NEW SHORT-CHANNEL N-MOSFET CURRENT-VOLTAGE MODEL IN STRONG INVERSION AND UNIFIED PARAMETER EXTRACTION METHOD
We propose a new semi-empirical strong inversion current-voltage (I-V) model for submicrometer n-channel MOSFET's which is suitable for circuit simulation and rapid process characterization. Our model is based on a more accurate velocity-field relationship in the linear region and finite drain conductance due to channel length modulation effect in the saturation region. Our parameter extraction starts from the experimental determination of the MOSFET saturation current and saturation voltage by differentiating the output characteristics in a unified and unambiguous way. We use these results in order to extract the device and process parameters such as the effective electron saturation velocity and mobility, drain and source series resistances, effective gate length and characteristic length for channel length modulation, and short-channel effects systematically. The deduced values agree well with other independent measurements. We report the results of experimental studies of wide n-MOSFET's with nominal gate lengths of 0.8, 1.0, and 1.2-mu-m fabricated by n-well CMOS process. The calculated I-V characteristics using the extracted parameters show excellent agreement with the measurement results. The salient feature of our approach is that it allows the automatic parameter extraction in a systematic and unified manner, which is extremely versatile for statistical yield analysis due to parameter variation
Suitability of AFLP markers for the study of Genetic relationships among Korean native dogs
To determine the genetic relationships among domestic dog breeds, we performed both a sequence comparison of mitochondrial DNA (mtDNA) and an amplified fragment length polymorphisms (AFLP) analysis. Three of four regions of mtDNA, cytochrome b, cytochrome oxidase subunit II, and 16S rRNA genes were highly homogeneous among dog breeds, whereas the other region, the control region, showed relatively high polymorphisms with a maximum percentage difference of 3.18%. However, the control region showed extensive polymorphism even within breeds, and the relationship tree derived from the data could not clearly delimit distinct breeds. 19 EcoRI/MseI primer combinations were used to generate AFLP markers among 25 dogs from 11 breeds including three Korean native dogs. These amplification reactions allowed the detection of more than 1900 amplification products of which 408 were identified as polymorphic bands. Unrooted neighbor-joining tree based on dissimilarity values showed that the Korean native dogs were clustered together with the Asian dogs and that the Asian originated dogs were clustered separately from Western originated dogs. A consensus tree using parsimony method also showed Korean native dogs were grouped separately from the other dogs with moderate bootstrap values. Taken together, it is concluded that AFLP analysis is a more informative tool for revealing genetic relationships among dog breeds than mtDNA sequence comparison
SORPTION AND DESORPTION BEHAVIOR OF CO-60, SR-85, AND CS-137 IN A POROUS TUFF - MECHANISMS AND KINETICS
Sorption experiments of Co-60, Sr-85 and Cs-137 were carried out to study sorption characteristics onto a porous tuff. Sorption kinetics and rate controlling step were examined. The effects of Particle size on sorption and distribution ratio were also investigated. Desorption experiments were carried out by using extracting reagents to distinguish sorption mechanisms such as reversible sorption in groundwater condition, ion exchange, association with ferro-manganese oxides or oxyhydroxides, and irreversible fixation. Strontium sorbed onto the tuff surface mainly by the ion exchange reaction which was fast and reversible. Cobalt and cesium do not sorb by simple step. The main sorptive binding of cobalt was the association with ferro-manganese oxides and the secondary one was the irreversible fixation. Diffusion into the lattice of rock minerals controlled the sorption rate of cobalt. The main sorption of cesium was the irreversible fixation, secondary one was the ion exchange

Going Beyond Counting First Authors in Author Co-citation Analysis
The present study examines one of the fundamental aspects of author co-citation analysis (ACA) - the way co-citation
counts are defined. Co-citation counting provides the data on which all subsequent statistical analyses and mappings
are based, and we compare ACA results based on two different types of co-citation counting - the traditional type that
only counts the first one among a cited work's authors on the one hand and a non-traditional type that takes into
account the first 5 authors of a cited work on the other hand. Results indicate that the picture produced through this non-traditional author co-citation counting contains more coherent author groups and is therefore considerably clearer. However, this picture represents fewer specialties in the research field being studied than that produced through the traditional first-author co-citation counting when the same number of top-ranked authors is selected and analyzed. Reasons for these effects are discussed
Variations on the Author
“Variations on the Author” discusses two of Eduardo Coutinho’s recent films (Um Dia na Vida, from 2010, and Últimas Conversas, posthumously released in 2015) and their contribution to the general question of documentary authorship. The director’s filmography is characterized by a consistent yet self-effacing form of authorial self-inscription: Coutinho often features as an interviewer that rather than express opinions propels discourses; an interviewer that is good at listening. This mode of self-inscription characterizes him as an author who is not expressive but who is nonetheless markedly present on the screen. In Um Dia na Vida, however, Coutinho is completely absent form the image, while Últimas Conversas, on the contrary, includes a confessional prologue that moves the director from the margins to the center of his films. This article examines the ways in which these works stand out in the filmography of a director who offers new insights into the notion of cinematic authorship
Appropriate Similarity Measures for Author Cocitation Analysis
We provide a number of new insights into the methodological discussion about author cocitation analysis. We first argue that the use of the Pearson correlation for measuring the similarity between authors’ cocitation profiles is not very satisfactory. We then discuss what kind of similarity measures may be used as an alternative to the Pearson correlation. We consider three similarity measures in particular. One is the well-known cosine. The other two similarity measures have not been used before in the bibliometric literature. Dispelling the Myths Behind First-author Citation Counts
We conducted a full-scale evaluative citation analysis study of scholars in the XML research field to explore just how different from each other author rankings resulting from different citation counting methods actually are, and to demonstrate the capability of emerging data and tools on the Web in supporting more realistic citation counting methods. Our results contest some common arguments for the continued
use of first-author citation counts in the evaluation of scholars, such as high correlations between author rankings by first-author citation counts and other citation
counting methods, and high costs of using more realistic citation counting methods that are not well-supported by the ISI databases.
