donatoren spielt die optische Spektroskopie für R. W. Pohl eine ganz wesentliche Rolle. Mit Kollegen wie dem Chemiker Adolf Windaus arbeitet Pohl zusammen, die Entdeckung Karl Baedekers, der als Erster Elektronenleitung in Isolatoren beschrieben hat, beeinflusst seine Arbeit. Das Interview schließt mit gemeinsamen Erinnerungen beider Gesprächsteilnehmer an den 2. Weltkrieg und einer Würdigung Bernhard Woldemar Schmidts und seinen Beitrag zur Entwicklung der modernen Astronomie durch den Schmidt-Spiegel. Das Interview wird durch den Lebenslauf ergänzt, der 1946 von der Militärregierung durch den Rektor der Universität Göttingen angefordert wurde, und der hier unverändert abgedruckt wird

Pohl, Mrs. Pohl provides an engaging personal perspective of her late husband, his development as a botanist, his career, and his family life. We gain a sense of Dr. Pohl as a dedicated scientist as well as a humanist. Although Dr. Pohl possessed an abiding curiosity regarding all things natural, he is best known and remembered for his focus on grasses. As Mrs. Pohl documents, this interest in grasses began in the late 1930\u27s and continued throughout his life-ultimately he was regarded as an authority on grass taxonomy both nationally and internationally. His contributions to plant systematics were abundant (Appendix I); as a researcher, he published numerous papers and books, and as an educator, he taught students and the public alike about the wonders of grasses and other plants

No full textPrezentowany tom studiów zawiera opracowania na temat postprawdy w różnych jej kontekstach. Są to na ogół opinie sceptyczne, zarówno co do zasadności używania tego terminu, jak i jego znaczenia jako zjawiska społecznego. Zasadniczą motywacją do wydania niniejszej publikacji jest ogromny i wciąż postępujący deficyt prawdy w dyskursie publicznym. Ginie ona w natłoku redundantnego jazgotu zmediatyzowanego i zmedializowanego świata. Odbiorca pozostaje bezbronny w obliczu infoataku na niespotykaną dotąd skalę. Mediatyzacja i medializacja sprawiają, iż rzeczywistość niedostrzegalnie przeplata się z jej konstruktami medialnymi, które tworzą tzw. „hiperrzeczywistość”. Tak budowane „obrazy w głowach” pozbawione są mocnego zakorzenienia w rzeczywistości, a więc i w prawdzie. Stwarza to pole do różnego rodzaju nadużyć oraz niebezpieczeństwo polegające na niewierności uczestnika dyskursu publicznego prawdzie i jej etycznym oraz moralnym wymogom. Jest to nasze wspólne zmartwienia i troska jednocześnie o to, jak przywrócić etos prawdy w komunikacyjnych relacjach międzyludzkich

Gerhart Pohl and Hauptmann, ... Carl Hauptmann
No full textThe following text presents a little‑known fact from the history of Silesian‑German literature: the relationship between the writers Gerhart Pohl and Carl Hauptmann. Pohl (1902–1966) – first and foremost a prose writer, but also a playwright, publisher, reader, columnist and prominent member of writers’ associations – is known in literary circles primarily as an acquaintance, biographer and a kind of “guardian of memory” of the other Hauptmann brother, the Nobel Prize winner Gerhart. A closer examination of the sources, however, reveals Carl Hauptmann’s significant role in Pohl’s literary legacy and biography, as well as the great esteem in which Pohl held Carl Hauptmann. Firstly – Gerhart Pohl mentions the novel “Einhart der Lächler” as one of the main inspirations for taking the literary path. Secondly – Pohl’s first meeting with Carl Hauptmann takes place more than a decade earlier than Pohl’s meeting with Gerhart Hauptmann. Finally – Pohl considers Carl Hauptmann to be a precursor of Expressionism, as well as the author of the greatest German‑language book of the Rübezahl.
