    Model Accuracy Data for Post-Construction Evaluation of Forecast Accuracy in Minnesota

    This data was used for the project: Post-Construction Evaluation of Forecast Accuracy Parthasarathi, Pavithra; Levinson, David (Minnesota Department of Transportation, 2009)This research evaluates the accuracy of demand forecasts using a sample of recently-completed projects in Minnesota and identifies the factors influencing the inaccuracy in forecasts. The forecast traffic data for this study is drawn from Environmental Impact Statements (EIS), Transportation Analysis Reports (TAR) and other forecast reports produced by the Minnesota Department of Transportation (Mn/DOT) with a horizon forecast year of 2010 or earlier. The actual traffic data is compiled from the database of traffic counts maintained by the Office of Transportation Data and Analysis at Mn/DOT. Based on recent research on forecast accuracy, the inaccuracy of traffic forecasts is estimated as a ratio of the forecast traffic to the actual traffic. The estimation of forecast inaccuracy also involves a comparison of the socioeconomic and demographic assumptions, the assumed networks to the actual in-place networks and other travel behavior assumptions that went into generating the traffic forecasts against actual conditions. The analysis indicates a general trend of underestimation in roadway traffic forecasts with factors such as highway type, functional classification, and direction playing an influencing role. Roadways with higher volumes and higher functional classifications such as freeways are subject to underestimation compared to lower volume roadways/functional classifications. The comparison of demographic forecasts shows a trend of overestimation while the comparison of travel behavior characteristics indicates a lack of incorporation of fundamental shifts and societal changes.Minnesota Department of TransportationParthasarthi, Pavithra K; Levinson, David M.     In a series of three letters, Pavithra describes to their unborn child what it’s like to be pregnant. The first conveys the terror of carrying a new being into a violently homophobic and racist world. The second and third letters recall the desire and beauty that the unborn child sparks in them. In the fourth letter, Pavithra writes to Noor Momo, now six years old, reflecting on the realities of parenting amidst ongoing violence and the uncertainties of the COVID-19 pandemic. In this final letter, Pavithra invokes Noor’s aunts: her sister Raksha, and her dear friends Kriti, Batool, Mabel, and Marie. The words Chitthi, Masi, Khala and Chyama refer to “mother’s sister” in Tamil, Hindi, Urdu, and Nepali, respectively

    In the UK, research has highlighted the need for improved education in alcohol and sexual health in the adolescent population. Consequently, Relationships and Sex Education and Health Education were made compulsory in 2019. However, preceding research highlighted that school-based alcohol and sexual health education was ill-suited to building associated health skills and competencies. Health literacy as a concept aims to address these issues by providing a framework within which health related competencies and outcomes can be developed. Consequently, the aim of this research was to develop models of alcohol and sexual health literacy in adolescents and further interrogate the use of such models in education, exploring the barriers to developing alcohol and sexual health literacy in adolescents though formal education. A pragmatic, mixed methods approach was utilised to explore the research questions. The study contributed to the field of research by creating robust, theory-based models of alcohol and sexual health literacy and discovering the following: • Current measures of adolescent health literacy are poorly designed, often only accounting for functional health literacy. • There are many barriers that need to be overcome to effectively deliver alcohol and sexual health education in schools, specifically, that competencies in alcohol and sexual health are perceived as challenging to teach and measure within a school setting. • Internationally, curriculum guidelines tend to focus on the risks associated with alcohol and sexual health and fall short in building competencies over knowledge and in aiding educators with instruction. • Introduction of compulsory Relationships and Sexual Health Education and Health Education in the UK will have little significant impact if it is not supported with more training and support for educators.These findings and the models produced have significant connotations for the design and delivery of alcohol and sexual health education in schools

    JTLU vol. 7, no. 2, pp. 153-170 (2014)This research aims to develop quantitative measures that capture various aspects of the underlying network structure, using aggregate level travel data from fifty metropolitan areas across the US. The influence of these measures on system performance is then tested using statistical regression models. The results corroborate that the quantitative measures of network structure affect the system performance.     Studies on the Effect of Nuclear-penetrating Anti-dsDNA Autoantibody IgG and Recombinant VH Domain in Lupus Nephritis-associated Kidney Cells

    The aim of this study is to investigate the pathological impacts of the anti-dsDNA antibodies, that are basically causative factors in autoimmune diseases. The anti-dsDNA autoantibody 2C10 IgG and its recombinant fragment 2C10 VH domain were tested in the normal murine kidney mesangial cells (MES) and human cervical cancer cell (HeLa) to know the pathogenic aspect of these antibodies. It was observed that the 2C10 IgG and 2C10 VH domain penetrated into the target cells and reduced their cell proliferation and the penetrated autoantibodies simultaneously activated the signal molecules ERK1/2 and p38. Further observation revealed that 2C10 IgG and 2C10 VH persistently activated RSK-1 and upregulated BCL-2 expression. In mesangial cell line, the 2C10 IgG and 2C10 VH stimulated the transcription of pro-inflammatory genes TNF-α, IL-6 and IL-1β through ATF-2 activation enormously, but the same pattern was not observed in HeLa cells. The activation of these signal molecules was linked to the production of pro-inflammatory cytokines, because inhibition of the molecules suppressed the cytokine production. Collectively, the cell-and nuclear-penetrating autoantibodies 2C10 IgG and 2C10 VH seem to play a pathogenic role in mesangial cells through activation of p38, MAPKAPKK2, RSK-1, BCL-2 and ATF-2 and consequent production of pro-inflammatory cytokines.I.
