This study assessed the awareness and availability of Tertiary Institutions Social Health Insurance Programme (TISHIP) Information Sources by Undergraduate Students for Accessing Healthcare Services in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. the objectives of the study is to identify the types of Healthcare Services covered by TISHIP are accessible to Undergraduate Students in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, identify the types of TISHIP Information Sources are available to Undergraduate Students for accessing Healthcare Services in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria and to find out the extent Undergraduate Students aware of TISHIP Information Sources available for accessing Healthcare in Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria. Three research questions were formulated in line with the research objectives. The study adopted descriptive survey design. 381 students were sampled using cluster proportionate random sampling out of the entire 42,779 for the study. Questionnaire was the instrument used for data collection which were collected, analysed and presented in tables using frequencies, percentages, mean and standard deviation. Findings of the study revealed that the types of healthcare services covered by TISHIP accessible by the Undergraduate Students were Routine Immunisations, Health Education, Essential Drugs, Accident and Emergency Care, Dental Health Services and Periodic Medical Check-ups. Also, the types of TISHIP information sources available to the Undergraduate Students for accessing healthcare were Orientation and Matriculation, Friends, Notice Boards, Lecturers and Staff, Campus Bulletin, Social Media, Internet, and Religious and Association Leaders. Hence, it was recommended that information services aimed at providing information to the student be provided and the university management should provide more TISHIP information sources and healthcare services that will enhance access for the Undergraduate Students thereby saving their time in accessing information sources. The study aimed at understanding institutional and facility-related challenges affecting the application of ICT skills to academic activities by faculty  staff. The three full-time universities in Benue state were purposively selected to form the population of the study; namely, University of Agriculture, Makurdi; Benue State University, Makurdi; and University of Mkar, Mkar. The descriptive survey design was adopted with a total population of 1, 537 faculty staff. Out of this population, 306 faculty staff were drawn as a sample for the study, using the simple random sampling procedure. A validated questionnaire was deployed for data collection; while charts, frequency tables and simple percentages were used for data analysis. The study revealed that institutional and facility-related challenges affecting faculty staff’ ICT skills application to academic activities in the universities in Benue State include: inadequate funding of ICT ventures, lack of sponsorship for ICT training, inadequate ICT facilities, unstable power supply and poor internet connectivity. Based on this, it was recommended that the government should annually provide ICT development fund to universities for bankrolling of ICT projects, and the management of respective universities should ensure more spending on providing ICT facilities, stable  power supply, and sound Internet connectivity as this would greatly enhance academic activities in the universities. This study investigated the determinants and barriers to the utilization of emerging technologies for scholarly communication among Library and Information Science (LIS) professionals in Federal Universities in North-East Nigeria. A descriptive survey design was adopted, and data were collected using a structured questionnaire administered to 270 respondents across three selected federal universities. A total of 263 responses were returned and analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency counts, percentages, mean, and standard deviation. Findings revealed that key barriers to the adoption of emerging technologies include limited financial resources, inadequate digital infrastructure, insufficient training opportunities, and lack of institutional support. Similarly, factors such as availability of technological infrastructure, perceived usefulness, digital literacy, and institutional support were identified as significant determinants of utilization. The study recommends that Federal Universities in North East Nigeria should secure increased financial support and establish partnerships with technology providers and research institutions to enhance access to essential digital tools. Furthermore, university management should invest in technical upgrades and capacity-building initiatives to improve the adequacy and use of emerging technologies for scholarly communication among LIS professionals in the region

A Forty-Year Analysis of the Literature on Babesia Infection (1982–2022): A Systematic Bibliometric Approach

Babesia infection is a tick-borne protozoan disease associated with significant veterinary, economic, and medical importance. This infection affects many hosts, ranging from wild to domestic animals and including man. All vertebrates serve as potential carriers due to the huge diversity of the species. Babesiosis has been associated with severe economic loss in livestock production, especially in cattle farming, and is also a major public health concern in man, which could be fatal. The infection is usually opportunistic, ranging from asymptomatic to symptomatic, usually in immunocompromised subjects or under conditions of stressful management. This study was designed to uncover trends in relation to publication growth and further explore research output regarding babesiosis from data indexed in the WoS. The WoS is the only platform used to map publications on Babesia infection. The search term “babesiosis” or “Babesia infection” was used to extract articles published across the study period from 1982 to 2022. The inclusion criteria were restricted to only articles for the analysis. The results from the search query showed that a total of 3763 articles were published during the study period with an average of 91.70 ± 43.87 articles annually and an average total citation (n = 1874.8). An annual growth rate of 2.5% was recorded during the study period. The year 2021 had the highest number of published articles (n = 193, 5.1%) and citations (n = 7039). The analysis of the most relevant keywords and titles showed that infection (n = 606, 16.1%), babesiosis (n = 444, 11.7%), and Babesia (n = 1302, 16%) were the most relevant keyword plus (ID), author keyword (DE), and title, respectively. The common conceptual framework analysis through K-means clustering showed two clusters comprising 4 and 41 elements, respectively. The United States of America is the top-performing country in terms of article production (n = 707, 20.8%) and the leading funder for babesiosis research, with two of its agencies ranked at the top. These are the Department of Health and Human Services (n = 254, 6.7%) and the National Institute of Health (n= 238,6.3%). Igarashi I. is the top-performing author (n = 231, 6.1%), while Veterinary Parasitology is ranked the top journal (n = 393, 10.4%) in terms of babesiosis publications. Overall, an increase in publications was observed in the study period, with significant output from developed nations

The Value of Cooperation: Studies on the Performance Outcomes of Interorganizational Alliances.

Strategic alliances have gradually emerged over the last decades as a primary vehicle for corporate growth. Firms increasingly use strategic alliances to enter new markets, develop new products and obtain access to relevant knowledge and technological capabilities. Hoewever, while alliances can promote growth and create value they can also destroy it. The prevalence of alliances coupled with the considerable variation in their success rates has led to an increased effort by both scholars and practitioners to find out whether firms benefit from emerging alliances and what makes for a succesful alliance. Yet, despite the large number of studies conducted to date, past empirical research provides no consensus on (a) whether on average, firms benefit from entering alliances, (b) why some alliances create more firm value than others, and (c) the determinants of the performance of alliances themselves. Research presented in this dissertation uses meta-analysis to address these questions and obtain firm empirical generalizations on the performance outcomes of strategic alliances.
