Local is Global:Exploring Urban Sustainability through Spirit of Place and Culture
Places have a distinct identity that we associate it with, making each of them different from other places that we frequent. The spirit of any place helps read and interpret the “memory” of a territory, its environmental knowledge, growth rules and system of relationships. Unchecked development, growth and regulations are changing places beyond recognition, diluting its identity and making them all too similar in different ways. Homogenisation of urban centres is becoming a growing global concern. It becomes more relevant considering the identity crises that cities face growing in a world that is grappling with climate change. While the discussion mostly revolves around larger cities with attempts to resurrect a unique identity to make them distinctive and attractive from other urban centres across the world, small to mid-sized cities are the most dynamic in this change now, grappling with the present pattern of urbanisation, compounded by globalisation and broad brushed developmental frameworks. This paper aims to sustainably rethink the transformations in these towns, considering local layers of history, ecology and culture to root its future identity and growth.Ponnani is a coastal town in Kerala, undergoing transformation into a new urban centre with a character detached from its local spirit, much like many other growing rurban towns of Kerala. Its old precinct which gave Ponnani, a very strong identity rooted in its historical presence as an important trading port town (Tyndis) and a cultural landscape, is slowly deteriorating. The methodology involves a comparative study of the old and new towns in terms of its morphological systems, interfaces and associations. This gives us an insight into the transformations in spirit, aspirations and voids in planning frameworks that shape the new developments. A sustainable regeneration framework is then envisioned to renew its identity and rebuild the image of the place
Arizona Nurses Association Member Involvement in Public Policy
abstract: The purpose of the study was to determine the level and type of public policy involvement among registered nurses (RN) who are members of the Arizona Nurses Association (AzNA). Furthermore, the aim of the study was to identify the knowledge base and motivation of nurses and their involvement in public policy as well as the barriers and benefits. A 20- item survey was sent to all of the members of AzNA. There were 39 responses used in the analysis. The highest reported public policy activities in which the nurses had participated were: voted (90%), contacted a public official (51%), and gave money to a campaign or for a public policy concern (46%). Lack of time was the most frequently reported barrier to involvement and improving the health of the public was the most frequently reported benefit to involvement. The number of public policy education/information sources and the highest level of education positively correlate to the nurses' total number of public policy activities (r = .627 p <0.05; r = .504, p <0.05). Based on the results of stepwise linear regression analysis, the participants' age, number of education/information sources, and efficacy expectation predict 68.8% of involvement in public policy activities. The greater the number of education/information sources, the greater the number of public policy activities nurses report having participated in

Este estado del arte, explicara desde un paradigma mixto de investigación, los diferentes factores que se deben tener en cuenta a la hora de implementar otras opciones flexibles de educar y se educado, teniendo en cuenta que las TIC son un fenómeno en proceso de adaptación, teniendo en cuenta que un estado del arte, se realiza o se estructura de tal manera que la información explicita e implícita postulada por su autor, permita evidenciar que es conocimiento de punta lo mas concreto y actual con respecto al tema a tratar, es importante mencionar que dicho análisis se relaciona con la segunda fase del proyecto investigativo, que es la aplicación o el trabajo de campo el cual fue realizado con el propósito de claro, de obtener información física con relación a los recursos tecnológicos y de desarrollo utilizados por parte de la UCC y como dichos recursos o herramientas son implementados, si realmente se usa con el propósito con el cual fueron implementados, si enriquecen o no el ejercicio académico tanto del docente como del estudiante, y si son realmente suficientes para el ámbito psicoeducativo que la educación requiere para un proceso de aprendizaje completo e integral.ICTs are fundamental tools to consolidate the higher educational process, taking into account the conditions and demands of the environment, therefore in this documentary research, the process of information collection was based on 12 articles of both quantitative and qualitative mostly , through which it is intended to publicize the different views of authors of great theoretical impact on the object of study. There is concern that within the same educational context, teachers and students reject in some way, the application, appropriation and mastery of new pedagogies that generate changes inside and outside the classroom, allowing to guarantee an education with multiple learning alternatives and consolidation of knowledge, clearly explained in the light of the different findings presented by various authors that explain the development of the phenomenon of ICT within the educational context. This state of the art, will explain from a mixed research paradigm, the different factors that must be taken into account when implementing other flexible options to educate and be educated, taking into account that ICTs are a phenomenon in the process of adaptation, taking into account that a state of the art, is carried out or structured in such a way that the explicit and implicit information postulated by its author, allows to show that the most concrete and current knowledge regarding the subject to be treated is important, it is important to mention that said analysis is related to the second phase of the research project, which is the application or the field work which was carried out with the purpose of clear, of obtaining physical information in relation to the technological and development resources used by the UCC and how such resources or tools are implemented, if it is actually used for the purpose for which they were implemented, if they enrich or not the academic exercise of both the teacher and the student, and if they are really sufficient for the psychoeducational field that education requires for a complete and comprehensive learning process.1.
