Тарасенко К. В. EN: It is the first attempt in modern Ukrainian translation studies to identify the features of translation strategies of famous translator Georgy Pilipenko, who is the author of bilingual translation of the sonnets by W. Shakespeare into Ukrainian and Russian languages. The analysis is made within the paradigm of translation within comparative studies, that is widely used by such outstanding and prominent scholars as R. Zorivchak, M. Novikova, L. Kolomiets, V. Radchuk, A. Vasylyk. Having taken into account that terms «literary translation», «bilingual translation», «strategy in translation» are in the focus of translation studies and also the nature and coexistence of such terms as “literary translation” and “translation within comparative studies” is under discussion, it is shown that the bilingual translation can be considered a strategy of translation. Using the methodology of translation within comparative studies, a comparative analysis of the sonnets (110, 66, 91) in the original and their interpretations in Ukrainian and Russian, is undertaken. A wide translation context is also taken into account: the sonnets of Shakespeare in the interpretation of Ukrainian translators (such as I. Kostetzky, D. Palamarchuk, D. Pavlychko, O. Tarnavsky, N. Butuk, V. Marach) are also used. It is shown that the translation strategy of G. Pilipenko to use bilingual translation is very successful and both Ukrainian and Russian translations created by G. Pilipenko are explicitly oriented and complement each other. In the process of translation of the sonnets of G. Pilipenko uses such transformations as descriptive translation, modulation, omission, transposition, addition and tries to keep the structure of the original both in grammatical and lexical terms. The strategy of bilingual translation helps the author of the translation to compensate those «omissions» for the sake of rhyme: when in the Russian translation, the meaning is lost and then it isn’t lost in the Ukrainian one and visa versa. He manages to decode the «message» of Renaissance epoch, keeping rhythm and melody of the sonnet and, what is the most important, succeeds to maintain the energy of translation.

Distortion of the ULF wave spatial structure upon transmission through the ionosphere

    No full text
Distortion of the ground-based spatial structure of ULF waves is described in detail using analytical and numerical models of the resonant Alfven wave transmission through the “thin” ionosphere. The numerical calculations have been done for geophysical conditions corresponding to the midlatitude Borok Observatory and the low-latitude L'Aquila Observatory. As compared with a resonant field-aligned oscillation above the ionosphere, the ground spatial structure has the following additional features which have not been described by existing models: the amplitude peak is shifted northward, the width of it is changed, and amplitude and phase are modified. The effect is most evident when the resonant frequency and ionospheric conductivity are high. From a physical point of view the effect is caused by two reasons: (1) excitation of a diffusive-like surface-type mode in the ionosphere and (2) finite Earth's conductivity. The possible influence of the predicted distortion of the ULF field on various ground-based methods for the determination of the magnetospheric resonant frequency is discussed

High occupational risk of damage to the health of medical workers requires the adoption of special measures for social protection. Such measures in the form of a one-time insurance payment were provided for by the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 313, adopted in the midst of a new coronavirus infection COVID-19. During the implementation of the provisions of this Decree, law enforcement officers faced a number of problems caused by both the complexity of regulated relations and imperfection of the text of the regulatory legal act itself. Such problems include the lack of clear legal regulation of ways to establish the connection of a medical worker’s illness with direct contact with a patient suffering from COVID-19, or with suspicion of this disease, the difficulty of establishing a connection between the performance of work duties with the fact of infection, insufficient specification of the circle of subjects entitled to this payment, a complex procedure, etc. Since the Decree is temporary, it is advisable to identify these problems and find ways to eliminate them before relevant federal law is adopted. In this regard, it is necessary to analyze emerging judicial practice, which is the aim of this article. The analysis reveals what exactly the courts accept as evidence of the professional cause of infection of doctors and how they distinguish between the industrial and domestic cause of infection; how is the impossibility of applying the provisions of the Decree to persons not included in the circle of insured persons specified in it justified; what can be considered as such violations of the procedure that entail the cancellation of the decision of the commission of inquiry, etc. On this basis, conclusions are drawn that will help to avoid mistakes when adopting the federal law on insurance of medical workers

Magnetic effects due to earthquakes and underground explosions: a review

    No full text
The physical nature of quasi-static and transient anomalies in the geomagnetic field induced by underground explosions or earthquakes is reviewed. New theoretical results obtained recently and so far little known to general circles of geophysicists are presented. The physical nature of residual magnetic and electrotelluric fields at the explosion point are considered. The seismic waves from explosions or distant earthquakes are suggested to be used as a tool for the preliminary probing of the Earth's crust sensitivity to various seismo-electromagnetic effects. The use of magnetic induction effects for tsunami detection and for crust sounding is outlined. The nature of ULF magnetic impulses related with earthquakes is discussed.JCR Journalope
