კონფერენცია ეძღვნება ჭაბუა ამირეჯიბის დაბადებიდან 100 წლის იუბილეს/ The Conference is Dedicated to the 100th Anniversary of Chabua AmirejibiIn the historical memory of Georgian nation, Chabua Amirejibi chose the name Giorgi Brtskhinvale (brilliant) and created the novel where the main character is Giorgi the Brilliant also known as “the best within the humans” by historians. Of course, the novel is not the research work about Georgian history or about the life of Giorgi the Brilliant. During writing the novel he emphasizes the soul of the epoch and expresses it in a very diverse manner. Author of the novel chose the method of allegory to show personal freedom, moral selection, paradigm of political determination, and to show the historical-cultural context of Georgian King’s activities. The character of Giorgi the Brilliant became synonymous with the dedication to keeping the existence of the nation and country, whose whole activities were related to the future hope and historical memory of the nation. In the critical epoch when even in contemporary literature we are at the risk of losing the phenomenon of heroes, Giorgi the Brilliant by Chabua Amirejibi is the one with knight spirit, philosophically minded and person with high moral principles. The goal of creating the novel is the attempt to show the historical-cultural meaning of the king’s context in complains with the contemporary life. The main interest of the author to Giorgi the Brilliant and his epoch comes from the wish to finding the valuable place in the world for our nation, seeking the function of Georgia as the central country in Caucasus. He wants to show, at the initial stage of the weakening of the imperial foreign powers, what cautious, prudent, diplomatic moves the inhabitants of the enslaved, abandoned, blood-soaked land should have made, in which an allegorical point of view is clearly read. Situated at the crossroad of East and West, North and South, being the most important country for the big and small countries of Europe and Asia, Georgia was playing the role of combining cultural, economic, civilization and the world. All those meaningful ideas were under the risk of getting lost and was especially painful for the author. Not surprisingly, same issues are discussed in “Data Tutashkhia”. In “Giorgi the Brilliant” the hidden idea is to restore this function of the country. The idea of freedom and state were the most actual part of our life and the historical face of the king is given according those allegoric meanings

On the extensions of the De Giorgi approach to nonlinear hyperbolic equations

No full text
In this talk we present an overview on the extensions of the De Giorgi approach to general second order nonlinear hyperbolic equations. We start with an introduction to the original conjecture by E. De Giorgi ([1, 2]) and to its solution by E. Serra and P. Tilli ([4]). Then, we discuss a first extension of this idea (Serra&Tilli, [5]) aimed at investigating a wide class of homogeneous equations. Finally, we announce a further extension to nonhomogeneous equations, obtained by the author in [9] in collaboration with P. Tilli

Linear B palaeography and scribal practices are the main topics of the book under review, The Undeciphered signs of Linear B. Interpretation and Scribal Practices by Anna P. Judson. The book is part of a current trend of studies on Bronze Age Aegean writings that focuses on palaeography on one hand and on deciphering on the other. Indeed, the book’s main goal is to propose a new methodology for determining possible sound-values for the undeciphered Linear B signs. The author also used the analysis of these fourteen signs as a case study to investigate the scribal practices of the Mycenaean scribes and to try to further clarify the administrative role of the scribes. Furthermore, the author used the undeciphered Linear B signs to test whether palaeography can actually be used to determine the relative chronology of the tablets. Therefore, the book addresses some of the major issues currently being debated, offering suggestions on questions still opened in Mycenaean philology and palaeography

Una lettera odeporica di Cosimo De Giorgi

EnWhile the first half of the nineteenth century saw the inauguration of a penchant for local and circumscribed itineraries, Cosimo De Giorgi, in a long and detailed letter to a friend from Pisa (later given to the press), sets out his brief experience of a railroad journey from Bari to Taranto. It is a report that skillfully combines technical and naturalistic information about the territory with sketchy descriptions of the places, but it is also embellished with notes on the author's state of mind and with his erudite observations. The essay aims to frame this lesser-known text by the eclectic Salento author within the framework of nineteenth-century odeporics by noting its characters and specificities.

EnCosimo De Giorgi combined his various interests in scientific investigation with a sincere interest in teaching, which he practised mainly at a technical college in Lecce. His teaching method involved a direct confrontation with reality, to test the concepts learned in class. He organised carefully prepared and adequately documented field trips. He took his commitment as a teacher, which he carried out for many years, very seriously. He was the author of a number of school manuals, in which he proved to be a careful disseminator of the disciplines he taught.

In this article it will be analyzed one of the first dramas written directly in the French language by Matei Vișniec, an established and well-known French-Romanian author, starting from 1987, the year of his self-exile in France due to the persecutions of the communist regime that scourged the most original intellectuals of that period. I have preferred, in the analysis of this theatrical piece, an approach as close as possible to anthropology and sociology, making use of many texts ranging from aesthetic essays to journalistic articles, to present a reading as innovative as possible on one of the many forms of individual dispossession that the author elects here, namely the distorted use of mass media, recognizing at the same time in the dense versatility of the play the stimulus for a necessarily plural reading of the dramaturgical text. The following analysis will therefore try to clarify at least one side of this fascinating drama, which is so affected by the vein of the Absurd
