The impact of communication skills training on the quality of palliative care provision
Get PDFUvod: Eden od težjih procesov, s katerimi se soočajo vsi vključeni v paliativi oskrbi, je komunikacija. Zaradi tega so pomembna učinkovita in redna izobraževanja na področju komunikacije v paliativni oskrbi ter nasploh komunikacija v zdravstvu, saj lahko preprečijo neželene dogodke in zaplete. Namen zaključnega dela je raziskati, kako vpliva izobraževanje na izboljšanje komunikacijskih veščin za kakovost nudenja paliativne oskrbe s strani zdravstvenega osebja.
Metode: Za izdelavo zaključnega dela smo uporabili sistematični pregled z metodo pregleda, analize, sinteze in kompilacije zdravstvene ter strokovne literature. Pri iskanju literature so nam bile v pomoč podatkovne baze PubMed, CHINAL, Cochran library, SAGE in Web of Science. Za oceno kakovosti pri izbranih raziskavah smo uporabili hierarhijo dokazov. Za zbiranje in sintezo podatkov pa smo se ravnali po smernicah za izvajanje narativne sinteze.
Rezultati: Od pregledanih 1101 raziskav smo v zaključnem delu uporabili 7 raziskav. Ugotavljamo, da izobraževanje iz komunikacijskih veščin pripomore h kakovostnejši in strokovnejši paliativni oskrbi, saj je z izobraževanji omogočeno zdravstvenim delavcem lažje spopadanje s težkimi situacijami, prav tako pa jim pripomorejo k natančnejši komunikaciji s pacienti.
Razprava in Zaključek: Rezultati so pokazali, da je učinkovita komunikacija temelj za kakovostno paliativno oskrbo. Vendar pa se pojavljajo omejitve, zaradi katerih bi se morale izoblikovati standardizirane, tematsko usmerjene izobraževalne strategije, katere bi vključevale izkustvene metode učenja in bi temeljile na preverjenih modelih komunikacije.Introduction: Communication is one of the more challenging processes faced by everyone involved in palliative care. Due to this, effective and regular training in communication within palliative care, as well as communication in healthcare in general, is crucial, as it can prevent unwanted events and complications. This final thesis aims to explore how education aimed at improving communication skills impacts the quality of palliative care provided by healthcare professionals.
Methods: For the preparation of this final paper, we used a systematic review with the methods of review, analysis, synthesis, and compilation of healthcare and professional literature. In the literature search, we were assisted by databases such as PubMed, CHINAL, Cochran Library, SAGE, and Web of Science. To assess the quality of the selected studies, we used the hierarchy of evidence. For data collection and synthesis, we followed the guidelines for conducting a narrative synthesis.
Results: From the review of 1,101 studies, we included 7 studies in the final thesis. We found that education in communication skills contributes to higher-quality and more professional palliative care. Education enables healthcare workers to better cope with difficult situations and also helps them communicate more effectively with patients.
Discussion and Conclusion: The results showed that effective communication is the foundation for quality palliative care. However, there are limitations, and therefore, standardized, topic-oriented educational strategies should be developed, which would include experiential learning methods and be based on proven communication models
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
