Performare il sociale. Il progetto Orchestra dei Ragazzi Senior come comunità educante

    No full text

A reinvestigation of Macaronesian seaweeds as studied by A. Piccone with remarks on those studied by A. Grunow

    No full text
In his publications about benthic marine algae A. Piccone recorded 185 names of taxa collected from shores of islands in Macaronesia. About his identifications he was often in contact with A. Grunow. Of the specimens studied by Piccone the majority (171 names) was found again in herbaria in Padova, Paris and Vienna. These specimens were studied and all specimens are now discussed in alphabethical order. Many changes are proposed, viz. nomenclatural changes as well as new identifications. Some remarks are added about records published for Madeira by A. Grunow in 1868. New records for Macaronesia are Halymenia latifolia forma trabaeculata, Halymenia cf. vinacea, Laurencia chondrioides, Laurencia microcladia, Laurencia poiteaui, Meristiella echinocarpa and Rhodymenia holmesii.12167SCI

    Variations on the Author

    No full text
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Influence of manganese dioxide and manganic ions on the production of two proteins in Arthrobacter sp.

    No full text
The production by Arthrobacter sp. of a 30-kDa surface protein and a 25-kDa cytoplasmic protein was increased by the presence of MnO2 in the medium. This high production was also observed in the presence of MnO4¡ (Mn VII). N-terminal and partial internal sequences of the 30-kDa surface protein have shown no homology with other known proteins. The role of this protein is still unknown, but its highly induced synthesis is possibly related to the binding or the processing of manganic ion by the cells. The 25-kDa cytoplasmic protein has been identi® ed by its N-terminal matching sequence as a superoxide dismutase isoenzyme (Mn-SOD). SOD activitymeasurements performedon cytoplasmic fractions are related to the protein amounts observed by gel electrophoresis. Arthrobacter sp. synthesized and exhibited SOD activity in both aerobic and anaerobic conditions, thus suggesting other or additional physiological functions for this enzyme.
