Il ruolo del sociologo nelle «Case della Comunità»: l’esperienza dell’Emilia-Romagna

    No full text

Coalescence between adjacent drops relying on the interface of two liquids

    No full text
This paper is aimed to the study and characterization of the coalescence of two adjacent drops lying on, or under (depending on the different densities), the macro-interface of two immiscible liquids. Experiments have been performed and coalescence times measured by using an oil-water system. A mechanistic model of coalescence is proposed. The comparison with experimental data is satisfactory

Modeling and Simulation of the Production of Lead and Elementary Sulphur from Lead Sulphide Concentrates

    No full text
Lead sulphide (Galena) is the most important mineral lead compound. In this paper a new process for lead recovery is modeled, Flubor (R) (Olper and Fracchia, 1991, Olper 1995), based on leaching and electrolysis that is environmental friendly and solve the problems of high capital investment and operating costs. Being modular, it can be strongly attractive, for small and medium capacities, mainly for locations or countries where small-medium size mines are present. The model involves several unit operations necessary for the separation of a broad range of impurities. Multiphase streams are treated, involving liquid, gases and solids. A "sequential modular approach" is used with iterative calculations for solving the problem of recycle loops. The model well reproduces the performances of a flexible, large-scale demonstrative plant. It can be also of support for control and as operator training simulator (OTS)

Ottimizzazione multilivello di corporate chimiche operanti su larga scala

This research activity is related to the development, implementation, and integration of algorithms for the solution of different optimization issues in the field of chemical and oil&gas industry. By means of parallel computing techniques and object-oriented programming, nowadays it is possible to solve in an integrated way and with a single solver numerous online problems such as the data reconciliation, the model predictive control, the dynamic optimization, the fault detection, and the decision-making support. The work describes the novel advances in numerical methods and their validation by the field
