    currentWithin a disaster context, Dr. Laurie Pearce has a broad range of interests including community development; hazard, risk and vulnerability analysis; issues of gender, culture and vulnerability; and the psychosocial dimensions of disaster. Laurie Pearce, MSW, MA, PhD, has specialized in disaster management and traumatic stress for over 25 years. She is a member of the World Association of Disaster and Emergency Medicine, the Association of Traumatic Stress Specialists, the International Disaster Sociological Association and the Emergency Preparedness for Industry and Commerce Council of BC. Laurie is a Research Associate at the Justice Institute of British Columbia, an Associate Faculty member at Royal Roads University, and is affiliated with the University of British Columbia Institute for International Health.
