Tagging of Biomedical Articles on CiteULike: A Comparison of User, Author and Professional Indexing
No full textThis paper examines the context of online indexing from the viewpoint of three different groups: users, authors, and professional indexers. User tags, author keywords and descriptors were collected from academic journal articles, which were both indexed in Pubmed and tagged on CiteULike, and analysed. Descriptive statistics, informetric measures, and thesaural term comparison shows that there are important differences in the use of keywords between the three groups in addition to similarities which can be used to enhance support for search and browse. While tags and author keywords were found that matched descriptors exactly, other terms which did not match but provided important expansion to the indexing lexicon were found. These additional terms could be used to enhance support for searching and browsing in article databases as well as to provide invaluable data for entry vocabulary and emergent terminology for regular updates to indexing systems. Additionally, the study suggests that tags support organisation by association to task, projects and subject while making important connections to traditional systems which classify into subject categories

No full textThe article deals with the peculiarities of E.I. Zamyatin's perception of H. Wells' work. Zamyatin considered H. G. Wells as his creative predecessor, who had a great influence on the formation of the fantastic novel as a genre combining acute plot with social analysis of the consequences of scientific and technical development. The author of the novel ‘We’ notes the anti-utopianism of many of H.G. Wells' novels and connects it with the opposition “static utopia - dynamism of anti-utopia”. Zamyatin's attitude to the realistic work of Wells is more restrained. Wells is perceived by Zamyatin as a deeply national writer, aware of his national identity, rooted in the Dickensian tradition and reflecting in his work the peculiarities of the English mentality. The created myth of the English writer becomes at the same time a projection of Zamyatin's own aesthetic programme of the early 1920s, developed in other articles and lectures of the writer of this period

These questions were put in form of a questionnaire survey supplemented by one interview
to find the required information. From the response some analyses were made, some
recommendations were put forward, and conclusions drawn

Identification of a text author by the letter frequency empirical distribution

The distances distributions between empirical triplet distributions are investigated. The accuracy estimation of these distributions is obtained depending on the length of the text. The method of author identification is examined on the broad class of literature texts. The stabilization length of triplet distributions is approximately equal to one half of the text without dependence on author and text length. The example of cluster method is given for E.I. Sustainable use of giant reed to produce industrialized enzymes
No full textThe giant reed (Arundo donax) is a fast-growing plant adapted to different climatic and soil conditions; although its origin is Asian, the species has spread throughout the world. During its development, it consumes three times more water than typical native vegetation and is responsible for changing the landscape of riparian areas; the high biomass productivity and the annual harvest period make this crop an alternative to produce and/or extract industrial bioproducts. The main objective of this research was to evaluate the feasibility of using giant reed in a bioprocess that produces enzymes by a solid-state fermentation experiment, four fungal species were tested (Aspergillus niger GH1, Aspergillus niger PSH, Trichoderma harzianum, and Rhizopus oryzae); enzyme activities were performed using reported methodologies varying only reaction volumes. The A. niger GH1 and PSH strains were the best adapted to the plant material, A. niger GH1 was capable to produce 4 of the 5 evaluated enzymes (cellulase-endoglucanase (174.39 ± 19.62 U/L), xylanase (1313.31 ± 39.25 U/L), invertase (642.22 ± 23.55 U/L), and polyphenol oxidase (6094.01 ± 306.54) while A. niger PSH was able to produce 3 of the 5 evaluated enzymes (cellulase-endoglucanase (147.09 ± 13.88 U/L), xylanase (1307.76 ± 31.40 U/L), and invertase (603.92 ± 3.14 U/L)
