Croatian Regions in Ján Kollár's Travelogue
In his first travelogue titled Cestopis obsahující cestu do Horní Italie a odtud přes Tyrolsko a Baworsko, se zwláštním ohledem na slawjanské žiwly roku 1841 konanau a sepsanau od Jana Kollára, Ján Kollár describes his travel through Croatian regions and short sojourns in Zagreb, Karlovac and Rijeka. Using four dominant themes, namely, historicism, Pan-Slavism, the bourgeois elite and the Croatian folk, the author of the article analyzes the Croatian motifs in Ján Kollár's travelogue, and demonstrates that the Croatian episode functions in it as a separate thematic and stylistic piece and somewhat of an introduction to the principal part of the travelogue in which Kollár intends to collect evidence of the ancient Slavic settlement of Apenine peninsula and about the Slavic roots of Italian culture thus placing the Croatian reception of this work in the context of the influence of Kollár's ideas in ninteenth-century Croatia

Quasi-locality and Property A
Let X be a metric space with bounded geometry, , and let E be a Banach space. The main result of this paper is that either if X has Yu's Property A and , or without any condition on X when , then quasi-local operators on belong to (the appropriate variant of) the Roe algebra of X. This generalises the existing results of this type by Lange and Rabinovich, Engel, Tikuisis and the first author, and Li, Wang and the second author. As consequences, we obtain that uniform -Roe algebras (of spaces with Property A) are closed under taking inverses, and another condition characterising Property A, akin to the operator norm localisation for quasi-local operators
Ján Zavarský’s Opera Scenographies
The present study aims to describe the work that Ján Zavarský, one of the most prominent contemporary Slovak scenographers, has done for musical theatre, mainly opera. The author draws on her years of experience as an audience member, production recordings, photographs, scene designs, and other documentation. Her study is the first attempt at mapping the language of expression that Zavarský has created in two decades, especially in cooperation with the directors Martin Otava and Karla Štaubertová. First, the author deals with the process of creation of a scenographic proposal in dialogue with a director, which gives rise to a scenographic and directorial concept of a production. It then proceeds to identifying the characteristic features of Zavarský’s approach to opera scenography, which include the architectural concept of the scene, simplicity of expression, formal and colour stylization, and the connection between scenography and the movement of characters on the stage. The study includes a list of Zavarský’s scenographies and photographs documenting the individual features of his work for musical theatre in approximately ten productions
Von der Klage Ungarns bis zur Klage von Slavia im Werk von Ján Kollár
The study deals with one of the central motifs of Ján Kollár’s work ‘Slávy dcera’, namely with the history of the figure of Complaining Slavia. Kollár derives the motif from an address given in 1527 by the Humanist Latin poet Caspar Ursinus Velius, and from Velius’s epistle entitled ‘Querela Austriae’. The motif entered Hungary’s Latin-language literature and subsequently its Hungarian-language literature also, becoming an important topos in Late Humanist and Baroque writing. A didactic poem by Ján Kollár in Latin proves that its author was familiar with the Querela Hungariae (Complaining Hungary) topos since his days at secondary school. At the same time, Kollár reinterpreted the topos according to the ideological requirements of the national movements of the early 19th century, changing Complaining Hungary into Complaining Slavia. Kollár refashioned the topos from the poetic point of view also, in accordance with the rules of Classicism and Romanticism
Approximate Polynomial Greatest Common Divisor
Title: Approximate Polynomial Greatest Common Divisor Author: Ján Eliaš Department: Department of Numerical Mathematics, MFF UK Supervisor: Doc. RNDr. Jan Zítko, CSc., Department of Numerical Mathematics, MFF UK Abstract: The computation of polynomial greatest common divisor (GCD) ranks among basic algebraic problems with many applications. The Euclidean algorithm is the oldest and usual technique for computing GCD. However, the GCD computation problem is ill-posed, particularly when some unknown noise is applied to the polyno- mial coefficients. Since the Euclidean algorithm is unstable, new methods have been extensively studied in recent years. Methods based on the numerical rank estimation represent one group of current meth- ods. Their disadvantage is that the numerical rank cannot be computed reliably due to the sensitivity of singular values on noise. The aim of the work is to overcome the ill-posed sensitivity of GCD computation in the presence of noise. Keywords: AGCD, Sylvester matrix, numerical rank, TL
Implementation of selected database operations in parallel environment
Title: Implementation of selected database operations in parallel environment Author: Bc. Ján Majdan Department: Department of Software Engineering Supervisor: RNDr. David Bednárek, Ph.D. Abstract: This thesis describes several design possibilities of database operations in a parallel environment called Bobox. First, the thesis covers theory of da- tabases as well as algorithms needed to implement database operations in main memory. Next part discusses the usage of hash tables to implement parallel data- base operations. The key principles discussed contain hashing approaches based on a shared hash table, as well as principles of data preprocessing (local hash Table). The thesis then describes practical usage of selected database operations, which were implemented based on the principles described in the first theory sec- tions. The implementation also involves performance measurement at different levels of parallelism. Finally, acquired results are analyzed and discussed in terms of scalability of parallelism and performance in the Bobox environment. Keywords: database operations, Bobox, parallelism, hashing, data preprocessing
Vessel segmentation
Title: Vessel segmentation Author: Ján Dupej Department / Institute: Department of Software and Computer Science Education Supervisor of the master thesis: RNDr. Josef Pelikán, KSVI Abstract: In this thesis we researched some of the blood vessed segmentation and visualization techniques currently available for angiography on CT data. We then designed, implemented and tested a system that allows both semi-automatic and automatic vessel segmentation and visualization. For vessel segmantation and tracking we used a region-growing algorithm that we overhauled with several heuristics and combined with centerline detection. We then automated this algorithm by automatic seed generation. The visualization part is accomplished with an adaptation of the well-known straightened CPR method that we enhanced so that it visualizes the whole cross-section of the blood vessel, instead of just one line of it. Furthermore, we used the Bishop frame to maintain minimal twist of the curve-local coordinate system along the whole vessel. Keywords: vessel segmentation, medical data analysis, volume dat
MATERIAL FLOWS IN PRIMARY WOOD PROCESSING IN SLOVAKIA
Material flow analysis was used to reveal and quantify relations between the resources and the primary uses of wood. The paper deal with the analysis of raw wood flows in Slovakia in two approaches to wood flow modelling were utilised - wood balance and wood resource balance. Wood balance was presented to demonstrate a general view of the resources and primary uses of roundwood without analysing internal flows. The wood resource balance, as a more detailed analysis, takes into account the uses of wood as a material and also the by-products and waste generated by the production that could be used as inputs for further uses in wood processing or energy sectors. The latter balance was compiled using available official statistics supplemented by a questionnaire to estimate missing data for waste streams with a total consumption of 10.78 mil. m3 roundwood
Learning Organization in House of Children and Youth Conditions in Prague (region Prague)
TITLE: Learning Organization in House of Children and Youth Conditions in Prague (region Prague) AUTHOR: Bc. Ján Rybárik DEPARTMENT: English language department / Centrum of the School Management SUPERVISOR: PhDr. Václav Trojan, Ph.D. ABSTRACT: The thesis deals with the application of the theory of learning organization in terms of school facilities for leisure education - Houses of children and youth in Prague. Author builds on the thesis of 2009 which dealt with the similar theme of the Houses of children and youth and their current conditions in the Czech Republic. The thesis is based on the theoretical principles of learning organizations established especially by Peter M. Senge. The actual status of the learning organization was diagnosed by the questionnaire survey in the following areas: the organization structure (flexibility, information sharing, and teamwork); processes (management and skills knowledge, information technology); culture (leadership, learning support, and feedback - evaluation); stimulation (strategy, personal development, motivation). Author provides an analysis of the data obtained in the questionnaire research (including 117 respondents of Houses of children and youth in Prague). The survey results were consequently compared with the former results of a similar questionnaire..
