Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
An Institutionalisation View of the ERP in Large Organisations
Enterprise resource planning (ERP) system is a highly complex information system. Contemporary information systems research on ERP technology focuses on factors influencing success of its organizational adoption. However, adoption is largely discussed in terms of technology implementation rather than its assimilation within the organization. ERP implementation, however, is not a one off endorsement of technology; instead its implementation is a continuous process of technology assimilation aimed at organisational evolution with and within the technical, organisational, and cultural context of the organisation. This process of institutionalisation maintains legitimacy, power, and social and economic fitness of the organisation on an on-going basis. This paper investigates ERP implementation challenges through various stages of ERP assimilation process considering institutional pressures, institutional change, and other technology implementation/ assimilation theories. It draws out a framework to guide ERP institutionalisation research in large organisations in Australia

The analysis of IS implementation and lifecycle management theories concludes that, ERP systems or for that matter any information system is a socio-technical system; and the social, cultural, organisational and competitive context of their implementation cannot be ignored. Various institutional pressures are exerted on ERP initiation, adoption, and routinization by organisations to achieve competitive, economic, technical, environmental and organisational legitimacy and authority. There are theoretical supports available for environmental isomorphic mechanisms; however, comparing to tremendous amount of studies on coercive, normative, and mimetic, there are little studies that actually look at other organisational and internal institutional elements which are influencing technology implementation, assimilation and institutionalisation process. This research aims to fill this gap by introducing perceptive, confirmative, and configurative mechanisms as new forms of institutional isomorphism, i.e., organisational isomorphism

The importance of studying institutional view and theories in the context of contemporary business organisations have been emphasized by many researchers. However, the literature overlooked the institutional elements which are influencing technology implementation in organisations. This study aims to investigate the issues posed to ERP implementation through the lens of technology institutionalisation perspective by considering institutional theory, institutional pressures, and other organisational and technological factors. This research in progress paper describes the research framework for ERP institutionalisation that provides an integrative view of how ERP is implemented, assimilated, and institutionalised within the organisations. This framework brings together the effects of various well-defined IS theories into a unified and integrated structure. Moreover, this paper looks at a broad sample of current IS literature on ERP systems’ successes and failures over various stages of institutionalisation process. Based on the results of literature analysis, tackling an ERP institutionalisation, for any organisation, requires some introspection and true assessment of priorities, objectives and external business environment of the organisation.
Deinstitutionalising Existing Technologies to Institutionalise Cloud Infrastructure
Cloud computing is attracting attention in business world as well as in academic research. This interest is spreading fast to different areas of demand and supply side of cloud computing. However, the decision to move to a cloud is dicey and requires lot of attention in deinstitutionalising existing organisational technical infrastructure to facilitate implementation, assimilation, routinization, and institutionalisation of cloud services. At the core of this process is as much of emphasize on unlearning as it is on learning to use cloud services. The overall aim of this research is to facilitate this process by developing theoretical and practical support for business organisations to transfer to cloud paradigm. However, this paper describes the background and the research framework that drives this research to obtain the overall objectives. This paper highlights that the process of deinstitutionalisation and reinstitutionalisation is evolutionary and nonlinear and its success depends on a number of organisational, technical, environmental, social, cultural, and other institutional factors and their mutual interactions
Social and Cultural Issues in Institutionalisation of ERP Systems
ERP systems are highly integrated and complex systems. These systems have become a core technology in many businesses since the past two decades; however, the implemented systems do not always bring about the planned results and still many ERP implementations fails to achieve the desired benefits. This is mainly because of the way these organisations have implemented ERP and the way this technology has been institutionalised within the organisations. ERP institutionalisation, however, occurs when its usage becomes stable, routinized and embedded within the organisation’s work processes and value chain activities. Many research has been studied the success/ failure factors associated with ERP implementation which is valuable for advanced understanding of ERP implementation success, however, alone it is not sufficient for explaining social and cultural issues in institutionalisation of ERP systems. This research, thus, aims to fill this gap by offering a preliminary framework which studies the socio-cultural drivers influencing various stages of assimilation process within organisations. Towards the next stage of this research, the authors will engage different Australian organisations who use ERP systems in their organisations to investigate socio-cultural aspects which managers should consider through initiation, adoption and routinization of ERP usage. The refined version of this framework, obtained after qualitative analysis of gathered data, may be mastered as a decision making tool by business manager to guide the organisation through various stages of ERP assimilation and institutionalisation

Critical Success Factors for Institutionalisation of Information Systems
Information systems institutionalisation is a process through which technology becomes aligned with the organizational environment and, thus, becomes an integral part of the organization. Technology implementation in contemporary business organizations should not be viewed as one off endorsement of technology. Instead it is an important ingredient in the ongoing process of organizational evolution through which the business maintains its legitimacy, power, and social and economic fitness. For successful information systems institutionalisation, organizations need to consider technical, organizational, social, environmental, cultural, political, and other institutional aspects. It is important to emphasize these factors because they not only shape technology, but also help in its assimilation and routinization within the organizational context. This paper establishes that an organization as an institution consists of various sub-institutions, where the mutual complementary interaction of these sub-institutions gives legitimacy and social and economic power to the organization. It presents a framework for information systems institutionalisation which explores the character, shaping, and use of technology through continuous interfacing with technical, contextual, social, cultural, environmental, and other sub-institutions. This research particularly highlights the critical success factors for institutionalisation of information systems at each stage from their assimilation to deinstitutionalisation and reinstitutionalisation
