Ico Parisi e Santa Maria dell'Osa. «Percorrenza fotografica»
No full textIco Parisi intervistato da Enrico Crispolti nel 1980 dichiarava l'importanza vitale della fotografia come mezzo di progettazione architettonica. Il caso della chiesa di Santa Maria dell’Osa, unico edificio religioso costruito da Parisi che alla progettazione del sacro ha tuttavia dedicato molta attenzione e moltissimi disegni, è particolarmente importante nel dichiarare le capacità creative poliedriche del suo autore e di interazione con l'arte. Di misure minime, di pianta ellittica, Santa Maria rappresenta un piccolo gioiello di organicità espressiva del sacro, ordinata secondo la chiesa riformata e situabile nel contesto aggiornato dell'architettura sacra internazionale. Opera rara di reale corrispondenza fra le arti (vi collaborarono fattivamente due artisti Mario Radice e Francesco Somaini), e frutto della sensibilità creativa dell'architetto eclettico, fotografo e artista. Nel saggio si approfondisce lo studio della copiosa produzione fotografica dell'autore dedicata a questo edificio, non solo dal valore documentale ma intesa come manifestazione poetica, attraverso la sua manipolazione integrata nel processo progettuale
Geothermal energy production in Italy: an LCA approach for environmental performance optimization
No full textGeothermal energy is a resource of natural and renewable energy and its exploita-tion in the Italian Tuscany Region contributes significantly to the regional share of electricity generation from renewable sources, with a value that has grown to about 35% in 2015. The energy produced by geothermal source, such as that pro-duced by other energy sources, generates non-negligible impacts on the environ-ment, closely related to the site-specificity of the source itself. This preliminary study analyzes the operational phase of seven geothermal plants located in the three main Tuscan geothermal areas, with a specific focus on the impacts generat-ed by emissions into the atmosphere. The aim is the assessment of the geothermal power plants environmental performances in relation the geomorphological char-acteristics of the sites and the technologies used to exploit the resource

Acupressure therapy for insomnia in adolescents: a polysomnographic study

A device known as the Sea-Band® was used by the patients in order to improve their symptoms related to difficulty in falling asleep. All subjects enrolled underwent two sets of consecutive overnight polysomnographic studies in the Sleep Laboratory of the Clinic of Child and Adolescent Neuropsychiatry, comprising two studies at baseline (before treatment) and another two studies at the end of 6 months of treatment.Results: At the end of 6 months of treatment, there was a significant increase in all macrostructural parameters of sleep duration, and a reduction in sleep onset latency, wake after sleep onset, and stage 2 sleep. Moreover, the study group showed a significant increase in percent sleep efficiency (P < 0.001) and in slow wave sleep representation.Conclusion: Acupressure is a noninvasive, safe, and effective method for the management of insomnia in adolescents, with good compliance and no adverse effects.Keywords: insomnia, adolescence, acupressure, polysomnograph
