Organizational changes in the adoption of agile approaches by organizations traditional
No full textAs abordagens ágeis de gerenciamento de projetos têm se configurado como uma solução bastante atraente para organizações tradicionais que desejam tornar-se mais ágeis e inovadoras. No entanto, a adoção dessas abordagens implica na implementação de diversas mudanças na organização. O objetivo geral dessa tese é analisar quais as mudanças que organizações tradicionais precisaram implementar em função da adoção de abordagens ágeis. Para isso, foram elaborados três artigos: (1) uma revisão sistemática da literatura sobre as principais mudanças organizacionais implementadas em função da adoção de abordagens ágeis; (2) um estudo de caso qualitativo em organizações tradicionais de grande porte que implementaram abordagens ágeis, com o objetivo de analisar as principais mudanças organizacionais implementadas em função dessa implementação, e; (3) um estudo de caso qualitativo em organizações que adaptaram seus processos de gerenciamento de projetos, utilizando práticas oriundas tanto de abordagens ágeis como de abordagens tradicionais, com o objetivo de analisar as características da abordagem implementada e sua relação com processo de adoção e traços da sua cultura organizacional. O primeiro artigo consolidou as mudanças realizadas por organizações que implementaram o ágil reportadas na literatura e identificou oportunidades para estudos futuros. O segundo artigo, endereçou uma dessas oportunidades, mapeando todas as mudanças implementadas por quatro organizações tradicionais de grande porte que adotaram abordagens ágeis e consolidando-as em um modelo que explícita todas as complexidades envolvidas nesse processo. O terceiro artigo também endereçou uma das oportunidades identificadas pela revisão da literatura, analisando o mix de práticas adotado por quatro organizações tradicionais, comparando-as entre si, e analisando sua relação com as características e objetivos da organização. Os resultados dessa tese contribuem para a teoria sobre adoção de abordagens ágeis, por organizar as mudanças necessárias nesse processo de transformação em quatro grandes temas, identificar oportunidades para estudos futuros, fornecer um panorama abrangente de toda a complexidade envolvida nesse processo, bem como as customizações necessárias para que os resultados desejados sejam atendidos sem prejudicar as necessidades de conformidade e governança dessas organizações. Esse estudo também contribui com a prática de gerenciamento de projetos, auxiliando organizações que desejam empreender essa jornada de transformação a entender complexidade envolvida nesse processo e planejar adequadamente seus esforços.Agile project management approaches have emerged as an attractive solution for traditional organizations seeking to become more agile and innovative. However, adopting these approaches entails implementing several changes within the organization. The general objective of this thesis is to analyze the changes that traditional organizations needed to implement as a result of adopting agile approaches. To this end, three articles were developed: (1) a systematic literature review on the main organizational changes implemented due to the adoption of agile approaches; (2) a qualitative case study of large traditional organizations that have implemented agile approaches, aimed at analyzing the main organizational changes implemented as a result of this implementation; and (3) a qualitative case study of organizations that adapted their project management processes using practices from both agile and traditional approaches, with the aim of analyzing the characteristics of the implemented approach and its relationship with the adoption process and traits of their organizational culture. The first article consolidated the changes made by organizations that implemented Agile as reported in the literature and identified opportunities for future studies. The second article addressed one of these opportunities by mapping all the changes implemented by four large traditional organizations that adopted agile approaches, consolidating them into a model that elucidates the complexity involved in this process. The third article also addressed one of the opportunities identified by the literature review by analyzing the mix of practices adopted by four traditional organizations, comparing them with each other, and examining their relationship with the characteristics and objectives of the organization. The results of this thesis contribute to the theory on the adoption of agile approaches by organizing the necessary changes in this transformation process into four major themes, identifying opportunities for future research, providing a comprehensive overview of the complexity involved in this process, and detailing the customizations needed to achieve the desired outcomes without compromising the compliance and governance requirements of these organizations. This study also contributes to the practice of project management by helping organizations that wish to embark on this transformation journey understand the complexity involved and adequately plan their efforts
Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
Get PDFThe present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
Get PDF“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
Get PDFWe provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Note that the objective for the hut study was to evaluate the IRS treatment applications for residual efficacy against Anopheles mosquitoes, including the local An. coluzzii mosquito population. Cows were only used to attract mosquitoes into the huts and no tests were carried out directly on the cows. The author checklist is intended for use with studies where experiments are carried out on animals, which is why we have had such difficulty in completing this for the hut study, as many of the questions do not relate to how the cows were used
