No full textBinnen de Rijkswaterstaat werkt men aan een wiskundig model om het gedrag van slib in het Eems-Dollard estuarium te kunnen voorspellen. Hiervoor is onderzoek naar de slibconcentratie bij de stortlokatie in het Groote Gat gedaan. Door slibsensoren werd de troebelheid gemeten. Hieruit kon door ijking aan de hand van monsters het slibgehalte bepaald worden. De waarden voor de saliniteit zijn op dezelfde manier verkregen. De stortingen blijken effect te hebben op de spreiding in de verdeling van zowel gemiddelde als extreme waarden in het slibgehalte. Waterstanden, Eemsafvoeren, wind, golven en bodemhellingen zijn hierin ook invloedsfactoren
Contribution to the study of mass spectrometry fragmentation of lignin model compounds
No full textNo presente trabalho, foram realizadas análises de espectrometria de massas de compostos-modelo de lignina, bem como de ligninas naturais. Os compostos-modelo utilizados são estruturas que contêm os grupos funcionais presentes na lignina. A partir do estudo dos padrões de fragmentação desses modelos, foi elaborada uma relação com o aumento da fragmentação, identificando-se os picos base de cada estrutura e relacionando-os com características estruturais presentes em macromoléculas de lignina dura (guaiacil) e branda (siringil). A partir dos resultados da espectrometria de massas dos compostos-modelo de lignina obtidos da literatura, foi desenvolvido um programa de computador em linguagem Pascal, permitindo percorrer o espectro de massa e identificar os caminhos de fragmentação e os produtos gerados.This work reports mass spectrometry studies of lignin model compounds as well as some natural lignins. The model compounds used are structures containing the functional groups typically present in lignins. The study of their fragmentation pathways has provided the basis for establishing a pattern of fragmentation, identifying the main peaks in the mass spectra, and correlating them with characteristic structural features present in syringyl (softwood) and guaiacyl (hardwood) lignins. Based on the results reported in the literature concerning mass spectrometry of lignin model compounds, a computer program was developed (in Pascal), which allows the identification of the most relevant fragmentation pathways by systematically analyzing the entire mass spectrum
Development of nature-oriented dairy farm systems with an optimization model: the case of ‘Farming for Nature’ in ‘de Langstraat’, the Netherlands
No full text‘Farming for Nature’, a relatively new policy instrument being tried out in the Netherlands, is evaluated. The concept has been designed to allow dairy farmers to improve nature conservation on their farms. Under the scheme, no manure, fertilizer, or feed – concentrates or roughage - may be imported into farm systems from external sources. The feasibility of such a self-sustaining system and the conditions required for it to deliver the desired results, are explored with a farm-based linear programming model known as FIONA (Farm based Integrated Optimization Model for Nature and Agriculture). The model is explained and applied to ‘de Langstraat’, a region in southern Netherlands. The results show that levels of production under the ‘Farming for Nature’ regime are dependent upon soil fertility and the proportion of land that is suitable for growing arable crops. If all available land on a dairy farm in the scheme is arable land, then high production levels of up to 7,500 kg milk per hectare can be realized. If only 30% of the farm area is suitable for arable crops, then only lower production levels, of about 6,600 kg milk per hectare can be realized. The scheme has positive ecological effects. Both nature and cultural landscape values may benefit significantly from the concept. Improvement in ecological terms however, carries a price in terms of agricultural income. An average dairy farm adopting the concept of ‘Farming for Nature’ experiences an income loss of approximately € 840 per hectare in the short-run (5-10 years). More important is the observation that the scale of such farms in the short-run might be too small to earn an attractive income for its workers, even when fully compensated according to European Union regulations.nature management, dairy farming system, linear programming, farm-economics, Farm Management, Land Economics/Use,
L'Internet et le droit international privé: un mariage boiteux ?
No full textQuiconque aujourd’hui souhaitant profiter des avantages commerciaux d’Internet risque de faire face à une réalité juridique complexe. Qui peut rendre jugement d’un conflit né d’Internet ? Comment faire reconnaître un jugement rendu dans un autre pays ? Ces questions soulèvent beaucoup d’intérêt pour les juristes du cyberespace auqle l’auteur tente de répondre. Par des exemples concrets, notamment l’affaire Yahoo! et celle de Gutnick, l’auteur analyse également les relations entre Internet et le droit international privé. On voit donc les tendances qui se dégagent concernant les actes de dommage, la responsabilité et les victimes sur les réseaux et de quelle façon les cours internationales entendent les régler.Whoever today wishes to benefit from the commercial advantages of Internet risks embezzelment in a complex legal reality. Who can give judgement on an Internet based conflict? How should be recognized a judgement given in another state or territory? These questions raise much interest for cyberspace lawyers and the author proposes concrete answers. Using the “Yahoo!” and the “Gutnick” cases, the author also analyzes the relationship between Internet and international private law. Thus, one sees the emerging tendencies concerning the acts of damage, the liability and the network victims and how international courts intend to regulate them
