Impact of interval training on muscles and the cardiac functional state.
The aim of this study was to establish the impact of interval training session on muscles and cardiac functional state. The following tasks were set: 1- Determine the influence of anaerobic interval training session on the muscular performance during the vertical jump tasks. 2 – Compare the muscle work capacity after and before anaerobic interval training on 30 seconds vertical jump test. 3 – Determine the influence of anaerobic work-load on dynamics of cardiac indices while performing a dosed exercise test. 4 – Determine the influence of interval anaerobic training on cardiac indices while performing a dosed and maximal exercise tests. Methods. The study subjects were healthy and physical active students (men, n = 12). Before and after the anaerobic type training session performed by method of interval training were tested on physical and functional condition tests. To find out physical conditional were used vertical jump tasks. To asses the vertical jump the force plate with the jump height and take-off time measurer was used. Function condition tests were Roufier test and the 30 second vertical jump test, and after 5 minutes Roufier test was repeated. Main parameters of anaerobic interval training were 5x200m (28,0–29,0) [2:00] or some more repetition. The results obtained during the study showed that muscular changes can be described by registered parameters of vertical jumps indicating that the same result of the jump could be achieved by use if compensatory abilities, i.e. slower muscular contraction compensated by deeper squat and increase the strength component. Changes in heart rate and the ratio of JT/RR during the relative rest and their changes while performing a dosed exercise test provide the information about cardiac functional state. The episodes of functional ischemic nature can be observed in some cases but the averaged data did not allow making the conclusion that this physiological mechanism prevails at all cases
Assessment of functional peculiarities of cardiovascular system in endurance and not-sportsman cohorts.
Cardiovascular system is the main physiological system determining physical working capasity or endurance. The main task of cardiovascular system to deliver the oxygen anf energy substrates to tisues and muscles as well. The purpors of this study was to compare functional peculiarities of cardiovascular system in endurance and non-sportsmans cohorts while performing various exercise tests. Objectives: 1 - to compare the cardiovascular reactions in endurance and non-sportsmans cohorts while performing graded exercise stress (bycycle ergometry); 2 – to compare the cardiovascular reactions in endurance and non-sportsmans cohorts while performing dosed aerobic exercise test; 3 – to compare the cardiovascular reactions in endurance and non-sportsmans cohorts while performing maximal anaerobic workload (30-s vertical jumps test); 4 – to compare the informativeness of aplyed exercise protocols for assessment of cardiovascular reactions in endurance and non-sportsmans cohorts. Methods. The participant fo this study was 7 endurance athletes and 16 non-sportsman. Subjects performed three exercise tests: graded exercise stress (bycycle ergometry); dosed aerobic exercise test (Roufier Test) maximal anaerobic workload (30-s vertical jumps test). A computerized ECG analysis system \"Kaunas-load\" was recorded ECG and assessed FCU, JT interval, ST-segment depression changes in workloads and the first three minutes of recovery. Results and Conclusions. The registration of ECG during the graded exercise stress revealed many significant differences between non- athletes and endurance athletes cohorts. Persons adapted to endurance type of exercising have a lower resting heart rate values, as well as lower values in all stages of the increasing workload, as well as lower values of maximum heart rate, heart rate, and a faster recovery from exercise. Differences between athletes and sportsmen groups can be found only in relation to their original values, or JT interval when compared to the research carried out by first increasing load cycles. Non-athletes persons in steps increasing workload cycling exercise in the phase of apparent functional ischemic events, which is not typical lavinantiems endurance athletes. Resulta obtained during the study revealed a trend that during the dosed workload the highest values of herat rate was in non-sportsman cohort than it was in case of endurance cohort. The same tendency was in changes of JT intervalo g ECG, i.e. shorter values sof JT intervals was in non-sportsman cohorts. But the best evidence of functional preaparerness was founded by assesing the expresion of functional ischemical episodes: electrocardiogram ST-segment depression increased only in the non-sportsman cohorts. The maximum values of informational dimension, indicating a valued signal complexity in non-sportsman cohort were found dwhile the graded exercise sress (bycycle ergometry) was applied, while in the endurance cohort the maximum values of informational dimension were during the compound of the two workloads, i.e. the dosed aerobic and maximal aerobic exercising
Factors limiting sports cardiovascujar performance and dynamics of cardiovascujar indices under interval training.
At onset of exercising cardiovascular system activates a lot of mechanism, bet there exist a limit to what any body function could be activated. The factors limiting cardiovascular performance was objective in this study. The aim of the study was to define the peculiarities in changes of functional ischemic episodes while performing incremental exercise stress and to assess cardiac functional parameters change on the interval training method to carry out the exercise. Objectives: 1 – to compare the Dynamics of heart rate changes while performing in steps increasing workload by bicycle ergometer; 2 – to determine the peculiarities in occuring of functional ischemic episodes in myocardium in endurance trained athletes and non-sportsman cohorts; 3 – to determine the dynamics of cardiovascular functional indices under influence of interval training session. Methods. The seven endurance athletes and 16 endurance trained persons take part in the study. Was applied every minute provocative increasing in workload by 50W every one minute. The 12-lead standard leads of ECG was recordered by use the computerised system \"Kaunas-load\" developed in University of Medicine, Institute of Cardiology. ECG was recorded before the charge, at the end of every minute of the workload step and at the end of the first three minutes of recovery. The most significant parameters of ECG were taken for analysis: heart rate, JT interval, JT/RR, ST-segment depression and QRS complex duration. Results. The results showed that the increments every minute increasing load cycle ergometer recorded the maximal heart rate values can not provide information about preparedness. Assessment of this parameter should be done taking into account the workload at the moment of the registration. Subjects in a given intensity of subjectively assessed as mild exercise, a couch potato individuals characterized by higher HR values than endurance athletes. Assessment of increase of ST-segment depression in steps increasing physical loads are the indices of unphysiological exercising, but it is informative only in terms while the non-athletes cardiovascular functional fitness is assessed. There no significant serious ischemical episodes in endurance cohort while the exercising in increasing of workload. The dosed exercise testing of subjects during exercise recorded functional ischemic myocardial events, demonstrating the lack of coronary vascular function. Interval training method of exercising leads to a strong effect on myocardium and this must be taken into account both the coaches and sports medicine physicians. After the interval training exercise session there no serious ischemical episodes - the coronary functional assessment do not reflect the severity of exercise. After the interval training exercising carried out by this method the duration of QRS complex, reflecting the rapid right and left ventricular depolarization, is shorter and under the dosed exercise test the duration of QRS decreasing, but on the next day during the dosed exercise test, more than half of the subjects responded to dosed exercising by elongation of ORS, which shows that the workload of performed training session was too high
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more
