Sardinian Agriculture in the 7th Census of Agriculture: Characteristics, Structures and Dynamics of Generational Renewal
The data from the VII general agricultural census provide a clear snapshot of the structural characteristics of companies on the eve of the new CAP. The data highlights once again the need to guarantee and support generational renewal. The aging of the agricultural sector is a common trait throughout Italy but some regions such as Sardinia demonstrate a timid reversal of trend. Istat data were used to investigate the existence of traits characterizing young farmers in Sardinia in order to identify possible determinants capable of facilitating their settlement. The analysis provides us with distinctive aspects of young Sardinian entrepreneurs compared to those over 40. However, Istat data do not allow us to identify any strategic determinants, indeed they highlight some important weaknesses compared to the national average values. To fully understand the existence of factors favorable to the establishment of young people in agriculture, further information about structural aspects of farms and qualitative analysis are obviously necessary
Short and long-run impact of climate changes on worldwide grain prices
Conventional models have not provided a complete picture of recent price spikes in agricultural commodity
markets, while there is an urgent need for appropriate policy responses. New approaches are needed that shed light on
international spillovers and the feedback between the real and the financial sectors. Models should also assess the impact of
climate changes and consider the link between food and energy prices. In this paper, we present results from a worldwide
dynamic model that provides short and long-run impulse responses of specific grains commodity prices to various real and
financial shocks. The results show that climate change may strongly influence worldwide wheat prices
The Impact of Socio-Economic Factors on the Development of Rural Tourism: Italian Case Based on a Regional Analysis
Italy’s rural areas provide significant tourism opportunities which support local economies and sustainable development. This study examines the impact of socio-economic, technological, natural–ecological, and political–legal factors on rural tourism across Italy’s 21 regions. Using statistical data and correlation analysis, five macro factors were evaluated to determine their influence on the prevalence of agritourism as a measure of rural tourism development. The methodology involved a correlation analysis, including the assessment of bivariate relationships between variables, supported by robust statistical tests to ensure reliability. Key findings indicate that technological advancements, particularly in farm digitalization and innovation, are closely associated with rural tourism growth, alongside factors like regional GDP and natural–ecological resources. The study reveals that higher levels of farmer education and rich ecological and cultural assets within regions also positively impact rural tourism. These insights provide valuable guidance for policymakers and stakeholders in formulating strategies that promote rural tourism and regional development, emphasizing digitalization, ecological preservation, and education. This research extends our understanding of the factors driving rural tourism in Italy, offering a basis for targeted interventions that enhance economic resilience and support sustainable tourism in rural areas

(DM
Automatic data collection for detecting travel behaviour: the IPET platform
The purpose of this paper is to analyze a mobile system developed both for collecting daily trips and activities information and for promoting sustainable means of transport. Use of a technological device is a first step towards implementing tools that allow more accurate activity and travel data to be collected compared to traditional methods and communication with individuals for persuading them to choose environmentally friendly modes of transport. Nowadays such systems are essential in transport research for designing Voluntary Travel Behavior Change programs [1]. This work presents the outcome of two pilot tests conducted using the IPET platform (Individual Persuasive Eco-Travel Technology [2]), developed for managing a Personalized campaign to promote sustainable means of transport. The two tests, each conducted on a small appropriate sample, had different goals. The first was to test the App and modify/improve it on the basis of users’ suggestions, before large-scale implementation; the second to assess the efficacy of the platform in terms of data collection and travel behavior change. Test results showed that the platform is easy to use and could be effective, once implemented further, for collecting and analyzing large amounts of data on mobility
