VEA - Personalizing the journey towards enhanced asthma self-management
Asthma is one of the most common chronic diseases worldwide, and it is expected that the prevalence of asthma will only increase in the coming years (Masoli et al., 2004). Medical self-management by asthma patients will be of essential importance to keep the burden of disease as low as possible. Medical self-management is critical in obtaining asthma control. Research suggests that the majority of patients can obtain asthma control, yet most adults are still living with uncontrolled asthma. Both extensive literature research and qualitative research with asthma patients and healthcare providers were executed to uncover what the barriers are that asthma patients face in medical asthma self-management. The research uncovered three main problems that form barriers to efficient self-management.: beliefs, low motivation, and inability. Each of these problems has its underlying causes. Beliefs are caused by (1) paternalistic care, (2) lack of stimulation, (3) shortcomings in knowledge sources. Low motivation is the result of (1) paternalistic care, (2) lack of awareness, (3) discouragement due to inadequate tools. At last, inability is caused by (1) lack of knowledge, (2) lack of skills (3) lack of insight.Several opportunity areas to enhance the self-management of asthma patients were discovered: (a) patient education, (b) self-tailoring, and (c) increasing competence.Patient education can be enhanced by creating awareness and providing a better knowledge source through (1) personalization, (2) spreading knowledge. Enabling the patient to self-tailor can induce more active participation of the patient. Increasing the asthma patient’s competence can be done by (1) increasing self-knowledge (2) enabling action. To overcome the barriers to self-management a design was proposed: vea. Vea consists of an app and a physical product. The app enables the user to set goals and supports the user to achieve these goals. Through working on the goals, the app learns about the user and gets personalized. The physical device supports the app by measuring the air quality in the home of the user and gives feedback on this.Key user benefits of the design are:Personalization Vea is designed to match the patients’ needs. Through personalizing its approach and content, the app becomes relevant to the user.Being in controlThe user is in charge of the goals they want to achieve. The app assists them by making the once invisible complaints and effects of self-management explicit.Increased capabilityVea provides structured tools that increase the capability of the user to self-manage their asthma. Through seamlessly collecting data and providing relevant feedback and tips, the user is motivated and capable of acting.User evaluation demonstrated that the proposed design is undoubtedly promising. Both asthma patients and general practitioners indicated that the design could lead to increased insight, motivation, and enhanced competence of medical self-management.The main limitation of this master thesis is, however, determining the long-term effect of the design. Although the design has shown to be promising, unfortunately, no statement can be made of the long-term effect of vea on the actual improvement of medical self-management. To be able to do so, the design should be further developed and tested in the long term. Integrated Product Desig
Identifying employee job satisfaction in the example of LDT Vea
teooriale.
Herzbergi teooria alusel koostatud anonüümsest ankeetküsitlusest selgus, et kõige rohkem
oldi rahul suhetega kaastöötajatega, mille keskmine oli kõikide teistes küsimusteblokist
kõrgeim (4,31). Järgneb rahulolu ettevõtte maine ja töötajate töötamise perspektiiviga, mille
keskmine on 3,92. Kolmandaks on rahulolu juhtimisega, mille keskmine on 3,73.
The purpose of this bachelor thesis was to indentify LTD Vea staff job satisfaction and based
on research results, suggest improvements for higher employee job satisfaction.
Job satisfaction in LDT Vea is over average, mostly with every job satisfaction related
subject. There are some aspects, which have lower satisfaction rate than others. The job
satisfaction among employees was found out by using job employee satisfaction survey,
which based on job satisfaction theory.
The most satisfactioned part of anonymous job satisfaction survey which based on
Herzberg’s theory, is connections between coworkers with average 3,41. Second most
satisfactioned aspect is organization reputation and workers working perspective. Third most
satisfactioned aspect is leadership in organization with average 3,73. Working conditions
made to the fourth place with average 3,56. The least satisfactioned aspect in LTD Vea is
satisfaction with job nature with average 3,50. Job satisfaction in LTD Vea is pretty high but
there are some aspects which showed up less satisfaction and should be paid attention.
To decrease job satisfaction, author made some suggestion to improve job satisfaction in
LDT Vea:
1. raise the salary or decrease work load.
2. for example, arrange health/safety – related training or encourage sport activities and
partly pay for massages or spa visits.
3. show up more approval workers commitment for organisation.
4. be friendlier and approachable to others
5. make sure that organization based information is reachable to all employees equally.
6. find out and make changes to reason why some of the employees doesnt see themselves

Detailed experimental study of the absorption and emission profiles in the region of satellite bands should reveal the possibility of existence of bound states in the so called intermediate long-range region. These bound states lie above the corresponding asymptotic level at internuclear distances of about 2-3 nm(4). They can be used to reach much higher bound intermediate long-range states of K2, Rb2 and Cs2 molecules at moderate or ultra-cold temperatures

The ANTI-Vea task: analyzing the executive and arousal vigilance decrements while measuring the three attentional networks
This work was supported by the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness, research project to JL [grant number PSI2017-84926-P]; and by the Secretaría de Ciencia y Tecnología from the Universidad Nacional de Córdoba, Argentina (Proyecto Estimular to FGL); FGL received PhD scholarship support from the Consejo Nacional de Investigaciones Científicas y Técnicas (CONICET), Argentina; FGL received a scholarship mobility by the Asociación Universitaria Iberoamericana de Posgrado (AUIP) in cooperation with the Consejería de Economía y Conocimiento de la Junta de Andalucía, España; EMA was supported by a Juan de la Cierva postdoctoral fellowship from the Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness [IJCI-2015-23204]. Preliminary results of this work has been presented in the Spanish XI Scientific Meeting of Attention (RECA), developed from 28th to 30th of September 2017 in Baeza, Spain. This paper is part of the doctoral thesis by the first author, under the supervision of the last two authors. The vigilance decrement phenomenon has been traditionally studied by simple and monotonous behavioral tasks. Nowadays, however, there is considerable interest in measuring vigilance with more complex tasks, including independent measures of other attentional functions. In the present study, we provide evidence supporting the suitability of the Attentional Networks Test for Interactions and Vigilance – executive and arousal components (ANTI-Vea) as an appropriate method to simultaneously assess multiple attentional and vigilance components. Vigilance was examined as two dissociated components: executive vigilance –as the detection of infrequent signals– and arousal vigilance –as the sustenance of a fast reaction to stimuli without response selection–. Importantly, the executive vigilance decrement was analyzed with a novel methodological approach to particularly determine whether the sensitivity loss effect is influenced by a floor level on the false alarms. As expected, the ANTI-Vea proved to be a task suitable to assess: (a) the main effects and interactions of phasic alertness, orienting, and executive control; (b) the executive vigilance decrement as a progressive change in the response bias; and (c) the arousal vigilance decrement as a progressive slowness and variability in reaction time. We discuss some critical theoretical and empirical implications of measuring vigilance components with the ANTI-Vea task. We expect the present study to provide a suitable method to analyze the vigilance decrement phenomenon when measuring multiple attentional and vigilance functions. Spanish Ministry of Economy, Industry, and Competitiveness

Some results concerning the fundamental nature of Wynn's vector epsilon algorithm
In this thesis, Wynn's Vector Epsilon Algorithm (VEA) is examined. Although the usefulness of this sequence-to-sequence transformation for inducing and enhancing convergence in vector sequences has been amply demonstrated by others, it is still not well understood. After reviewing some known important theoretical results for the VEA and its kernel (the full set of vector sequences which the VEA transforms to give a constant vector sequence), the author provides a sufficient and necessary condition for membership of a vector sequence in the real part of the kernel of the 1st order VEA. This kernel is shown to be the set of all real vector sequences {xn} converging toward, orbiting, or diverging away from some vector x where each term of the error sequence {xn-x} is a scaled and/or rotated version of the previous term of the error sequence, called λR sequences. This result is contrasted with one by McLeod and Graves-Morris. It is then shown that λR sequences may also be described as those sequences {xn} whose terms satisfy xn = x + znw + zn w where z ≠ 0, z ≠ 1, ||w|| > 0, and < w, w >= 0.
Numerical experiments by the author on vector sequences generated by the formula xn=Axn-1+b are reported. Circumstances are found under which the VEA order of such sequences is lower than the upper bound given by Brezinski. The reduction is triggered by the presence of certain orthogonal relationships between eigenvector and generalised eigenvector components whose corresponding Jordan blocks in the Jordan canonical form of A have complex conjugate eigenvalues. This empirical result anticipates the complex kernel of the 1st order VEA which is shown to be every sequence {xn} whose terms satisfy xn = x + znw₁ + znw₂ with z ≠ 0, z ≠ 1, ||w₁|| + ||w₂|| > 0, and < w₁,w₂ > = 0 and no others. Some remaining open questions are noted in the final chapter
Analysing affixal entries in Old English lexicographical sources: problems and solutions
This paper seeks to examine how affixal entries are organized in the main Old Englishdictionaries, inlcuding An Anglo-Saxon Dictionary by Bosworth and Toller (1973), A ConciseAnglo-Saxon Dictionary by Clark-Hall (1996), The Student’s Dictionary of Anglo-Saxon by Sweet(1976) and the Dictionary of Old English (Cameron et al., eds. 2018) to identify possibleweaknesses and unsystematic patterns in these entries and to offer a proposal of improvedaffixal entries that represents a solution to inconsistency and meaning coverage limitations.Considerable differences have been found in the sources consulted regarding the numberand type of word formation elements attested or the degree of accuracy in the informationprovided by each entry. In addition, one and the same source may address affixal meaningdiversely. In light of this situation, this paper suggests a solution to the aforementionedshortcomings by resorting to a framework of lexical functions (Author 2013, 2016, 2018)that capture the form and meaning relations found in the lexicon of a language in a consistentway. The lexical database of Old English Nerthus (Martín Arista, ed., et al. 2016) hascontributed the main morphological information and has enabled data relations and theconstruction and description of meaning. The example below illustrates a suggested entryfor the suffix frēa-:frēa-. As a nominal affix, it attaches to nouns to designate a higher position both inan organizational or in an intensity hierarchy: frēa-bregd ‘mighty device’, -drihten, -meaht, -miht, -reccere, -wine, -wrāsn. As an adjectival prefix, it derives adjectives with agreater intensity: frēa-beorht ‘glorious’, -fætt, -glēaw, -hræd, -mǣre, -micel, -torht, -wlitig.The model presented has thus permitted both a closer approximation to the affixalassortment of meanings and also a greater descriptive systematization

303. NUTRIENT INTAKE OF BOS INDICUS HEIFERS DURING EARLY AND MID-GESTATION CAUSES CHANGES TO PLASMA CONCENTRATIONS OF TRIIODOTHYRONINE (T3) AND THYROXINE (T4) OF THEIR PROGENY
Fetal and postnatal growth are mediated by thyroid hormones (TH). Maternal nutrient intake during gestation can program postnatal TH concentrations. This may have significant economic implications for beef cattle production. We investigated the effect of feeding beef heifers high (H = 240%) and low (L = 70%) levels of recommended daily crude protein intake during the first and second trimesters of gestation in a two-by-two factorial design on progeny (n = 68) plasma concentrations of free and total triiodothyronine (FT3 and TT3) and free and total thyroxine (FT4 and TT4) from birth until weaning at 6 mo of age. Exposure to low compared to high protein diets during the second trimester resulted in increased plasma FT3 concentrations relative to TT3 (P = 0.04) at birth. For male progeny, exposure to low compared to high protein diets during the first trimester resulted in greater plasma FT4 concentrations from birth until weaning (P = 0.02). Also for males from birth until weaning, LH had greater plasma TT3 concentrations than HH (P < 0.01). For female progeny, HH had greater plasma TT3 concentrations relative to TT4 than HL from birth until weaning (P = 0.03). Plasma concentrations of FT3 were positively associated with average daily gain relative to birth weight at 1 (r = 0.41; P < 0.01) and 3 mo FT3 (r = 0.41; P < 0.01). Heifer protein intake during the first and second trimesters of gestation has a permanent effect to progeny plasma TH concentrations and these changes are associated with the postnatal growth pathway.
