Master de Producció i Recerca Artística, Facultat de Belles Arts, Universitat de Barcelona. Curs: 2023-2024. The interest in capturing, reproducing, expanding, and even imitating human vision has not stopped evolving throughout history in a continuous replication from the past to the future and from the future to the past. How has technology been changing our way of relating to vision and, therefore, our way of looking? Some theorists point out three revolutions of the look: the invention of perspective, the camera, and the screens. Three milestones that would be framed in the pre-photographic, photographic, and post-photographic eras (Fontcuberta et al, 2024). These classifications determine changes in how the viewer relates to the very representation of reality. This research proposes a journey through what I consider to be the biggest changes in history in our way of looking. Eye extension technologies have marked and transported us from a framed look (which would also include photography), through a multiplied one (on screens) to the current immersive one (in within). Along the way, we will analyze some of the moments and intermediate inventions that have been propitiating new blinks in the history of our way of looking. The artworks that accompany the text (both own and referential) will also stop by these specific details to pave the way towards the future (always a conspiratorial word) and open a reflection from the perspective of art, philosophy, irony or the absurd

Master de Producció i Recerca Artística, Facultat de Belles Arts, Universitat de Barcelona. Curs: 2021-2022. This Master's Thesis in Artistic Production and Research is the activation and registration of the participatory experience in an artistic project carried out in the Ebro Delta as a natural and agricultural space. It is framed as an artistic practice that takes place in a specific context assuming a clear commitment to a new construction of the landscape. A practice that aims to influence the social and territorial context of the Delta, and thus be able to demonstrate the potential of art in the implication of processes of transformation of the social space relative to a territory. A practice that has also been carried out in collaboration with people from other disciplinary fields, and that explores other goals that go beyond artistic approaches. After a justification based on a theoretical framework built from artistic references related to the theme or methodology discussed here, and background, with the support of artists who work in this context, including their own work; This research work narrates how all the phases of the cultivation of a rice field will take place to make possible a unique project in the agricultural world. The innovation that concerns us focuses on verifying the paradigm shift of gender inequalities also in the landscape and the contribution to making visible the changes that are taking place in agrarian society. From this perspective, we collect the testimonies that show in which places the spaces of legitimation of power are located in rural areas. The methodology used consists of the activation of a collaborative dynamic with the intention of causing the cultivation of a rice field by a group of women farmers from the Ebro Delta with the aim of analyzing whether it is possible to influence the social and territorial context through art. practice, through the visibility of the work carried out by a group of women in the rural context, participating in the contribution of synergies and resources and registering both incidents and achievements in those spaces classified as masculinized

Llevándolas a traspasar metafóricamente las puertas de la misma y pasando así a formar parte de ella en forma de esculturas.[eng] The project aims to create a space for reflexion on the paradox posed by the ways of life of the urban space of the Faculty of Fine Arts of Barcelona, where training and opportunities offer coexist within buildings along with the lack of opportunities in outside the institution where sex work is carried out. The research focuses interest both within and in the vicinity of the faculty, through an approach to the reality of trans people who engage in sex work in the area in question and the dynamics that are created from their presence in the same space.Through the gaze of three of them Claudia, Marga and Esther. The plastic interpretation will materialize in pieces thermoformed with plastic bags, giving shape and meaning to them, given their materiality and the connotations acquired in the symbolic, acting as the container and content of the sculptural portrait. The sensitive practice tries to recontextualize the place of the collaborators outside the institution. Leading them to metaphorically go through the doors of it and thus becoming part of her in the form of sculptures. keywords: Institution, prostitution, trans, space, thermoforming

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis

The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed

    Variations on the Author

“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship

Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis

We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Finally, we show by means of an example that our findings have a high practical relevance.information science;Pearson correlation;cosine;similarity measure;author cocitation analysis

Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts

We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases. It is argued that increasingly available digital full text research papers make it possible for citation analysis studies to go beyond what the ISI databases have directly supported and to employ more sophisticated methods
