Sender – Recipient – Dialogue. The Conversational Nature of Polemical Texts
No full textThis paper discusses communicative strategies as employed by three 17th-century authors in the following texts: Lithos by Piotr Mohyla, Rozmowa białocerkiewna [A dialogue in Biała Cerkiew] and Messiasz prawdziwy [The Messiah] both by Joannicius Galatowski. The analysis of the relationships obtaining between the interlocutors, ways of evaluating their adversaries and their lines of argument makes the author of the paper postulate a relationship between the degree of emotionality of the text and the communicative distance between the interlocutors. The larger the distance, the larger the number of explicit negative judgments and more openly expressed emotionality. The author of the message is inscribed in the text, even though he is not an initiator of the debate. Negotiating emotional order: a grounded theory of the survivorship process in women who have completed treatment for breast cancer
No full textRationale for the study: Decades of research focusing on treatment and detection of breast cancer has promoted better outcomes in treating the disease and longer survival rates. Despite this there is a significant gap in the literatures regarding the survivorship process. Breast cancer survivorship needs to be fully understood by nurses and health care providers (HCP) in order to obtain optimal health outcomes for this ever growing population. Method: Classic grounded theory was used in this study to explore the process of transitional survivorship from the prospective of women who had completed initial treatment for breast cancer. Approval by the Institutional Board of Research at Rutgers University and Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare was obtained prior to the commencement of the research. Twelve women were interviewed. All of the women who were interviewed had completed initial treatment for breast cancer, two of the women had recurrence since the initial completion of treatment for breast cancer and one participant had metastatic breast cancer. Interviews were transcribed verbatim and analysis by constant comparison as described by Glaser was employed. Results: In this study, the basic social process describing how women with breast cancer perceive their illness and take action was negotiating emotional order. Participants were attempting to bring the psychological aspect of having breast cancer into a state of order by negotiating control with cancer, themselves and external factors. From the data a five stages latent process of negotiating emotional order consists of: 1) Losing Life Order, 2) Assisted Life Order, 3) Assuming Life Order 4) Accepting the Things Cannot Control, and 5) Creating Emotional Order. This latent process also had a cyclical property as evidenced by the data collected from participants that had experienced cancer more than once or had a time period where they were being tested for cancer recurrence. Conclusion: This research method provided this population of concern with a voice to assist nurses explore the dynamic challenge women experience once they have completed breast cancer treatment and enter extended survivorship. This study contributed to the literature in several ways and the findings may help healthcare providers who care for breast cancer survivors understand the depth and perpetual emotional impact that breast cancer survivors endure. This study will potentially serve as path for future research and aid in the understanding of the psychological impact that breast cancer has upon survivors.Ph. This qualitative study explored patient perspectives of quality of life and occupations of people with medullary sponge kidney (MSK). Analysis of open-ended surveys from Facebook support group members revealed that people with MSK, a chronic condition, define QOL as participation in valued occupations.

Oldřich Matal, CSc. Number of pages: 70 Year: 2009 The assignment of this diploma thesis is to estimate the lifetime of spent fuel container made from carbon steel grade. This container is designed for deep geological disposal of spent nuclear fuel. Basic mechanism of corrosion are described in detail in the first part. Further on, this work deals with the other specific phenomena and influences, which affect at corrosion of steel in conditions of a deep geological repository. Heat, radiation and surroundings are considered of particular importance. In the following part an estimate of the lifetime of model container is introduced, which is affected by temperature and radiation. Here recommendations for protection of container are introduced, arising from the model calculation. Finally, the relevancy of incidence of particular parameters is evaluated, which affect the corrosion

Staranne i dokładne modelowanie ma zasadnicze znaczenie w postępowaniu umożliwiającym uzyskanie poprawnej i efektywnej architektury systemu. Artykuł odnosi się do formalnej analizy diagramów przypadków użycia. Został zaproponowany model formalny przypadku użycia, a także opisano odpowiednie konstrukcje dla relacji występujących pomiędzy przypadkami użycia. Zostały przedstawione dwie formalne metody ich analizy i weryfikacji. Pierwsza oparta jest na eksploracji stanów i reprezentuje podejście nazwane weryfikacją modelową. Druga odwołuje się do wnioskowania symbolicznego z wykorzystaniem logiki temporalnej. Został pokazany prosty i reprezentatywny przykład weryfikacji pewnego scenariusza przypadku użycia. ABSTRACT: Use case diagrams play an important role in modeling with UML. Careful modeling is crucial in obtaining a correct and efficient system architecture. The paper refers to the formal analysis of the use case diagrams. A formal model of use cases is proposed and its construction for typical relationships between use cases is described. Two methods of formal analysis and verification are presented. The first one based on a states' exploration represents a model checking approach. The second one refers to the symbolic reasoning using formal methods of temporal logic. Simple but representative example of the use case scenario verification is discussed. ABSTRACT: Article presents resource allocation problem for resource-constrained project scheduling problem with weighted instability costs of tasks. Rules of allocations which may have an influence on increase robustness of schedule were denoted. Measures of robustness of resource allocations which take into consideration the effect of the duration lengthening for individual activities on the stability of the schedule completed were proposed.
