Ischaemum flumineum Bor (1949: 572) [Fig. 1].
Lectotype (hic designatus):— INDIA. Bombay [erstwhile Bombay Presidency], Jog [Gersoppa], 28 April 1937, N. L. Bor 11390 (K barcode K000245740 [digital image!]); syntype: Madras, Coimbatore, Top slip, November 1937, N. L. Bor 77265 (DD [digital image!]).

Note: Bor (1949) described Ischaemum flumineum based on the collections he cited as follows: “ INDIA. Bombay: Jog, 28 April 1939, N. L. Bor 11390 (Typus in Herb. Kew. et in Herb. Dehra Dun.); Madras: Coimbatore, Top Slip, Nov. 1937, N. L. Bor s.n.” Apparently, he did not intend to designate a holotype, as he indicated the type to be in two different herbaria, i.e., K and DD. We also checked the CAL and MH herbaria for the presence of the type specimens, but they did not have the type specimens. However, when we consulted the concerned authority at the DD herbarium, they denied the presence of any specimen belonging to “ N. L. Bor 11390”. Instead, the specimen they had was labeled as “ N. L. Bor 77265” from Top Slip, Coimbatore, collected in November 1937. In the protologue, Bor’s cited specimen from Coimbatore lacked a collection number, which seems to be an error during typing, because based on the original information, no specimen was found at CAL, DD, K, and MH herbaria. This error of erroneous type citation may be corrected under the Art. 9.2 (Turland et al. 2018). Thus, the material from DD labeled as “ N. L. Bor 77265” is an original type specimen.

In the absence of any holotype designation by the original author, all the cited specimens that are from two different gatherings are considered syntypes, according to Art. 9.6 (Turland et al. 2018). From these specimens, a lectotype may be designated by following the Art. 9.3 (Turland et al. 2018). Here, we have selected a specimen “ N. L. Bor 11390” at K as a lectotype for the name Ischaemum flumineum, but its duplicate at DD could not be traced or is perhaps lost, if it is traced in future should to be called an isolectotype. The other cited material, “ N. L. Bor 77265”, from a different gathering which is housed at the DD herbarium, is a syntype.

Distrbution:— Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, South India (Fig. 3). Hitherto, endemic to Peninsular India.
Published as part of Landge, Shahid Nawaz & Shinde, Rajendra D., 2023, On the identity and distribution of Ischaemum flumineum (Poaceae: Andropogoneae) in India, pp. 182-188 in Phytotaxa 619 (2) on pages 183-184, DOI: 10.11646/phytotaxa.619.2.6, http://zenodo.org/record/8425930</a&gt

Differential Evolution Algorithm Based Photonic Structure Design: Numerical and Experimental Verification of Subwavelength ? /5 Focusing of Light

    No full text
Photonic structure designs based on optimization algorithms provide superior properties compared to those using intuition-basedapproaches. In the present study, we numerically and experimentally demonstrate subwavelength focusing of light using wavelength scale absorption-free dielectric scattering objects embedded in an air background. An optimization algorithm based on differential evolution integrated into the finite-difference time-domain method was applied to determine the locations of each circular dielectric object with a constant radius and refractive index. The multiobjective cost function defined inside the algorithm ensures strong focusing of light with low intensity side lobes. The temporal and spectral responses of the designed compact photonic structureprovided a beam spot size in air with a full width at half maximum value of 0.19?, where ? is the wavelength of light. The experiments were carried out in the microwave region to verify numerical findings, and very good agreement between the two approaches was found. The subwavelength light focusing is associated with a strong interference effect due to nonuniformly arranged scatterers and an irregular index gradient. Improving the focusing capability of optical elements by surpassing the diffraction limit of light is of paramount importance in optical imaging, lithography, data storage, and strong light-matter interaction. © The Author(s) 2016

Placemaking Through Guerilla Gardens at the Toki Mass Housing Grounds in Bor (Niğde)

    No full text
This paper investigates the guerilla gardens at the TOKI compound in Bor, Niğde, that add a vernacular touch to modern mass housing. TOKI, short for Turkish Republic Mass Housing Administration, was established to eradicate gecekondu, informal settlements that emerged in metropolitan cities in the 1950s due to rural-to-urban migration. Tasked with providing affordable housing for low-income families, TOKI implements standardized designs across Turkey's cities and towns, including the Bor (Niğde) complex. As opposed to the rigidity and uniformity of TOKI blocks, the architecture of guerilla gardens displays the spontaneity and ingenuity that characterized the original gecekondu. The research seeks answers to the questions of why guerilla gardens emerge at the Toki grounds, especially because TOKI was initially designed to eradicate vernacular gecekondu and what needs of the inhabitants these gardens accommodate. To answer these questions, ethnographic inquiry is conducted with the users of the guerilla gardens. Through the lens of the Bor TOKI residents' initiative, this paper offers insights into how vernacular input can inform future mass housing projects, possibly leading to more inclusive models that prioritize environmental sustainability while also respecting local lifestyles. © The Author(s) 2025.Bor Toki Compound

Application of standard ISO 14001 in the environmental protection system

    No full text
Implementation of ISO 14001 standards - The environmental management system, following the ISO 9001 standard, is becoming increasingly common in our organizations. This is particularly true for construction companies that are significant waste generators and environmental pollutants. On this, they are bound by increasingly stringent legislation, on the one hand, and a more favorable position in public vacancies if they have introduced a standard, on the other. Bearing in mind the experience of the author in the implementation of the ISO 14001 standard, the paper will present the basic procedures for the efficient functioning of the environmental management system.27th International Conference Ecological Truth and Environmental Research 2019 : June 18-21, Bor

Discontinuing Oxytocin Infusion in the Active Phase of Labor: A Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

    No full text
OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the benefits and harms of discontinuation of oxytocin after the active phase of labor is reached. DATA SOURCES: Electronic databases (ie, MEDLINE, Scopus, ClinicalTrials.gov, EMBASE, ScienceDirect, the Cochrane Library at the CENTRAL Register of Controlled Trials, Scielo) were searched from their inception until April 2017. METHODS OF STUDY SELECTION: We included all randomized controlled trials comparing discontinuation (ie, intervention group) and continuation (ie, control group) of oxytocin infusion after the active phase of labor is reached, either after induction or augmentation of labor. Discontinuation of oxytocin infusion was defined as discontinuing oxytocin infusion when the active phase of labor was achieved. Continuation of oxytocin infusion was defined as continuing oxytocin infusion until delivery. Only trials in singleton gestations with vertex presentation at term were included. The primary outcome was the incidence of cesarean delivery. TABULATION, INTEGRATION, AND RESULTS: Nine randomized controlled trials, including 1,538 singleton gestations, were identified as relevant and included in the meta-analysis. All nine trials included only women undergoing induction of labor. In the discontinuation group, if arrest of labor occurred, usually defined as no cervical dilation in 2 hours or inadequate uterine contractions for 2 hours or more, oxytocin infusion was restarted. Women in the control group had oxytocin continued until delivery usually at the same dose used at the time the active phase was reached. Women who were randomized to have discontinuation of oxytocin infusion after the active phase of labor was reached had a significantly lower risk of cesarean delivery (9.3% compared with 14.7%; relative risk 0.64, 95% CI 0.48-0.87) and of uterine tachysystole (6.2% compared with 13.1%; relative risk 0.53, 95% CI 0.33-0.84) compared with those who were randomized to have continuation of oxytocin infusion until delivery. Discontinuation of oxytocin infusion was associated with an increase in the duration of the active phase of labor (mean difference 27.65 minutes, 95% CI 3.94-51.36). CONCLUSION: In singleton gestations with cephalic presentation at term undergoing induction, discontinuation of oxytocin infusion after the active phase of labor at approximately 5 cm is reached reduces the risk of cesarean delivery and of uterine tachysystole compared with continuous oxytocin infusion. Given this evidence, discontinuation of oxytocin infusion once the active stage of labor is established in women being induced should be considered as an alternative management plan

Problems of ecology and ensuring environmental safety in relation to toxic “Krasny Bor” dump site

    No full text
In the article the author raises the problem of ecology and ensuring environmental safety in relation to toxic “Krasny Bor” landfill. Comprehensive analysis of the existing system shortcomings to storage toxic industrial waste has been given. The principal threats of a dangerous object to the environment being in a critical state have been discussed. Reliable and high-quality environmental monitoring in the landfill is still absent. At all stages of the life cycle of the “Krasny Bor”, bureaucratic confusion impedes the development of environmentally oriented investment activities for the reclamation of toxic pits. The main elements of the project structure to remediate the “Krasny Bor” have been considered. It has been shown that the project must include all acceptable technological solutions related to landfill disposal and that it is necessary to focus on environmental protection and environmental safety of the area. In the framework of current situation at the disposal site, it does not seem impossible to solve the issues of ensuring environmental safety in the direction of moving towards sustainable and balanced development of the North-Westregion
